Welcome to the sleepy, lakeside town of Drynna. Located at the end of the upper Mooren River Run where it completes its long journey from the Alabaster Sierras in the north to the crystal clear waters of Mooren Lake. A good size town, Drynna has a population of 2,230. Its residents are mostly humans (80%), gnomes (8%), halflings (8%), and elves (4%). Drynna’s chief export is fish and it supplies most of eastern Tal’Dorei. The local government revolves around what’s called the Sunrise Lodge, or simply “the Lodge,” a membership of community leaders who meet and vote on important delegations and law-oriented decisions. The law enforcement is largely volunteer-run and internally policed both by senior enforcers and the Lodge.
Our story begins...
The citizens and visitors alike are vanishing from the city! These disappearances leave little sign as to why or what could be happening. As the mystery grows the city council in the Sunrise Lodge finally seeks outsiders to help them end this terror plaguing the prospertiy of the city.

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
Backstory: Belkris was separated from his only family Aunt Althea, during a storm and was forced down from the skies after being hit by pelting hail stones. He unceremoniously plopped down onto a merchant vessel injured. There on the ships deck was short quivering Belkris with some of his feathers missing. He recoiled from the imposing figure of Captain Elouise. With a forceful hand she lifted Belkris easily as he weighs only 80 pounds, and brings him into an empty cabin. There he was nursed back to health and to repay her kindness he agreed to work for her as a sailor. Well more accurately the ships cook. He wanted to stay on the ship called the Jumping Clam, in hopes of finding any news of his aunt.
Captain Elouise was a strict taskmaster. In beginning he was taught how to fish and he never knew when to give up as he was pulled into the ocean a few times due to his stubbornness.. It wasn’t until later that Belkris realized that his everyday chores was training in martial arts. When he confronted the Captain, she told him the truth that in her old age she wanted to pass on her knowledge and began to truly show secrets of the Way of Mercy. Some time passed and he finally heard of a rumor that there was an Aarakocra in Drynna. Somehow Captain Elouise knew and gave him a white raven mask as mark of being a monk of the Way of Mercy. He took to the air and made his way to Drynna. Once there Belkris works as a fisherman as he hunts for clues on the whereabouts of his Aunt.
Backstory: My power arises from my family's bloodline. I inherited the blessing passed down from my family, but didn't know about it because I was orphaned at young age and was raised by my uncle. I became a sorcerer because sensing something special in me, a stranger passing through town taught me how to control my gift. After deciding to leave with Gadrial, he taught me how to harness my powers to the fullest potential. He became not only my mentor, but my closest friend and compatriot. Unfortunately he fell in one of the battles raging across the land.
Afterwards I became a war courier for years, enjoying the vagaries of the open road. Life carried on smoothly from saddle to barstool to battlefield for a time, until I got caught up in the machinations of a rebel force seeking to supplant a local power. Unbeknownst to me, a contract I took involved the delivery of an artifact that would have delegitimized this local power. Though I quickly handed it over to the sovereign's agents when they confronted me, and swore secrecy on pain of death, I still found it wise to depart the realm I've always known. So I've set out for new lands and, while trepidatious, I hope to find more bold and adventurous companions for whatever's next.
Goals: Gain enough gold and influence to have own lands along with a family and lineage, gain enough magical power to gain access to the fey lands of his ancestry and look for family roots
Melios grew up near the coast, living in a small halfling village where they were considered part of the community despite their differences. One day Melios found an interest in magic. He traveled from city to city, looking for magic texts and knowledge. His travels however, made him short on coin, so they needed to do some odd jobs to get some gold back.
Backstory: Heiros is a retired soldier from the marine forces. After his service, he came to Drynna to enjoy a peaceful retirement with his little brother. He would sometimes help protect the fishing boats while out on the sea.
As the string of disappearances began, his brother was one of the unfortunate souls to have vanished. Now he answers the call of the Sunrise Lodge, as he has personal stake in this.
Backstory: Having recently arrived by ship, Kerri has been in Drynna no more than a month. A refugee from recent fighting in her homeland, she is looking to put her fighting skills to use to support herself and her friend. (More to come separately.)
Backstory: Born into a fairly wealthy and prominent merchant house, Lancelin had a sheltered upbringing, early being groomed for diplomacy and negotiations. As a young adult he was in the service of the local ruler as an advisor and seemed to have a bright future, but one fateful night their settlement was brutally attacked, leaving Lancelin as the only survivor of his house. After travelling far he and his childhood friend finally arrived in Drynna where he hopes to build a merchant house of his own one day in honor of his late family. He longs to once again enjoy the finer things in life after a long and arduous journey across Tal'Dorei.
Backstory : Mina grew up in Drynna. Her small family is part of the fishing trade and makes a decent living. When she was old enough, she decided to go out on her own and learn more about the area, other than the sea. She figured at some point she would be back, as she missed the sea creatures about as much as she missed her family now that she traveled in the woods along the borders of Drynna. Her best friend, a wood elf named Doren, helped her as she tried to find herself and make something of who she was. The two of them hunted monsters that threatened the area and did what she could to protect Drynna. She thought it funny, first to help feed the civilians of the town she's always been apart of, now she helps protect it from coming threats. That is, until Doren disappeared after going into town on one of his weekly visits. Mina came looking for him the next day, and learned about the disappearances that were happening from within.
Backstory: Mae had always naturally been the center of attention, whether she wanted it or not. She was naturally gifted, in more ways than one, but always saw herself as a free spirit, despite the prodding of her angelic overseer, and her human parents. She was always enthralled with music and the arts, simply loving life and trying to spread cheer and good will. This came at a cost however, as her natural attraction made for many jealous would-be suitors and fiendish rivals who could not stand the presence of her divine heritage. Seeing growing threats to her human family, Maevla finally decided to leave home and start traveling, learning more about the world and the forces at work, but always with a song on her lips, and broken-hearted followers in her wake.
(1) Will the campaign actually take place on the forums, on Discord, or elsewhere? (I ask because of the emphasized "character voice type") (2) How frequently will we be expected to post? (3) How frequently should we expect the DM to post?
Backstory: Dalin loves the land. As a runner his job was to scout the lands around his clan's keep. One day he came upon a dieing bear, he felt compelled to try and save its life. Though his efforts where for not he caught the attention of a passing druid. Dalin and the druid soon became friends and they spent many an hour walking the lands near Dalin's keep.
Eventually Dalin choose to leave his old life behind to walk to druid path. He changed his name to Timber and joined the Enclave. After his training was completed he was sent Drynna to investigate the troubles.
Backstory: I don't want to reveal too much, but basically, Troy spent most of his life smuggling weapons to his clan who were at war with a group of humans. The goblin clan had two gods - one of kindness, nobility, and all the best aspects of war (like Athena) and one of bloodshed, death, cruelty and all the worst aspects of war (like Ares). The clan exclusively worshipped the first one, and considered the other to be the greatest evil imaginable. That being said, after one of his missions Troy came home to find his home in ruins, and more humans on the horizon. Troy tried and tried to convince the god of nobility to help them, but he was silent, refusing to answer. So, in a fit of desperation to try and protect the few survivors, Troy made a bargain with the other god of war, the one who specialized in death and cruelty - Troy's devotion for his people's lives.
Delighted, the god agreed, making Troy his cleric and destroying the entire human army. Troy left his ruined village in disgrace, knowing he could never go back as a follower of an evil god. He seeks to find his way in a broken world, hoping to one day confront his previous god about his silence in his people's need.

