Alternatively, Yoku could start taking ranks in Rogue for the sneak attack damage when targeting an enemy that's next to an ally. Expertise and cunning action also sounds nice.
I'm curious if anyone has feedback.
My opinion is that either Rogue or Blood Hunter would add most damage to Yoku. Battle Master is also a good choice that packs a punch but the superiority dice are few. Our greatest strength is the twilight by Dolrik, I wouldn't try to get temporary HP from another source. Armor of Agathys builds are strongest when coupled with damage reduction and I think need to be focused on that (like including abjuration wizard or clockwork/runechild sorcerer classes) and they want to be hit to deal damage.

Cool, thanks for the analysis. When I played Ranger 5/Fighter 4 with Yoku in my last campaign, he had explosive rounds with his Action Point, self-healing with Second Wind, and usually exploded with Combat Superiority Dice in the first round of combats. Now that I'm splashing into Rogue, I'm eager to see how it will make a difference.
Sure, Ben will keep the cloak warm until someone else wants to use it.
Additionally, I'm wondering if the DM is open to converting Ben into a Wizard with a character sheet. I'd be up for a converted version that's 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th level
Note that steady aim only works for one attack, if you want to add more damage (i.e., adding an attack), you can look into crossbow master feat and use hand crossbows for a new bonus action attack. This will, however, compete with all the other things you can do with your BA, like cunning action/hunter's mark/steady aim.

I'm not looking to break anything, just give me some extra sneak attack damage (every other round) or so and maybe when I'm not casting Hunter's Mark with my bonus, I can use Inquisitive as a bonus to gain advantage on my own. Steady Aim is just something I read about tonight, I'm happy splashing in rogue stuff, it should be fun, if not only because sneak attack at ranged will be inconsistent.
So with extra attack, can you attack once, and "ready" the second attack? I've wondered if that's doable or not to try and get sneak attack on both attacks and this just cost your reaction. I kind of read it as no but curious what you all thing about the idea.

The ready action is an action just like the attack action, which is different from a weapon attack instance. The extra attack feature can only be used with the attack action during your turn. You are right, though, that sneak attack can trigger once per turn, as opposed to once per round, and, therefore, may trigger off turn, e.g., for an attack of opportunity. The sentinel feat is a good way to build on this strategy for a melee focused rogue.

That's a really cool combo, Sentinel Rogue that gives himself advantage on his reaction with sneak attack.

I’d be up for it. He’s only got 1st lvl spells aye? So start with 2nd lvl wizard
Are you thinking full wizard character class or the Mage sidekick class? Cause the Mage has the option of adding onto a previous stat block if I remember right.

If I haven’t offended you, don’t worry. I’m sure I’ll get to you eventually.

I was thinking of 2 levels of Wizard as a playing character class, so super low HP, but I don't know much about the Mage sidekick so I'll check it out.
If I did "start over" with 2 levels of Wizard, what character creation guidelines would I need to follow for stats and race? Or should I just use his 10's and 11's stat array and lose his unique abilities like magic flare and eager initiative.
Wow, these sidekick rules are pretty neat. If I level Ben as a sidekick, and I choose the spellcaster class, he will have all the same stats as before with one additional spell slot, two cantrips, and 1 additional hit die.
It's a tough decision but I'll do it, if not just for the hp.

Since you already allowed Ben to add some spells to his spell list, I won't add more with this new level of sidekick spellcaster. I'll choose cantrips: Blade Ward and Chill Touch, gaining one additional 1st level spell slot, and 1d8 hp 8 if better than 5.

Cool cool. Ben will now share in the XP and I expect him to hit levels 2, 3 and 4 quite quickly
we ready to go?

Yoku's character sheet is leveld up and Ben's in the Extra section ready to go. I think he needs to buy 3x scrolls of Magic Missile to gear back up.
60 gold/scroll right?

Yes, 60 gp for 1st level scrolls. And there are several really good and inexpensive consumables in the sane magic items
Sweet. You have 200 gold, 20 after buying the scrolls.

Did we get 300gp worth of diamonds for Revivify, or did we never have enough for that?
