I'd argue that while a majority of forum posts in feedback and especially bug/support forums skew to negative, I imagine a far larger majority of DDB users are not active here at all, and are happily off playing games instead. Forums like this tend to draw the extremes, in my experience. Those who offer mostly complaints, and the supporters who brush off the negative aspects and stridently support the product regardless.
At the same time, recognizing the faults or limitations as things currently stand and that there is room for improvement does not equate to being disappointed with it, IMO. Of course there as things that can be and yes, need to be improved. Does that mean I'm disappointed with Beyond? Not at all. Obviously, YMMV and people are certainly both entitled to their opinions and encouraged to share them with the staff here since in most cases they are legitimate gripes and the feedback is worthwhile to the devs.
Just my 2 coppers.
Completely agree; the Bugs forums are going to naturally attract criticism because the purpose is to allow users to raise faults with the Website. There's no forums dedicated to 'look how great these features work!!'. It's more or less normal for people to only comment if there's an issue and rarely comment on a thing that's functioning well.
I too have issues with the site - still waiting on major things like the Combat Tracker to allow trackable abilities for Monsters (e.g. Spell Slots), and I'm still waiting on minor things such as having a checkbox for a Sacred Weapon for Devotion Paladins.
But this site does so much so well that it's easy to forget what it has accomplished from when it first started because we're all used to it now. Just because people don't bring it up, doesn't mean people aren't loving what this site does for people's games - I'm definitely one of them.
Still waiting on my trackable Spell Slots for Monsters in Combat though ;)

[REDACTED] At every table I play at, dndbeyond is only trashed and made of fun of for exploiting the D&D community. [REDACTED]
That's just not true. There are plenty of threads on this site with people critical of DDB's functionality or business model. Many of them years old. This thread is over a year old (as has been pointed out to you) and it's still here. Now abusive language or other expressions outside of what someone may call civil discourse, or otherwise inflammatory language, yes, that gets cleaned up. But honestly I'm surprised/impressed how much criticism is allowed to be validated by being allowed to remain here.

I can't be 100% on this, but I think the tables you play at are not aware of or don't know what the word 'exploiting' means? Or at least have a skewed perception of its meaning?
D&D Beyond has issues and is by no means perfect - even I would attest to that. It is not however exploitive.

Unfortunately, there is no possibility of backwards granting access to content on D&D Beyond, for free, based on physical books you already own.
On top of other reasons, there is no way to legitimately discern who has purchased a physical book (barcodes/receipts etc are not viable).
With regards future book purchases, we are exploring options. We're not able to share what that might look like as, at this point, it's still exploratory.
Whilst probably not the answer that you wanted to read, I hope this provides the answer requested.
Hello Everyone , I have been playing Dnd for 1 year now. I have bought a lot of dnd books and I am really disappointed in D&D beyond! I came to D&D beyond and made my first character and was super happy thinking that this was going to make life a lot easier... Until I realized that in order for you to make a character with the Plasmoid race which was released in spelljammer I would have to purchase SpellJammer even though I pre ordered the physical copy! [Redacted] Sorry Guys but I just dont understand the point and honestly I feel like me, and all of my friends and probably a lot of other people would use this tool if there were more free options. Make a character using a race *money, take a feat other then grappler *money, make an encounter using monsters from another book *money, try to read of a spell in another book *money, like honestly come on! All I am saying is that a ton of other people would use this tool if more options were free and I understand the D&D beyond needs to make money somehow but this is just not the way. So, Needless to say I am definitely disappointed in D&D beyond.
Return the physical copy and buy the digital version. Buying one format of the product does not mean you are entitled to other formats of the product. Just because you own Skyrim on your PS5 does not mean you can play it on your PC. Just because you have Gloomhaven in real life does not mean you can play it for free on the PC. D&D is no different here.
People who made this website deserves to be paid just as much as people who made the physical book, and the best way to compensate them is to make people like you and me pay for it. If you do not want to pay them money, then you need to pay with time and effort and learn how to use the homebrew tools and integrate the physical books into Beyond manually.

This. The tools you are given here for free let you create a character and if you want any race/background/subclass, etc you can either buy them piecemeal, paying for the time that someone put into programming that content, or you can put in the time yourself and homebrew what you need.

I am highly disappointed in DDB, but not for the price of books.

I think you forgot to mention that what you are suggesting is illegal. You are illegally accessing WOTC property unless you pay for it.

You can buy individual races / magic items etc., you don't have to buy the whole book. It's much cheaper that way.
