There's 58 pages of comments...too much for this ADHD person to read. So, I know this had to have been asked, but think it would be appropriate to update the first message with the information.... Why doesn't the $6/month charge include all of the books? You cancel, you don't access the books. Or make a 3rd tier that is $9.99 that includes the books...

I know this has probably been answered, but the above comment makes me think I have it wrong.
If you buy the PHB, DMG and MM, after you purchase these are you still required to pay for a subscription? Or can you just buy the book and look at it here without a subscription.
Thanks to anyone who can clarify this.

Ok...I need to get something straight.
When this goes live and I pay my subscription of $2.99/month I won't have access to the PHB, DMG, or MM until I pay for each digitally? I've already bought the PHB ($49.95) so why would I need the digital version? Wizards of the Coast is telling me that I will have to spend $79.94 just to access the most basic rules to currently run D&D!?! Seriously? SOMEONE TELL ME I'M WRONG!
Since the PHB for this edition of D&D has been out already for just under three years, WOTC knows that it has to be double charging it's customers just to have access to a program they are only gonna charge $2.99/month for.
I've been playing D&D for about thirty years now and have never even come close to spending this much money if I were to go full bore on this...
It's starting to feel like I'm getting into Warhammer tabletop instead of D&D.
Exactly. I have never understood D&D player's sense of entitlement. So many players think they can steal the content or the get the great service of that curse is offering included in their one time purchase price of $49.99. That is ridiculous. Even if I drop an additional $500 on this game I am getting a fantastic value in regards to dollar per entertainment hour and the memories that I create will long out last the last movie I saw.
It's not a sense of entitlement but a misunderstanding that Beyond is not being produced by WotC but by Curse. I can understand some of the frustration. WotC has shown itself woefully incapable of bringing D&D into the digital age. It's attempting to fix this by contracting the project out. I understand that means having to make a new financial commitment and am willing to do so to have competently produced digital products. Some people are balking at it because this is not a cheap hobby.
Its kind of funny how I used to see people in forums everywhere complaining that there weren't any digital versions of the books, how that if there were digital versions of the books that they would have no problem paying for them again to have the convenience of a digital product, and how WOTC was behind the times in not releasing digital books.
Now we are getting digital books and people are coming out of the woodwork complaining that they have to pay for them. That's just how it goes folks. If you go to DriveThruRPG, you see RPGs on PDF for sale everywhere. That's the product. You can buy it in print or in a digital format, you can choose both formats or stick with one version.
On top of it all, a bunch of the content on this site will remain free!
If you don't like it, don't buy it, it's simple.
