(If your original body is changed into that of a brass dragon then your soul cannot return to your body as it no longer exists.)
*Yeah, I think RAW implicates that if you do something like that, you take that risk.*
Nothing in the spell states that the body must be in its original form. Just that it was originally my body.
A body that has been changed is still the same body - otherwise Dispel Magic wouldn't work.
I'm gonna stop arguing though and just let you tell me what you want. I asked about cheese and prep for a reason, lol. I can have a different character done in a few hours, or I can bow out. Your call, boss.
*You can do it, it's just that you have the risk of your body being destroyed and having the effect of not having a body while magic jar is taking effect.*

The Circle of Hedgehogs Druid Beholder/Animated Armor Level -20 Bardof the OIADSB Cult, here are our rules.Sig.Also a sauce council member, but it's been dead for a while.
I'm a little confused, because magic jar is already over - the soul is back in the body which is now indefinitely an Ancient Brass Dragon.
I'm not gonna give you a hard time about it though. I clearly overshot in terms of power, you've got a lot of Arcane casters already, and I'm not gonna make everyone wait for me to try a new build.
Thanks for considering me, I'll bow out here, and wish you all buckets of fun!

That elemental thing involves too many concentration spells in effect at once. It doesn’t work. But nice try
First of all, what is the thing that doesn't make it work? Second of all, I checked it and it seems like it works.
Spells that have an extended casting time count as concentration I believe. So if it takes an hour to cast, you have to concentrate on it while you cast it. Look in the phb, spells section “Casting a spell” then “longer casting times”.
I’m not trying to be a jerk, I’m just pointing it out. Doing something like that is generally a two-caster job.
Actually, if you are able to time it right, you can do what Cyb3rM1nd did.
Takes a minute to cast magic circle which lasts 24 hours (no biggie). Then a minute to cast conjure elemental. It lasts an hour. It takes an hour to cast planar binding. You’d have to be managing both spells at once, or the elemental disappears just before you can finish. It’s almost as though it were deliberately done this way to prevent industrious Wizards from building armies of elementals solo. Lol
Step 1: Upcast Magic Circle so it has a longer duration. Use inverted option to keep things inside.
Step 2: Cast Conjure Elemental to conjure the desired Elemental inside the Magic Circle. Drop concentration - it's still stuck inside magic circle, which prevents it leaving even after the spell ends.
Step 3: Cast Planar Binding. Note this spell specifically states "(Typically, the creature is first summoned into the center of an inverted magic circle in order to keep it trapped while this spell is cast.)"
Still sounds like bending the rules to me, but hey, I’m not the DM here. I’m just a sorceror! Wielding phenomenal cosmic power! By accident. And with very little AC, no shield spells, no armor buffs. So feel free to keep that elemental up front soaking damage lol
I'm going to use this. If you have finished your character, please link it on the campaign, which is linked to in the begining of the post.

The Circle of Hedgehogs Druid Beholder/Animated Armor Level -20 Bardof the OIADSB Cult, here are our rules.Sig.Also a sauce council member, but it's been dead for a while.
So it turns out none of my spells require costly components and after buying half plate and a shield I have a ton of gold left over. Can I buy any magic items? If not and anyone needs gold for spell components I'm happy to share.

In that case, you could buy nonmagical gear. I'm not going to allow buying magic items before the campaign starts, because that can be very complicated. If you want to, you can share your gold with spellcasters that need components.

Same. Like 14,000 gold I had to turn into platinum because I’m so un-muscular

Jeremy Crawford, the rules designer, agrees with this strategy.

Well, I will share if anyone needs. And hope there will be opportunity to spend it once the game starts.
There will be an oppurtunity to spend it during the campaign.
