First off, as a fellow player I really love this idea. It's an unusual wrinkle to the character and I think it allows for some really unique and interesting role-playing opportunities and dynamics.
Having said that, and after giving it a lot of thought, I'm not sure that playing Nathan's "counterpart" is going to land within my comfort zone as a role-player. My sincere apologies.
I really hope you get a chance to play this though!
Maybe reach out to Valeskah. They expressed an interest in playing the Cavalier to someone else's Necro. Maybe you'd be a better fit for each other
Hey valeskah, if groverbloom doesn't want to play a necro counterpart to your cavalier, I would be interested in doing so.
My character, Bridgette Bloodskull (Half-orc Undead Warlock) might not be able to raise massive armies of zombies the way a Wizard or Death Cleric could, but Undead Warlock is definitely thematically a good fit and she would still have some interesting necromancy spells.
Crap, guess I did that to myself by suggesting Valeskah and HunterOrien could consider teaming up.
I suppose I should respectfully withdraw, but ef that, we're supposed to be bad guys! I challenge both of you to see which of us can make the character Valeskah wants to team up with!
"Bridgette Bloodskull shall not back down! By the strength of my ancestors and the magic of my dark master, I shall face any foe!"
(Cut to her lich patron chilling in his tomb, suddenly feeling a mystical ping from the pact bond between them, and going "Damn it, what trouble has that girl gotten herself into this time?")
@groverbloom and @Mister_Whisker you two are hilarious!
I'm happy to go with the flow, or will stand down if you like and the two of you can pair up. I just loved the idea of taking inspiration from Gideon the Ninth as I've just started reading it! :D
Having a great time with all of you just on the recruitment thread, but realizing that if I can't find the time to actually make a character, definitely won't be able to keep up once actually play begins. Going to withdraw.

How would you imagine that the two of them met/what the relationship should be? (for context: Bridgette comes from the absolute bottom of society; she was enslaved by Dark Elves as a child, and was later rescued by her patron [a lich by the name of Akkron who stumbled upon her during completely unrelated business in the Underdark] because he noticed untapped magical potential in her that would have been totally wasted in slavery.) Bridgette is probably best described as Chaotic Neutral as well (not really malicious, and won't try to hurt people who haven't done anything to her... but if they get caught in the crossfire when she's trying to achieve something she won't lose too much sleep as long as she can do the necessary mental gymnastics to make whatever happened 'not her fault').
Are items from the "Book of Erotic Fantasy"... allowed if they meet the magic item requirements? ...what are we comfortable with?
Are (medieval) firearms allowed?
And do Arcane Foci count as one of our common magic items or can we just buy one?
Also, how do we post pictures to the thread? I had figured out how to post a link to a picture on another website, but I can't post pictures like the maps.

Thought I'd drop this here, haven't decided on equipment yet, do just put in starting stuff.
Ended up going on a slightly different direction

Have a blast!
It really is good throughout, but expect some abrupt shifts in genre as you go.
Best fantasy, sci-fi, horror, murder mystery ever written😁
Well, that's a shame, but fare the well! (Bridgette reluctantly puts her club away as her challenger yields)
Hahaha I know what you mean. Nice to chat!

Generally they are not considered magic items, so you can by one and there are common magic items that can be used as arcane foci.
