Again, it's coming out 11/17. Just tell whomever is in your circle and quit complaining. These guys work from home yes, but they're still busting their butts to make sure digital nerds are getting their goodies on time. If you're looking for rewards for being steadfast in the world we currently occupy, go to a brick and mortar place. The products here are better than good and receive constant management. Be freaking reasonable.
Thank you for repeating the street date. It's not helpful. We know what it is. The issue is that buying it on the release date doesn't get you any PRE-ORDER bonus material.
As someone who has over 60 characters in DNDBeyond, those preorder bonuses (that you can't purchase) are important to me. I want to be able to customize my characters so they feel unique and special.
I may be the only one, but it's still my reason for not only purchasing every single book that they have offered but also to keep me pre-ordering books to come.
It's also not helpful just repeating the same complaint. It doesn't change how much time or resources the staff has to get a product ready for digital release. And if they're not doing pre-order, there's probably a good reason. I don't recall Exandria getting a pre-order, but I could be wrong.
From what I've read this has nothing to do with DNDBeyond implementing the book slowly or anything like that. It's (apparently) Wizards of the Coast saying none of the digital sellers can offer pre-order yet. (Note: WotC & DNDBeyond are different companies.) It seems at face value to be true because you can't preorder Tasha's on Roll20 either.
And Exandria did have a preorder - months in advance.
Gm’s love the shiny freebies we get with preordering on DnD Beyond (more Barbarian theme stuff please dnd beyond gods, I’ve been good and smited many a player for you). A 50% off code for dnd beyond version when you buy the physical copy would be awesome and help out a lot of players but it will never happen.
I am fairly sure they will offer bonus customizable stuff when the book is available. This will be a huge update that could change every character sheet. They are not going to miss out on selling it.
DDB is always looking forward, and seeking to make the best experience possible imo. If they aren’t doing preorder, you can bet it’s not their call. I would imagine that when it releases, there will be supplemental UI elements as well, again imo. They seem cool like that. But as stated earlier, some of y’all need to chill. The dev team has a lot to do. This is going to be a huge book.
It'd be nice if DNDB got the gift purchase thing figured out so people could buy this new book for their GMs. Seems like the right time for implementing that feature.
With everything WotC threw at DNDBeyond recently - I think they have enough on their plate. I mean they just got done with the Icewind Dale book and then another one gets announced and a whole bunch of errata too - all during some not exactly helpful world events. I'd say we should be thankful for whatever we get.

This seems like a silly question, but I only got into D&D this year. If I purchase the physical copy on Amazon, will it come with a digital code to redeem it here on DNDBeyond like some of the other books?

No; so far it looks like the Essentials Kit is a one-off. For the rest of the official D&D 5E materials if you want a digital version on D&D Beyond you'll have to purchase that separately from purchasing the physical copy.

This website is not owned by the same company that publishes D&D. This website is essentially a digital bookstore. Basically, this website is in competition with Amazon to sell these books.

I know what Iamsposta means, but the questioner may be confused with the response as worded. D&D Beyond doesn't sell physical books, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and inddependent game and bookstores do. D&D Beyond sells digital editions of D&D 5e books integrated into the D&D Beyond's system of tools. Buying a hardcopy or digital edition does not grant you a copy in the other format.

This may just be a "me" thing, but in my mind this is already spent money so I'd prefer my bank account to reflect that.
I know that feeling lol, this book I will purchase here fully and I am going to get a physical copy as well.

The only relevant discussion here should be when Wizards will permit preorders. I'm sure Beyond would do it if they were allowed.
I think that we would all love to express our feelings on the lack of communication with WoTC. But I need to know where that belongs?
