Did you find any information on your trip to the market, gear asked Whistler privately.
Eager to move things along, the fighter tried to help the fallen man to his feet, while whispering his response, "Just a couple fella's talkin' 'bout sum sorta blue mist, sayin' it was dangerous."
At Gear's public question, Whistler scrutinized the symbols on the man.
Key haggles (persuasion 6) and buys 100 ft of rope.
Whatever method Key was using to try to lower down the price of the rope he only managed to get judgemental looks from the seller, he immediately was concerned about what this person was going to use the rope for, Key's ruckus did caught the attention of others visiting the Grand Souk.

(( History Check:6 ))
"Could both of you stop staring? Sometimes asking a man will get you more information...anyways..." The man looks for something on the ground and throws his hand to a long stick barely strong enough to carry his weight, though he is not old it seems that standing up takes a lot more energy than it should " Whatever you heard or saw me doing is yours, I hope that it turns out to be useful" he cleans his robes as he gentle taps it. "You might be in a hurry and I won't take more of your time"
This man’s actions seems so erratic… Kind of like when a thought churned itself up from deep within Gear’s memory coil, but happening to a fleshie… Gear suspected the man had been placed under some spell or curse… that or possessed in some way by another. Maybe even the woman he spoke of.
“A hurry to come and a hurry to go, is that not too a curse on Chult?” Gear wondered just what this man’s intentions were, but perhaps the mystery as a whole had to become messier before it became clear just what was happening in the depths of the jungle.
“So which of these leads do you want to track down first? Do any of them sound familiar or more related to our search?” Gear asked Case, Aranea, Whistler, and Key.
The goal was probably to figure out what had to be done with the ‘Soulmonger Artifact’.
This ‘Camp Righteous’ might be a lead, but Rightousness sounded militant and not cursed or imbued to his understanding of language, maybe not the priority right now.
This Guardian of Orolunga (was Orolunga a place or a group?) who resides East of Mbala sounded interesting, as even if he wasn’t to be trusted, the elder gentleman had mentioned she would help them with what they seek (do we not seek the Soulmonger artifact?!?)
and finally this ‘Blue Mist’ would be something to ask some questions on.
unless others in the group objected, he decided it would be ok to ask around related to the location of Mbala, and where the sightings of the blue mist were without revealing their mission. if they could get two or more unrelated people to confirm a location for either of these, and they weren’t too far into the jungle, they might start there (especially Mbala).
Gear stepped toward gondolo and asked, “Show us where on the map Mbala is located and we will consider your offer.”
Whistler, do you have our map? Gear messages privately.
”Oh wait I see Mbala in the map already! Guess we don’t really need your service after all…” Gear smiled his twisted metal at the two locals.
turning to the group he suggested innocently, “we just need to find the next boat up the soshenstar river:)” while tracing the river as it goes deeper into the island on the map.
“oh look! Camp Righteous is along the way!” His excitement betrayed him, as Gear lost any awareness of how he came off to others in this moment.
Aranea studied the map with extreme interest. Though the warforged was a little too open and exuberant for her preferences, she nevertheless agreed with his assessment. She didn't trust the men who had approached them with offers of aid. Surely they could find their way on their own. Traveling by river would be quickest and probably safest as well.
"I think you're right, Gear," she says, smiling at the warforged.

Gear smiles back at Aranea, believing they are becoming fast friends. Once the group is striking in a direction, he can lay back and organize the various priorities of thought grinding through his mind. The chaos of selecting where to go, with whom, and why was getting at his internal need for order.
”Case, Whistler, do either of you know where we can procure a ride upriver? And what say you about stopping at camp righteous along the way? Should we side track or stay aimed at our larger goals?”
"We should be able to grab us sum canoes," said Whistler as he reflected on what he'd spotted at the bazaar. "An' personally, I don't mind stoppin' on the way. I'm here fo' tha' 'venture o' it all, so the mo' the betta'!"
"I think I saw canoes earlier when we were in the market," Aranea notes. "Perhaps we can purchase some for our journey."
Now that they seem to be forming a plan of action, she glances at the others. "What did you all make of that Gondolo and Faroul? Do you think they're legitimate or do you think they're running some sort of con?" She was particularly interested to hear what Whistler thought. Not that the warforged didn't have a lot of experience but Gear in particular seemed a more innocent soul but Whistler seemed like he'd been around the block a time or two so to speak.

The fighter stroked his beard. "Even if they's pure as tha' driven snow, we ain't need 'em. We can find our own way 'round, and it ain't like they know where our real target is."
Shrugging, he looked at the others. He thought what he thought, but he wouldn't try to override everyone else if they thought differently. "My vote's we go on our own," he said, with an unspoken willingness to go along with whatever the final vote tally turned out to be.
Gear tried to think like a human, and came up with something to share: “We should work with people who have some skin in the game. So unless we trust them, we shouldn’t have to pay upfront.”
“Lets try on our own, and if we need, maybe someone at Camp Righteous might join us for reasons beyond gold!”
feeling like he’d understood something about intention, Gear proudly joined the others toward the Bazaar.

Key walks up. "I offer my services as an excellent forester free of charge, on the condition that I get a share of whatever valuable stuff we might happen to stumble upon"
Gear looks down at the tiny Kobold. “Skin in the game! I like it. Do you fear what lurks hidden I. The darkness of the jungle? Are you good at procuring food through forage fish and hunt?”
Gear turns to Aranea, “do you trust this one more? All he wants is a fair share of future treasure!”
Aranea nodded at Whistler's assessment, which she happened to share. There was really no need to bring even more people into this venture, especially total strangers.
To Gear she said, "I do actually. Desire for gold is a motivation I understand completely."
Curious to learn more about the warforged, she asked Gear, "What do you hope to gain from this adventure, Gear?"

Gear is taken aback by the question. After a few moments of silence and statuesque stillness, he [messages] Aranea privately: “a purposeful life… to have lived… to prove I am sentient… to myself & others,”
…while saying out loud: “I want to aid a return to balance in this world, and help our patron with her wishes along the way.”

Whistler breathed a sigh of relief, then coughed awkwardly, trying to cover up his embarrassment at misdiagnosing the man's condition.

(( OOC: To save a bunch of time and confusion I'm just going to presume we left the man who collapsed and have already made it back to the tavern. ))
Seeing the others still dealing with the newcomers, Whistler laid out the map onto the table they were at.
