I don't use digital dice often and most of mine are from subscriber perks.
That said I like the fuzzy dice best of the ones I have mostly because it would be difficult to have fuzzy dice irl at a table that would be fair. I find them fun when I do use digital dice.

They're not fancy or anything, but I have a soft spot for the Pigment Pack because I had a hand in naming them. My original suggestion was "Nolzur's Marvellous Pigments Pack" but it had to be cut down to something more wieldy
If I were to splurge on a set of digital dice, only owning the default black, which do you all recommend as your personal favorite and why?
Bigby's Hand set. It doesn't have the annoying metal sound, it has a cool rune to numbers animation, a giant glowing hand that scoops up the dice after the roll, unique reactions from Bigby if it is a 20 or a 1, and the dice themselves look kind of neat.
This was a subscriber perk from July, so I am not sure if you will be able to access it through some other promotion. As a backup for you that is available for purchase on the marketplace, the Golden Vault dice set is nice. It has cool animation and even though it has a metal rolling sound, it is a jingle kind of sound, like coins in a coin purse. Elder Heart is also pleasant, with blooming flowers on a 20 and a few musical notes when the dice go away.
As a DM I work to not allow players to use digital dice on their phones while we are playing.
I have caught several players cheating on their rolls and it irked me.
If they're rolling on DDB, all their rolls would show up in the game log. (Unless they rolled private.)
(IMO, if you can't trust your players, you shouldn't be playing with them. They'll cheat on physical rolls if they can.)
I'm currently using the Bigby's dice. I find the treasure hoard one amusing but, the animation takes too long. (Bigby's is borderline there.) I thought the Vecna one was cool, mostly for the d20, but I didn't want to buy it.
i don't usually buy dice, but i'll admit that the owlbear dicling tempts me. the critical fail animation is too fun.
also, if i could set a different dice set to each character then i'd be immediately tempted by the battle for beyond set. i don't think they're animated but they sure are pretty.
the preorder dice of many things are pretty cool. the d20 turns into a card and flips over showing one of the deck of many things cards. makes me a little anxious to see donjon and talons come up haha

The Gem Dice are pretty.
Honestly?
My dice were stuck on the Themberchaud set (or whatever it's called) for ages. Now I've tried it and it's stuck on the plain black set.
Not sure I'd bother paying for them.

I’m a big fan of the retro Old School dice, but I usually use the Pride dice. However, I’m not sure either is available for purchase.

Bigby's hand is my current favorite too. The cleanup after roll is just so much fun.
As a subscriber to DND Beyond I get free digital dice every now and then. Those are my favorites

I never understood the point of cheating. This isn’t a game to win, it’s a game to experience, and failures are often just as fun as successes.
