I googled and found that Feats are not available in character creation: "Feats, with exception of the Grappler feat, is not available as part of the free content. You will need to purchase them to use them ..."
I was wondering what and where should I purchase in order to have a fully featured character creation system? If the price is fair, why not, this character creator is just awesome. Super-simple, fast. I like it a lot.
I was wondering though, if Feats are missing, what other content is missing along with it, I'm not even aware of? (I don't have a very deep knowledge of DnD 5e, hence the question).
As of features, what I'm missing is better grouping of Equipment / Items and more visible item price. As of now, one has to search, filtering/grouping doesn't help much . E.g. if I want 'rope', which is an 'adventure gear' I have to search for it, instead of having a "basic items" -or such- group and just add things like torch, bandage -didn't even find anything like this-, backpack, rope, etc. So this section could be more robust.
Thanks for reading this and for the help in advance.
If you want to know where you can find a specific item, you can go to the page in game rules and it'll inform you. For example, if you go to the feats page (https://www.dndbeyond.com/feats) and expand any feat, it'll tell you the source. Also, you can go to the store and select any book and it'll list all the things in the book.
Generally speaking you want the players handbook for the base player options outside the SRD/Basic Rules
My assumption was that I need to buy an 'online package' or something in order to "unlock" this feature in the online character builder. Am I right you are saying that's not the case, I have to look up things "manually" from the books (or the Feats list you linked)? So the feature is not there at all in the builder, right?
EQUIPMENT PACKS
LOVELY! Thanks! I wasn't aware this stuff is available. How can I find stuff like this "intuitively"? (Yes, this might be a very silly question :)
Most of the feats are found in the PHB, race specific feats are in XGtE. You can buy one or both of these book, or scroll through their contents and buy just the feats you want or the feat bundles out of them. (It should also be noted that these 2 books contain most of the subclasses too). You can also have content shared to you by joining a content sharing champaign with someone who has bought it.
Equipment packs are mentioned in the basic rules, and also every class starts with one from a selection.
Only the SRD / Basic Rules are provided for free, which has few feats and only a single sub-class for each class.
D&D Beyond has to pay a licensing cost to Wizards for access to the other materials (Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master Guide, etc), which is why it has to charge you (the customer) for use of those books in the character creator / compendium.
If you purchase just the Player's Handbook, then you will have everything you need (feats, more subclass choices, more spells, etc).
Other books that give you useful things in the creator (but are by no means required):
Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide (SCAG) adds more sub-classes, backgrounds, and a few basic spells
Xanathar's Guide to Everything (XGtE) adds a lot more sub-classes, racial feats, and spells
Volo's Guide to Monsters (VGtM) adds more playable races
Guidmaster's Guide to Ravnica (GGtR) adds races, subclasses, and magic specific to the Magic the Gathering card game
Eberron: Rising from the Last War is an upcoming book that will be adding races, a new base class, and who knows what else specific to the Eberron setting.

Find my D&D Beyond articles here
Also, to get a bunch of common items that everyone needs, add an equipment pack.
Thank you for the answers!

Ah, okay, so the character builder IS robust and HAS the Feats, etc as soon as I buy the books listing these!
So if I buy this: https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/source/players-handbook
All content (spells and feats) from PHB are now included in the online character builder!
THANKS! ;)
