Hurren Oakthorn passes a few days in the dichotomy of studying spiritual discipline of mind and body during the day, and exploring the fighting pits at the Greasy Weasel by night. While not bloodthirsty, he is intrigued by the chance to test his martial skills against motivated opponents. [Anyone want to do a PVP or test out an NPC?]
He also feels a desire to seek out those who might be victimized by criminal or subversive elements, so he will spend some time and money (3 days and 50 gold?) making contacts, friends and establishing connections or informants in the Burrows and the Shadows. [No idea what this would cost, thoughts?]
Soriah gratefully accepts the 25 gp advance, and takes her leave of Muse Ronwe. She arranges with Finnan (or his wife) to have a room of her own, and stows her adventuring gear there (keeping her lute, rapier and dagger with her).
She decides to head out and explore the town. The Arcade captures her interest, and she wanders inside to investigate this unusual establishment. Upon entering, she is delighted by the sounds and sights of many townspeople participating in games. Laughter and music ring pleasantly in her ears as she wanders from section to section. Finally she spots an attractive Tabaxi that seems to be in charge of the barely-contained chaos, and she approaches to introduce herself.
"Greetings, sir. I am new in Haven, recently arrived from Faerun. I am called Soriah, and am at your service." She bows. "Please, could you explain this wonderful place to me. How does one participate in the games? Are they for pleasure only, or are the 'winners' compensated somehow?"
The black-furred tabaxi, as fuzzy as any you have ever seen, smiles from ear to ear as you approach. He is decked out in an multi-coloured vest and dark purple pants, possibly suede, with a foppish, wide-brimmed hat, from which protrudes three feathers in red, green, and yellow. "Welcome to the Arcade, Soriah, who is at my service! It is my great pleasure to meet you! I am Moxie Rockets, the co-founder and showman-in-chief of this astonishing establishment and I'd be happy to show you around. Have you ever been to a carnival? Just think of the Arcade as a carnival, only infinitely more convenient since it doesn't happen to travel around. It's always here for you, whenever you need a diversion from the travails of the world. Like I always say, your joy is guaranteed! To participate, all you need is a little bit of coin. Most of our attractions are either 5cp or 1sp, although a few of our finest might set you back slightly more. But don't worry about having to make change everywhere, we'll get you set up at the ticket booth over here, where you can exchange some coin for Rocket Bucks! 5cp for one, 1sp for two, you get the idea. And for every five Rocket Bucks you buy at a time, get a sixth on the house! What a bargain! As to your question about potential rewards, it depends on the attraction. While you can't technically win at having your fortune told by the most reliable diviners in the entire demiplane, you're certainly a winner for having taken control of your future! If you're inclined to show off your impressive physique, you can try to best our strongman, err, strongperson challenge, or to ride our famous Iron Bull. We have all sorts of other games, including those for the more dextrous, such as myself, so don't despair if raw strength is not your forte. And don't forget, we have a variety of food and beverages found only in the Arcade, along with face painting, masks, and hair braiding (usually for the young ones, but we do serve the young at heart!) So tell me, what more would you like to know?" He extends his paw, evidently aiming to lead Soriah to the ticket booth, if she is amenable.

Searching for a buyer: 19
Malichi spends a good part of the week searching for a Buyer for the Hat, but no luck yet. "So I guess I'll keep looking" he thinks to himself "In the meantime, this could be a lot of fun". Finding a mirror, Malichi uses the Hat of Disguises he starts changing his features. "Lose the horns, skin a light tan, medium brown hair" he pauses "and green eyes. So this is me as a Human?"

Malichi just stands by watching, grinning "This guy's good! One of the best I've seen in a while" he thinks to himself. He can't hear every word. Doesn't need to. The sounds of the crowd, the music, the smells, it always pulls at his heart. He catches a glimpse of himself in a mirror and realizes he's still wearing the 'Human suit' "Why not?" he thinks, and heads in.
Soriah smiles and places her hand in Moxie's proffered paw.
"Why don't you acquaint me to one of those unique 'beverages' that is only served here, and recommend a game or two. And since I'm new in town, maybe you could introduce me or at least point out some Haven-ites it would be helpful to know."

