I know, right? This is an old post and a thing i figured we'd have year one, or soon after. I am truly amazed it has yet to be covered. It seems like everything else has been done.
If you spend much time in the forums here you see that they usually begin talking about things this big about 2 years before they are implemented. It's the same case for costume invocations and a boon system.
I wish we could vote on the development pipeline so we could see where these things sit relative to everything else. I mean, this seems important to me but I don't know if this is actually important to the D&D beyond userbase as a whole. And the longer it goes without any change or meaningful communication, the more frustrated I'll become.
Almost a year ago, their was an announcement that classes will only come as part of a full system overhaul (something thats still years off, if ever) and even then is not super likely,
what's the timeline look like on this? I'm dying to be able to do this.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I have been playing DnD for almost two years now. I started dm’ing pretty quickly. It is perhaps my favorite thing to do. I am incredibly interested in reformed theology and religion in general. I am reformed myself. Happy adventuring everyone. Soli Deo Gloria! #WSCone
I absolutely hate how silent they are on this matter, it's insanely frustrating and a little suspicious. I've seen multiple post asking about this for years and they periodically give vague updates only to go silent for an extended length of time. The concerns they raise are easily answered and they seem to never have the time or manpower to make it happen despite all the people who want it.
I think the reality is that they don't think custom classes won't make them money and therefore it will probably never be a priority. They added virtual dice which kinda confuses me since they're not a VTT, I don't know how many people are using this to play online without other tools and needed dice. They regularly keep throwing out new dice skins you can buy on top of your subscription like horse armor for your fake dice, it all just feels like they're only concern is money.
I want to believe them when they talk about how they're all just a bunch of nerdy players and DMs as well but the behavior seems greedy, maybe it's the fault of the management pushing them that way, it just sucks that what is a core part of DND for many people (heck, even Matt Mercer himself) isn't available and maybe never will be.
Was hoping to see this show that you can. Still no update on this
How bout now?
Legend says they already built this feature, but they push the reveal a month or two every time someone asks. ;)
hey it's been another year and I've paid money to other companies for the ability to do this. do i need to keep paying them or what

Well it's near the end of 2021 and still no update. Damn:(
Bumping, still need this feature rather desperately 🤣
Once again and rather predictably I'm gonna sling my comment into the mishmash and say: yes please on the custom classes 😂
Pleaseplease with a cherry on top.
I am also looking to add a custom class. Please D&D Beyond staff make this a priority.

Please, this is needed as we love DnD Beyond, but the lack of this drive a lot of players away
Me again. This again.
Has there been any announcement as to when they expect to finally put homebrew classes as an option?

My homebrew content: Monsters, subclasses, Magic items, Feats, spells, races, backgrounds

It's been 3+ years without them doing it, I bet we'll see 6e before it is done, unfortunately.
Feature is out now! But only for Matt Mercer
I really want to make a ninja class! when is it coming out?
An update would be nice. Even if it is to say homebrew classes will not be supported. At least we know where we stand on this subject.
