I decided to add information about The Plague and Plague Doctors in the Campaign Page under Lore Bits. However, Folki won't know about it because he was raised in a tribe.
Hey so, if you haven't noticed, I've tried to maintain an equal XP increase across all characters. I did this so everyone levels up at the same time and I can manage things easier. I did this mostly because this is still my first time DMing. However, I think I'm ready to handle a different party composition in terms of levels. Before I make the change, I want to ask you guys for your opinion.
Would like me to keep the equal XP gain across all PCs or would you like me to give people XP based on whether or not they participated in anything that grants XP (ie PCs will level at different rates)
I would say that we keep the same rate for everyone.
If that such a thing is tricky to manage on table, here in the forums seems to be like a real problem. Having the party split, like we are now, is painful enough, and that way we could end creating a difference between most active and less active people in the forum and that’s not fair if RL gets in the way like it happened recently to Flolki.
IMHO keeping the same level is easier for everyone.
Universal XP seems to be easier to track and easier for players to keep up with. It would be a shame if someone doesn't get XP due to IRL issues effectively penalising them for not getting to join in.
Either way, if you think that having a mixture of XP-based characters would make a better dynamic, then I'd be up for it. I'm doing so in one of my campaigns where a couple of level 1 fresh characters are joining a group of higher level characters, so we'll see how that goes.
Speaking of which, I'll be out of town and probably not able to post from Friday until either Monday evening or Tuesday day.
I also think even/universal XP is probably best for PbP. It's easy to be left out of something just by not posting for 8 hours, so no one should be penalized for something like that.
(And leveling seems to be going excruciatingly slow anyhow, so let's get it anyway we can. See DMG 84, "Adventuring Day XP".)
Sura of the Shaltari - Level 2 Human Barbarian - Lost Mine of Phandelver Tarhun Delmirev - Level 1 Dragonborn Paladin - Out of the Abyss Gymgier Morigak - Level 2 Dwarf Cleric - The Guild DM - Storm King's Thunder
You guys volunteered to take Elyza to Moonglow and then back to Camenose. When you get back to the village, you notice that the goblins have basically assumed the role of guards and law enforcers. They even have their own base in the village. Gym went to spend the night with Father Torelgen because he wanted to discuss the goblin situation.
There's also guys in dark masks going around and fighting the goblins in secret. They successfully burned down the goblin's guard post. And now the PCs are trying and failing to interrogate one of the dark mask guys. Also, an Assimar named Hunin joined the party. This Assimar is also from Camenose so Gym knows him.
Okay, sounds good. I can jump back in when thematically appropriate.

Well, everyone's in Camenose. So... Gym, you hear some commotion (the ones caused by the fire and the interrogation) near the goblin guard post. You head over there immediately to investigate (If you want).
It's thematically appropriate for you to just show up now.

I would say default would be to kill or maim. I will try to specify when I am only trying to knock out.
Anton - Level 2 Human Monk - storm kings thunder (on Hold)
Yeah, that's the point of a default. Everyone will specify when they want to something that isn't their default.
you are right that is the point of default.

Are Gym and Skriiod just laying off the RP?

Actually, Gym is away for the summer and Skiirod has a bad migraine. I would've moved on earlier but I was very busy today.
Safe travels to Wibbly, and Get Well Soon Stormdx!

Question: Does Valwarin heard the conmotion from his tree?
PbP Character: A few ;)
No. It's happening on the opposite end of the village.
In the meantime Elsara's just happily soaking the potential xp while sitting in a ornate wingback chair transcribing work :-p

Val enjoys the night off XD

Yeah, it looks like the elves get some R&R tonight ;-)

Gym's been benched until you got back.
