So if I already have the books in my collection, there's no way to unlock the digital content for creating character sheets without buying them again here?

That's correct. Physical booksellers and D&D Beyond are completely separate vendors; buying a book from Barnes & Noble doesn't let you get a free copy of the same book from Books-A-Million, haha.
What you can do is implement everything from your physical books yourself as Homebrew creations so you can use them to build characters here on DDB. Note that if you do so, you cannot publish those Homebrew creations; they're for personal use only.
Ok, last question. If I buy the unlocked content and create characters, will I be able to share those characters with DM on here that doesn't have the content unlocked so they can manage their campaign with my correct stats or do they also need to buy content or enroll in a subscription?

As long as it is your character in their campaign, they can view all the descriptions of all features, spells, items, etc the character has on their character sheet (and I think even see all the options available to you when they edit your character).
If you make a character using your unlocked content and then transfer your character to someone else, all the options will stay, but they can't be reselected if removed.
If you have a Master tier subscription (or if anyone in the campaign has one), all content is shared between players in that campaign. Additionally, any homebrew you make is available to players in your campaign, even if you haven’t published it. Homebrewing official stuff for use by your own players is fine.

Alternately, if you don't want to buy a full book, you can buy just the desired character options and monsters and such that you want to be able to use in the character builder and other tools on DDB. If you've already bought part of a book on DDB, and you decide to get the full thing later, the price of the full book is discounted by the amount you've paid previously for the parts of that book you've already bought on DDB (so you're never wasting money) - the same is true of bundles.
And, as mentioned, you can manually recreate official content as private homebrew - the staff have even recommended this method if you're willing to put in the time/effort, and it's fine as long as you don't try to publish it publicly. Private homebrew content is automatically shared with anyone in a campaign with you on D&D Beyond, even without a subscription.
You only need a Hero Tier subscription to add others' published homebrew to your collection, or a Master Tier subscription to enable content sharing. If content sharing is enabled, then any content purchased by anyone in the campaign is automatically shared with everyone else in the campaign, regardless of who bought which content (though shared content is only usable in the character builder for characters in the campaign itself). Right now, the DM can limit sharing of compendium content by book (e.g. to prevent players from being able to read ahead in the campaign); more refined content sharing management options are planned.
Feel free to ask if you have any other questions! :)
Just a quick question- The Master Subscription doesn't give you access to all the races and tiers and types of classes and stuff? I bought it for that reason but now I think I didnt need that, I just need to individually buy every thing on its own???
That’s correct. A master subscription lets you share content you own with other people in a campaign with sharing enabled, but you still need to own the content.
Checking my thinking here. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
If I have the Player's Handbook, the monsters bundle from the Monster Manual, and at least a Hero subscription I should be able to:
* Create as many characters as I wish using all content from Player's Handbook.
* Create as many Encounters as I wish with access to all the individual monster details as published in the Monster Manual.
* Utilize Combat Tracking for a session I may run which shows me the encounter details for DnD Beyond PCs and Monsters as per the Player's Handbook and Monster's Manual.
Yay or nay? Do I click confirm purchase in my cart or no lol?

That is all correct. And a little not for the encounter builder, you can add a monster to the encounter even if you don't own it. It'll calculate the difficulty, and everything like that, you just won't be able to see the stats. However, that is all correct.

-Do you have content sharing on?
-Are your friends creating characters within the campaign or are they trying to do so outside of the campaign? (Characters must be in a campaign with content sharing turned on to benefit from content sharing)
-If the answers to both of the above questions is yes, try turning content sharing off and then back on again.
Hey, this is the third or fourth thread I’ve seen this week with people complaining of the exact same problem. I don’t know if it’s a simple troubleshoot thing, or if they’re all connected.
It’s now glitching out the actual content at first my players were all able to access all the books I shared with them but now they can only access phb xge on the app on the website its fine
Apparently, some folks tried leaving the campaign and then the-entering it and that worked for them. I don’t know if it will also work for you folks, but it can’t hurt to try.
I apologize if this has been asked before as I couldn't find an answer. I really have two questions.
1) Does the Hero subscription give access to all content for creating unlimited digital characters in 5e? Eg, classes, feats, etc.
2) Does buying the Player Handbook unlock the ability to create unlimited digital character sheets with access to all content as well?
Hi there,
seems you have the purpose of subscriptions and sourcebooks mixed up with each other!
Subscriptions are described here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/subscribe
Sourcebooks grant access to the content within them. Each sourcebook is described here:
