You all start inside a fancy tavern. There are bards in the tavern playing music. In the corner, there is somebody wearing a dark cloak. There is also a barkeeper in this place. There aretables all over the ground floor. There is a door to the upstairs and a door to the basement.

Dusk enters the tavern with his silver tabby cat familiar on his shoulder and behind him is the softly-whirling air elemental, Wispy. He heads to the bar, sitting upon an empty stool, and hails the barkeep, politely. Once the barkeep comes over Dusk make his order.
"Hello," he says with a soft lazy voice, "I would like a meal - any basic meal is fine - and some meat for my cat. May I have a drink of water, in a cup for me and in a bowl for my cat, please? I'd also like to enquire about any leads for work - I require a lot of coin and I'm new to this area. Any suggestions to weight my purse would be most welcome."
A tall, reedy man in plain clothes enters with a clearly magical staff and a pack on his back. He finds a seat but continues holding onto the staff. He looks around, clearly advertising the staff, and this himself as a person of magical strength.

Dusk and his cat look at each for a moment. He suddenly says "I agree," and turns to the barkeep. "Chicken please, if you have it."
The tabaxi observes the human mage walk in and take a seat, brandishing a magical staff. Dusk looks at that staff and then on his own. While the human's seemed fancier, Dusk's was also fairly noticeable with the deep navy hue and sapphire crystal filigree and amethyst firmly affixed to the top.
The problem with magical staves and the like is that they could look like anything and give no indication of what powers they confer. In his travels he has seen many fancy and exquisitely detailed staves possessing only rudimentary and basic magic. Likewise he has seen mundane-looking staffs that could unleash incredible magic. The staff also gives no indication to the magical power of the one that wields it. Even the lowest of mages could wield a mightily powerful staff and rely on it. Was this human such a mage? Or do they hold great power themselves? What type of mage were they? A wizard, like himself, or something else? If they were a wizard, there was a chance to exchange spells and learn from each other.
Not a fan of initiating conversation, or conversing at all, Dusk decided to keep his own staff in view of the mage, his large elemental beside him, but otherwise remain to wait for his order.

A cloaked dwarf clad in half plate walks in, a Mechanical Badger on his side. On his back you see a leather-wrapped metal rod, a warhammer and a shield. He greets the barkeeper as an old friend "The usual please".and than he sits down at a table with two other people and joins their card game. Although it is clear he is a bit restless playing the game, and if you know the game you'll notice he is not very good. When he sits down he puts his weapons and shield on the ground, and his hood down.
If you look at him you will notice a weird looking monocle in front of one eye, and an amulet around his neck. While his boots almost look like they have wings. He clearly doesn't care about fashion, but in one way or the other each item he is wearing seems to be connected to one another and seem to work together and each item he is wearing has the same mark: A metal rod with a ring on the end that contains a stone; it looks like a hammer, below the Hammer there are two letters: MH.
When his order is delivered he thanks the waitress and takes a look around the bar, his eyes staying on the dark cloaked figure a bit longer, before continuing the game and starting on his ale and food.

Dusk thanks them and uses prestidigitation to chill the water in the bowl and give it the flavour of milk. Muggles, his cat, leaps onto the bar to lap up the milk-flavoured water quite happily. The tabaxi then, somewhat unceremoniously, chomps down on his plate of food.
Grom sat at a table in the corner, a token mug of some untouched beverage in front of him, his conical hat wedged between his shield and staff, the whole pile leaning on the wall next to him. His serious eyes, which seemed to glimmer with an inner light (or was it just a trick of the ambience?) took in the whole scene, observing and evaluating.
Are "these" the ones I'm supposed to meet here? He was not impressed, but cautioned himself against relying on surface impressions and judging too soon. He would observe, and gain insight into these strangers, before he would approach them.
He'd arrived unobserved on one end of a lightning strike an hour ago, outside the town and walked the rest of the way to this tavern. He hated displaying power just for the sake of drawing attention, but if you need to cross the realm quick, there really was no alternative to teleportation. Of course, he was here on a mission. Evil was threatening this realm and all its people, and he was not adequate to the task of defeating it alone. Therefore, he would need these others, and their power.
She whispers back, "They arrived in this tavern yesterday and is currently staying in a room here."
"Hmm so from out of town; thank you" Magron answers the waitress. Taking another look around, but before he does that he mumbles "Show me" giving himself truesight through the monocle. He takes a closer look this time around the bar. He sees some interesting people around Hmmm could it be that I finally find a new adventure today, I need one; that is for sure? he thinks when seeing the three creatures all carrying a staff of some kind, the illusions that wasn't there just a moment before showing 'Looking for work', and of course the cloaked figure from out of town. Who should I talk to first?

Maerwyn has been moving around the tables and chairs scattered around the compound, her dark sacramento robe trailing behind her like a living shadow when the tip of the perky pair of ears can be seen behind the high collar. She abruptly stands before the door that might hide the staircase leading upwards, tapping her heels on the floor and crossing her arms before her torso she is seen observing it with curiosity.
Someone may assume that she's just another lady undecided on the matter of sitting arrangement or the quality of service, but she's no ordinary woman! Indeed, it requires a great amount of patience and pretense to eavesdrop on a bunch of strangers, the high pitched tune of Bardic instruments offers no advantage at all.
Distant sound of conversation is heard, when she attempts to find out what's being asked to the waitress and how she responds to the inquiries of the cloaked customer. Aha! Let's see if we can find out something about the dark cloaked figure!
After another ale and a few rounds of cards, Magron decides its time to see what is going on with these interesting people that he feels he hasn't seen in this tavern before. He stands up and decides he'll first talk to Tabaxi with the "Looking for work" illusion. So he moves to his table
"Pardon me good Tabaxi, my name is Magron Hammerstone. I couldn't help but notice your illusions there, and was wondering what type of work it is you are looking for?"
