"Did you hear that too, Gilbert?" Guus looks around warily. "I have not heard anything like it before. Should we wake the others and investigate, do you think, or wait?"
Guus looks out into the night, seeing if he can locate the source of the screech. Perception: 20
Can I tell if the erratic movements are bringing it towards us?
"Whatever it is it is swimming and fast, though maybe without purpose. The sound seemed pained, perhaps. Or mad. I cannot tell if we should find it to either help it or put it out of its misery, or if we should avoid it altogether."
(Don't forget to tell who you wake for the fourth and final watch)

{I tested out rolling from the character sheets to see how it showed up. It shows up in the game log, and I'm pretty sure all of us, not just me, get to see it. Let's try rolling from the character sheets. I think it'll be easier to track than searching for numbers in these lines of text. Well, actually I rolled history check for Guus. (A 22? Incredible.) So before we continue, how exactly do you feel about me making rolls for your characters to keep the game moving? I think we might do that in combat, which otherwise (from my experience) drags on in a play-by-post format.}
Guus sees some longships in the distance. Humans. How strange it is that they war with their own kind. The sea elves are disdainful of humans' tendency to go to war against other humans. What was the country of Saltmarsh called? Key-land? Keoland? Those ships are likely from there, carrying soldiers. The country bordering that nation, Hold of Sea Princes, is where the smugglers, slavers, and pirates come from. Keoland must be fighting against them at sea. It must be for the purpose of protecting its own shores or possibly conquering the land.
Other than that, there is little of interest during Guus's watch. The time comes for the next watch. Guus finds Vooaat and rouses his sleeping comrade.
{Also, could everyone fill out their character description a bit more? Like personality, flaws, but also age, faith, alignment, and those things. It helps me get a better grasp of these characters. For age, locathah mature to adulthood at 10 years and like to about 80 years.}
(Fine with DM rolling for passive stuff and initiative as well)

Here is the only 5e art of a locathah that I am aware of:
Locathah have looked different across the editions. Here is the 1e AD&D cover of the module Danger at Dunwater. The creature on the right is a locathah.
((As for you rolling. If there is a roll you initiate, i.e. walking down the beach and you want us to roll for perception, I am fine if you do it. If is something the character initiates, i.e. I want to try and convince someone that I am telling the truth, i should roll persuasion with the post when I write it. As to combat, i don't have a problem with rolling initiative and saving throws in response to enemy attacks, but again, things I initiate, i.e. attacks, I want to roll.
Also, in the future, lets set up the watch order ahead of time, to speed things up.))
I am so sorry for not thinking of this sooner. Well, better late than never, right? There is a section in Xanathar's Guide to Everything called "This is Your Life." It has sections where you can roll to determine your origin (birthplace, your parents, siblings, etc.). It has a section where you can roll/choose "I became a [class] because..." Would anyone like to do these? For all the origins and personal choice rolls, I'd let you choose rather than roll. But you can roll if you want. Then there's a table for life events. You all, if you'd like to do this, would roll for 1 event if your character is under 20 (remember, locathah mature at age 10) and 1d4 if your character is 21-30. And I'm not trying to imply that anyone has lacking backstories. It just helps me a lot when I make characters and it might be fun. This is completely optional. For life events, you roll, but if you get something that doesn't fit the character or backstory, you reroll 1 time, and if you don't like that, you can disregard that. I believe can access XGtE, courtesy of sixfoot10, who enabled content sharing. I'll keep the game moving, so don't worry about holding us up. Also, if you see a 7th character in the campaign, don't worry. That's just a placeholder character sheet for me to attach stat block like boats/ships to it.

The source of the screech is moving erratically through the water, changing depth as well as direction. It is faster than you; you can tell that much.
As suddenly as it began, the screech has faded. All is silent again except for the sound of the wind and the waves.
"I'm concerned, but I think the danger has passed, lets not wake the others." He then goes back to sleep.

I'm happy to use the character sheet rolling. I have no problem with the DM rolling passive stuff like saving throws and Initiative regularly.

(I missed it, my bad. Sorry.)
Vooaat makes a regular patrol around the camp like clockwork, attempting to discern every sound and sight for the frontier which this is.