Backstory: Flynn comes from a long and proud lineage of military service members, so it was no surprise that he enlisted as soon as he was able to. He quickly rose to a position of leadership, and was given command of a platoon (4 squads of 8 members each) by his 4th year of service. He served honorably until he received word that his father had passed away. Upon returning to his village, he was granted early retirement to care for his ailing mother and started training as a smith until her passing a year later. With nothing to tie him down and the promise to his mother on her deathbed to be the first in his family to rise above simple soldier and make a name for himself, he wanders the land using his skills however he can
Goal - to bring the idea of peaceful coexistence to all of the peoples of the north end of Mooren Lake to include the nearby Orcs. That the various peoples may not always agree on all matters all the time, but they can at least arrive at some sort of compromise.

The thing is, no matter how focused a town is on one given industry, there will be those who ply a different trade. Consider, for example, the Town of Drynna, completely landlock and well nigh 100 leagues or more from the coast, yet best known for it's commercial fishery. Nonetheless, it is home to a certain half elf named Rafhorn Wyther, a youngster who makes a solid living as a hunter and guide, leatherworker and deal broker. Why, he's even gotten the orcs and the dwarfs to start trading in a modest way...
Looks very interesting. Unsure if it has been covered in the Legend of Vox Machina animated series. which I must say is awesome, I started watching it only a few days ago.
