Can we put on the "To Do at Sometime" sheet, automatically adding 'Thieve's Tools' as a DEX based Skill for Rogues with appropriate Proficiency/Expertise? (Yes, I know in some cases DMs might base in on INT or something else, but it's rare.)
The ability linked to tools is not fixed and doesn’t really make sense in the skills section. Adding it based on DEX will just further the misconception.

What I do for characters that have any tool, I usually just make a custom skill for each of the following abilities with proficiency for tools: Str, Dex, Int, Wis. Since you never know what is going to be called for, I always just have all four numbers at the ready to cover the majority of my tool needs. For thieves' tools, I generally just do Dex with expertise, but you're right it could be anything. And the fact that it could be anything, I think, is exactly why DDB hasn't (and may not) put it into the character sheet permanently.
That being said, it is also possible to ask for any of the skills with any of the ability modifiers if the GM deems it necessary. So hey, who knows?! lol
I agree, just for newbies playing the game it would be nice if the DEX based Thieves Tools showed up without the Custom Skill effort especially if they choose Expertise in it. Might make them more likely to remember to use it. I assume any DM wanting to vary the base skill would know how to handle the alternates.
To me it's more about if some one is selecting something in defining their character by class, race or.... it ought to show up on a sheet, especially if there are calculable modifiers.
Thanks for the reply.

In the meantime it’s easy to add it as a Custom Skill. Just click the gear at the bottom of the Skill List to get going on it...
Thank you.
Already added it as Custom Skill that way, but seems an obvious opportunity for a simple enhancement.
Thanks again.
Seems the forums pre-pended "https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/d-d-beyond-feedback/" to the URL.
