So next month my current DM is planning a Christmas inspired oneshot, putting a twist on popular oneshot idea floating around. The basics are we players will each select a Christmas movie and make a character from the film, then the DM will choose another Christmas film as the basis for the oneshot. This got me thinking of what kind of character concepts would you pick, and how would you build them as D&D characters? I'll share a couple of my ideas.
Gonzo - A Muppet's Christmas Carol. A Kenku, though I'm not sure if I'd go the obvious lore bard route, or lean into something like a great old one warlock.
The dad from Jingle all the way. A devotion paladin who is just trying to get the damn sold out toy for his son.
Buddy the elf from Elf would have to be some sort of Fey-based Bard - Outlander background, something like Glamour or maybe Spirits reflavored to be Christmas spirits.

I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?
Its a Wonderful LIfe, George bailey as a Celestial Warlock, use Toll of the Dead instead of Eldritch Blast "everytime time a bell tolls, a warlock claims a soul!"
Last year my brother ran a one-shot where I played as Frosty the Snowman... I played him as a Storm Herald (Tundra) Water Genasi who I played as a loveable oaf who kept "accidentally" hitting enemies with his broom while dancing.
This year he's made it clear that he's going to run a one-shot inspired by Gremlins, and I've got plans to play as "Miscolored Boba Fett from the Star Wars Holiday Special", which I plan to play as a Variant Human (Sharpshooter) Armorer Artificer.

I might add some more later.
Be a Human Gunslinger and be either Riggs from Lethal Weapon or Maclane from Die Hard...two of my favourite Christmas movies.

A 10 year old Artificer who was mistakenly abandoned by their family.
Rugby Tiger from The Christmas Toy (my all time favorite Christmas movie). I Leonin Rogue, probably a Thief
John McClane from Die Hard (America’s favorite Christmas movie). A human Battle Master

Alternatively one that we actually ran. A group of goblins raid an "unoccupied" house to steal things during the holidays.
E. Aster Bunnymund from Rise of the Guardians:
Harengon Fighter with Thrown Weapon Fighting.
John McClane from Die Hard:
Human Fighter with Luck Feat.
"Sooner or later, your Players are going to smash your railroad into a sandbox."
-Vedexent
"real life is a super high CR."
-OboeLauren
"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"
-Ilyara Thundertale
Or Ralphie from A Christmas Story. Just need to figure out a way for him to have the ability to inflict blindness on a hit.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
“A Christmas Carol” - Ebenezer Scrooge, an Undead Warlock (his old partner Marley is his “patron”).
His form of dread could be him weighed down by chains.
Its a Wonderful LIfe, George bailey as a Celestial Warlock, use Toll of the Dead instead of Eldritch Blast "everytime time a bell tolls, a warlock claims a soul!"
A green Bugbear Rogue who's inspiration to steal is driven by an abhorrence for the holiday season.
