Dagult Neverember’s enemies in Waterdeep do not trust the man — and rightfully so. Representatives of the ruling council of Waterdeep, known as the Lords of Waterdeep, have hired adventurers to pose as settlers in Leilon, all the while reporting anything suspicious to the rulers of the city. Before long, the adventurers will be embroiled in the action. (Or, instead of spying for the Lords of Waterdeep, you can choose any powerful group in the Sword Coast area.) If you choose this option, you will receive an additional 400gp to start with, and more whenever you make your report to your contact.
Karl - bugbear - druid - criminal/spy
Karl is a bugbear who was raised in the tribe to be a shaman. He had an unusual teacher, however. A shape shifter who taught him the ways of the druid. Karl eventually left the tribe, searching for larger meaning. He made his way to Waterdeep, where his inside knowledge and powers drew the eyes of the Council. He became a spy, usually infiltrating goblin camps and hob legions.
This job will be his most difficult, applying his skills to a different circumstance. He has a hat of disguise to help him pass for a Goliath, but he's yet to see if it will be enough.
Brenward’s parents were poor farmers on the out skirts of Waterdeep. During a particularly bad year when Brenward was about 4 or 5, his parents gave (i.e., sold) him to the House of the Darkmoon, a monastery that was located in the area they lived in. Unbeknownst to the locales, the monastery provided espionage services to the Lords of Waterdeep. The youngster proved an apt pupil in the monastery, and grew up learning both the martial arts taught by the monks, as well as the skills he would need to survive as a spy.
Although Brenward never saw his parents after being given to the monastery, the youngster enjoyed his youth. The only issue he really faced growing up was another of the children being taught at the monastery. This child, Meilor, was a half-elf and felt that his elven heritage made him better than the humans. A year older than Brenward, Meilor took great joy in undercutting anything Meilor was doing, and a rivalry soon developed between the individuals.
Brenward has recently completed his training, including passing a couple of tests in the real world. With his training complete, he has been sent to Leilon to spy upon Lord Neverember’s activities in the area.
Name: Tam Race: Variant Human (Feat: Skill Expert) Base Stats: STR 10, DEX 15, CON 14, INT 10, WIS 14, CHA 8 (Sub)Class: Way of the Open Hand Monk 6 (Starting Class) / Fighter 1 Equipment: Spent some of 500gp on a tent, an iron pot, a couple of pouches & cook's utensils Extras:Uncommons - Bag of Holding & Goggles of Night; Commons - Potion of Healing & Heward's Handy Spice Pouch Background: Athlete, Love of Adventure (rare item: Dragonhide Belt) Backstory:
Tam was born the fourth son of a poor farming family. His father, after noting how small and sickly he was as a youth, actually apprenticed him to "The Servants of the Bamboo Forest," a clan of halfling monks, when the child was only five. Tam grew to learn their ways as well as their language, eventually becoming something of a known figure as the monks occasionally traveled and gave performances. Tam, for his part became stronger and healthier under the rigorous training, and eventually devoted himself to perfecting his physical form and usage of ki. When he came of age, he rejected his father's instruction to return home to farm. Instead, he left the task to his several siblings and decided to leave, to go adventuring in the pursuit of mastery of his physical abilities. He has been wandering the world for several years now, and his desire to challenge himself and grow has only increased. A participant in thwarting the attack at the Wayside Inn, he has naturally chosen to move onto Leilon.
This concept is recycled from another game that fizzled out. I never got to see this character through and would like to give him another shot.
Character name: Siegfried Braun
Race: Hill Dwarf
Class: Life Domain Cleric (Chauntea)
Background/Backstory: Clan Crafter
Siegfried was left to the church of Chauntea as an infant and raised by the faith. Deeply devout, he excelled in his studies and took a great interest in both the cultivation of crops and the brewing of beers, ales and stouts. As a young man, he studied with dwarven braumeisters and traveled the world of behalf of the church, seeking out new seedlings and exotic breeds of plants. His travels took him from the southern slopes of the Spine of the World to the steaming jungles of Chult.
Now, nearing middle age, he is prepared to settle down and truly begin his life's work. The Church of Chauntea has given him a plot of land near Leilon, 500gp, and a mission: he is to found a shrine, build a brewery, and begin cultivating a new breed of cold-weather hops on the land given to him. He will be responsible for attracting a new flock and getting this operation up and running, for the glory of Chauntea, for life, and for the advancement of agriculture.
He is generally a jolly, outgoing figure and he dresses with a mind for fashion and culture, but he takes his mission extremely seriously and is absolutely devoted to the cause.

Background/Backstory: (Noble) Ace was born in Phandalin. He is the grandson of the great Linene Graywind. He lives with the weight of living up to his family's standards: to become as great of a merchant as Linene Graywind.

A Stake in Leilon
Land and property is valuable along the Sword Coast. For Ace's service, someone with a vested interest in Leilon might offer Ace their own land. Ace will use this land to build a merchant trading post. I claim a plot of land (preferable in the northern region) in Leilon as my own, though I am responsible to finance any buildings on it.
Restless. That is the best way to describe her. Maggwyn grew up on the streets of Waterdeep as your common pickpocket, nothing too serious. She made it enough to survive and she always found Waterdeep a tough place to live in, never did her any favors. She eventually took to the road to see what else the world had to offer and found living in the wild was much more suited to who she was. In her travels she met a sorcerer halfling, named Pembleton. They became fast friends and he taught her a little bit about magic - though she has a tough time controlling it.
When she heard that Leilon was again attempting to be rebuilt, this time by a Lord from Neverwinter, she went back to Waterdeep as she was curious what was really going on. With her skills having improved over the years, her name has been whispered amongst those who know things and a couple weeks after being in town she was asked by one of the Lords of Waterdeep to travel to Leilon and be one of their spies. She refused, but decided to go to Leilon on her own to decipher what exactly is going on and see what good, or trouble she can get into.
Waril LeClanc was not a member of the nobility by birth, but by association he nearly so. He grew up in the city of Baldur's Gate as part of a wealthy merchant family that was close to several of the up and coming noble houses. All seemed to be going well for the young man, quick of wit, charming and good with a blade his future looked to be of promise.. but as with many stories there was tragedy to come. A string of disasters at sea ruined his families reputation and fortune, including the loss of his eldest siblings to a shipwreck. Waril turned to more questionable powers for answers, and power, to try and sort out what had happened. Investigation led him to believe that a rival family had caused the downfall of his family and he swore an oath of vengeance against them.
He has spent the last several years travelling Faerun in search of clues, righting injustices along the way and growing to love life on the road. While vengeance remains he has embraced his role as a protector of all and sees his personal quest against those that hurt his family as an extension of that. When word reached him of Leilon being rebuilt he headed that way to help and chase the faint rumor of his quarry as well.
Magic items: Bag of holding(Uncommon), Cloak of protection (Uncommon), Everbright lantern (Common), Featherfall token (Common).
Backstory: The son of a famous blacksmith, Tyrel has set out to claim the stake on the land. wanting to open an extension of his parents smithing business. Atleast that was what was always planned for Tyrel. Not his own of course. He wanted to do nothing more than research and study the arcane arts. He always had a strong connection to arcane arts from birth. For him they manifested as psychic. Now having been send to claim this land and oversee the construction Tyrel feels stuck between the expectations of his parents and his need to do his own thing.