Moxie takes Soriah's hand. "Excellent choice, milady! Let's take care of that beverage first, then we can chat about the games." Moxie, ever the gentleman, leads Soriah over to one of the beverage stands and picks up a menu, then looks it over. "You're in luck, we have some excellent selections on the menu today. If you have any questions about these concoctions, please let me know. I should advise you that some of them may have some mildly exotic effects." He winks at Soriah and hands the menu to her.
Glowglass: A gnomish concoction made from glowing mushrooms. Most non-gnomes refuse to drink this sweet liquor, while most gnomes laugh at them for missing out on a delightful beverage. - 2 Silver a Shot
Jelly Drink: It's just as it sounds like. The drink is comprised of a green minty liquid filled with gelatinous cubes that can either be chewed or swallowed whole. The drink itself is a little sour but with the sweetness of the cubes in contrast, it makes it a rather unique and flavoursome experience. - 10 Copper
Twisty Lite: Topped in a thick layer of savory yogurt, it is both a drink and meal in one. The drink itself contains the flavours of blueberries mixed in with a helping of a fizzy vanilla soda. You feel youthful, almost as if you've been taken a few years back into your past. - 30 Copper
Banana Milkshake: It's thick, it's creamy, and oh so banana-y. Add chunks of ice to make it a refreshing drink throughout the hot summer months. You will feel refreshed and cool. - 3 Copper
Blerry: Of halfling origin, this is a fermented juice of berries, honey and spices. There are regional and seasonal variations. Some varieties are dry, but most versions are at least slightly sweet, and almost all ideally have a light carbonation. Ours is bit on the sweet side, and fizzy enough that you will feel refreshed, energized and, usually, somewhat cheered. - 1 Silver
Citrus Tea: An orange slice decorates the side of the glass in which it is served. Tastes of a mixture of orange, lemon, and ginger with a vague hint of spice. Travellers and nobles alike ingest this drink when they have stomach upsets as it is known to aid in both indigestion as well as constipation. Is also rather good for helping cure the common cold. Can be consumed either warm or cold. - 5 Copper

A slight half-elven woman with pale skin and a black ponytail awakens sitting against an outside wall of the Copper Dragon Tavern, with that the first thing in her mind.
It's a reasonable thought. Amelia Velasir went to sleep in an inn in Athkatla. She woke up here, outside, in a city that she doesn't recognize, but can confidently say is not Athkatla. So she has a great many questions.
Maybe whoever runs this place can answer them. Amelia stands, walks around to the front, and enters, finding herself in a tavern. Cool. She can do taverns. She walks up to the counter, speaking bluntly to the person behind it. "Hi. You wouldn't happen to know where in the gods' name I am, would you?"

She walks up to the counter, speaking bluntly to the person behind it. "Hi. You wouldn't happen to know where in the gods' name I am, would you?"
"Another one" the half-elven woman behind the bar says to herself with a smile. "My name is Theran, Theran Amakiir. Welcome to Haven. This is the Copper Dragon Tavern, my wife and I own the place. In general Haven a great place, aside from being the "ant trap" of the multiverse. Tell you what, look over the menu. Whatever you'd like is on the house today. Think of it as a 'welcome to Haven'. Anything you'd like to know, just ask" she tells you
The thought of free stuff doesn't seem to assuage Amelia's many concerns. "That's all well and good, but I'm more interested in how I got here and how to get back to Athkatla. Hells, it doesn't even need to be that, so long as it's somewhere on Faerun."
The thought of free stuff doesn't seem to assuage Amelia's many concerns. "That's all well and good, but I'm more interested in how I got here and how to get back to Athkatla. Hells, it doesn't even need to be that, so long as it's somewhere on Faerun."
"Oh? I'm from Yartar. As far as how you got here, Haven has always had a problem with interplanar travel. Sometimes people traveling from one plane to another wind up here. Some, they weren't even traveling, just picked up by some magical rift and dumped here. There's a Wizard a couple streets from here who thinks the problem is caused by a "chunk" of Primordial Chaos that circles Haven in a strange, intractable orbit. I've learned to take things that Wizards say with a grain of salt." she tells you.
"As for getting out, you're best bet is to talk to Myk Longreen of Myk's Magic Shoppe. It's a 'tent' on the north side of the Market Place. It's easy to miss but most people can point it out to you" she says "If it's some life or death, world shaking emergency he might try making some sort of arrangements to get you home, but you could be stuck here. Haven's short history is mostly about people stuck here who can't get out. Tell you what, the offer of a free meal doesn't have a time limit on it. Go see Myk. See what he says. The Market Place is just north of this group of buildings. We call the neighborhood "the Scholars". Continue north through the Market Place. When the market stalls start thinning out, ask for Myk's. Afterwards, if you're still in town, come back and let me know how it went." she says with a smile.
Myk just stands there for a moment, looking at the half-elf maiden, with a kind smile on his old face. "Well dear, that was about the most abrupt entrance I've yet to see in all my years, aside from those few instances in which they were perpetrated by local authorities. If you mean getting out of this magic shop, then I can't imagine you'll have much trouble finding your way out on your own. I imagine you're talking about something else, however. Let me guess, you're new in town, not sure how you got here, and not thrilled about your new environs. Why don't you tell me a little bit more about your particular situation?" He gestures toward a couple of chairs off to the side of the main counter and slowly walks over to have a seat.

