How do you come up with character names?

I'm somewhere in the middle. For important characters I usually start with a rough idea of their background and then try different combinations until something feels right.

If I'm completely stuck, I'll use a few online generators for inspiration. Most of the time I don't take the generated name directly, but I modify it until it fits the character.

Lately I've also experimented with stylized versions of names just to see how they look in online games and profiles. For example, names like Aeloria, Ravenor, or Kaelis can look quite different depending on the style used. One tool I came across for that is: letras bonitas

I still prefer creating the actual name myself, but generators can be useful when you need inspiration or want to try different visual styles.

Print out four alphabets, cut them up into individual letters. Make a circle out of string. Throw the letters into the air. Whatever lands in the circle makes up the name. 

Or just name the PCs/NPCs after my favorite characters from fiction. 

I just go with whatever comes into my head.

Bang on the keyboard a little bit and make a name out of what comes out.
