right now i think the only way to maybe make a class is to make a subclass, and have replacement features that do nothing for all of the original features.
Hey guys, I would really like to throw my money at this service, but need to be able to at least make homebrew classes (and preferably skills, tools, and equipment). Any word yet?
It has been almost 3 years at this point - how "longterm" is this supposed to be? Frankly this is a major dealbreaker for considering using DNDBEYOND in my campaign.
I would like to point something out though. Classes are just more complex subclasses. This just means that if they take the subclass system and add a feature to attach a subclass to it, we would get a class system. This could honestly take maybe a week to do. I get it if they want to revamp the system, but it just feels like they're just choosing not to add the most requested feature for no reason at all other than they won't right now.
For a weekend DnD session I wanted to create my Homebrewclass and the corresponding Spells in Dnd Beyond. Unfortunately I'm too stupid for that, is there any idiot-proof manual how to do it? Didn't find anything in my (admittedly short) research.
Thank you for your information.
kind regards MisterM1291
First don't.
If you want take my first bit of advice then don't try to make a new class.
Oaky as my third bit of advice what do you want the class to do that can't be done in DND. Then go to older additions looking as old classes and subclasses to find a good one that dose what you want then transfer it to 5e. I'm currently working on making my own subclass based off of 3.5 tomb of battle book of 9 swords, Swordsage.
Then next step is to compare your subclass or class to the other classes to make sure it is not over powered. Then a quick play test and done.
It is incredibly hard to make a class much harder then making a subclass. I started a year ago and I'm not done granted I do have 208 maneuvers to update to 5e takes time.

I've said this before, but they answer this question contanstly and the answer is really
Maybe when 5.5 or 6e comes out.

Homebrew races are functional?

No word. You can do everything EXCEPT classes. I'm guessing they won't do it and it MIGHT make it into 5.5/6e.
I saw something saying that this feature wouldn't be added until at least 2024, and even then, would not be likely.
Still no updates 3 years later 🥲
still not a thing in 2022

Homebrewed classes are probably still years away if they ever happen at all, which is a slim chance.

another year later and it still doesnt exist
Don’t hold your breath, we will likely never be able to make homebrewed classes on DDB.

Maybe the fact that that WotC actually acquired the platform we may get home brew classed but who knows

Dang... Still nothing on this. I really wanted to have one for my campaign too.
i think you can create a subclass for the class that is most like it, then make features and select replace for the base classes ones