Amelia nods. “You’re right on all counts. Apologies, I’m not one for small talk.” She takes the offered seat. “To answer your question, last night, I was an assassin going to sleep in an inn in Athkatla.” She suddenly realizes he might not be from Faerûn, or hells, even from Toril. “Which is in Faerûn, because I’m definitely not there anymore and I can no longer depend on people having basic geographical knowledge.” She’s rambling. Stop rambling, Amelia. “Point being, I woke up sitting outside here. And I’m not sure what happened while I was asleep.”
Myk looks at Amelia sympathetically. "I understand that going through what you've described must be very unsettling. It might comfort you to know that a great many people here have had similar experiences. You might gain some comfort from speaking with some of them. Maybe they could help you figure out how you might fit in. Haven's not such a bad place, you know?" He then looks at her with a more serious expression. "Tell me, how did you come to be an assassin in Athkatla?"

"Oh, well, I'm an assassin in a lot of places. It's just that my last job was in Athkatla, so that's where I was." Amelia shakes her head. "As for your question, that's a long story, believe me. Short version is, I'm good at killing, so I decided to start getting paid for it."
Myk responds gravely, "That is a matter of some gravity for someone your age. You can relate your story to me, I have the time. While you are disturbingly forthright in the declaration of your profession, if you are reluctant to discuss it further, I understand. Either way, I'm afraid the only place you'll find anything close to that kind of work here is the Exploration House. While death is unavoidable in certain scenarios, the House encourages creativity in their work to avoid such unpleasantness. Finding employment there will likely keep you out of trouble and satisfy whatever pleasure you get from ending lives. There are plenty of dangerous things in the lands surroundingHaven." Myk pauses for a moment and fixes Amelia with a steely gaze. "Understand that Haven is a small city, nothing like your Athkatla, people will know of your deeds... and misdeeds."

Amelia shakes her head. “No—I think there’s been a miscommunication. I’m not looking for contracts here in Haven, I’m looking to get out of Haven and back to Faerûn. I kill out of necessity, not for pleasure. It’s a job. And it’s the sort of job I doubt I can complete here. Like I said, it’s a long story, and I don’t care to relay it to someone I just met.”
Hurren Oakthorn wanders into Myk's Magic Shoppe with a question on his mind. The young-ish wood elf is dressed in simple peasant robes, although he does seem to wear some sort of religious emblem on a cord around his neck. His skin is pale, and his hair dark brown, his eyes the color of sea foam.
"Hey Myk!" he begins, "Do you know where...." he suddenly stops as he realizes he is interrupting a conversation between the mage and a half-elven woman he doesn't recognize. A slight blush colors his cheeks, and he bows deeply to both of them. "Please forgive my interruption. I did not mean to intrude." He backs away, but his eyes glance up at the half-elf. "Greetings and welcome, milady" he murmurs in Elvish, and turns to inspect a table of magical trinkets.
Hurren looks troubled. He responds in Common so as not to be rude to Myk. "Forgive me if I have offended, mil... er, 'female person'. It was meant as a token of respect. I was raised among bachelors and am not entirely sure of the rules of etiquette in mixed company. My name is Hurren Oakthorn."
Hurren Oakthorn passes a few days in the dichotomy of studying spiritual discipline of mind and body during the day, and exploring the fighting pits at the Greasy Weasel by night. Amelia turns to look at the elf, responding in Elvish. "Greetings, and thank you. But don't call me milady."
He looks at Myk apologetically for interrupting.
