Guidance would make me good at anything, and I could do anything I want with at least relative success, and it would be just amazing. I felt like Shape Water or Control Flames would be way more fun though. Think about going to a pond and creating a giant ice spike, or having a bonfire and creating weird fire shapes. Charm Person can make you start a cult, and any minor illusion would be weird. If only someone would make a best 1st or 2nd level spells irl...

This thread is about the best cantrip in real life and you asked us to forget what you said about Friends, accomplished by using the Modify Memory spell. Cyb3rM1nd was just being a wiseguy. I thought it was pretty funny.

theres a few things i think we missed tbh... acid splash were you make a strong acid from literally nothing enough to cover two people standing five feet apart! you could mass produce and sell said acid you only make profit. also shocking grasp! you are making lightning jump from your hand and to someone so that must be a large amount of energy that you could use to power your house or car or anything (depending on usage and car type) mind sliver is the best way to be an assassin because theres no way to tell what happened at all. ik we touched on spare the dying but that would prob make you one of the best helpers in the world. gust might be useful for wind power but it doesnt seem like it pushes that much wind. magic stone? useless to the dnd world but imagine in our world pouring magic into an item you could even learn what things in our world are weak to magic or make something that can pull the magic from the stone (idk how thats for the smart people to think about not me) also create BONDFIRE?! unlimited thermal energy bond fires id imagine put out a ton of thermal energy that you can create from nothing just snap and boom its there. frostbite? again the best hitman they just slowly freeze to death
The acid created by Acid Splash doesn't persist, it deal damage instantly and then apparently vanishes (otherwise it would continue inflicting damage). Similarly, Shocking Grasp produces a brief, powerful surge of electricity. That's not good for charging electronics, it's good for frying them.

"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

not fully true (yes you could walk up to someone and fry their phone bc f them ig?) but there was tech that was being developed to harvest lightning from storms (they failed for a few reasons but not bc the tech wasnt able to be built) so it is 100% possible for you to capture and store that energy

In real life you can do a lot of things that duplicate the cantrips. Screw all the combat ones, guns do that.
Mending is the only one we cannot fully duplicate with machinery, training or greater skill. Glue is rarely enough.
Unless you care about impressing people with hey, he has a Magic hand! But a robotic one works better.
What if you can't have a weapon with you? You bring a gun to school/work? Do the prison guards let you have guns on you?
But I agree, you don't ever need combat spells in real life unless you have... dark thoughts.

Charm Person isn't a cantrip. Also, it only lasts an hour and once it ends the target knows what you did.

Sorry, I meant friends
Friends is considerably more useless. Seriously, we just spent the last two pages listing all the reasons why it wouldn't be a useful spell IRL.

Forget what I said about Friends, I forgot they become hostile towards you afterwards.
Modify Memory isn't a cantrip.
