I’ve been thinking a bit about this campaign, and how it seems there may have been some attrition lately. The rate of posting is still on par with many other PbP forums, but definitely not at the pace that it once was. However, for me, it seems to be dragging in terms of player progression. We’ve been in this game for six months OOG, and we are still only level 2. I think your in-game time frame exceeded 30 days (in terms of time between the two visits to Camenose), which would yield far more XP according to the “Adventuring Day XP” (DMG 84). It almost feels like we’re playing at a Gritty Realism (DMG 267) pace.
So, before we talk more about how deadly the world should be, it’d be nice to level up a little more frequently. If you think it’s because we RP too much, then maybe we should RP less and murder-hobo more. If that’s not the case, then maybe RP should be yielding more rewards.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. The slower rate of posting I mean. I'm working on trying to make it as fast as it used to be.
The reason player progression is slow because we aren't using adventuring day. You gain XP based on either RP encounters (Like the one that's currently happening) and combat encounters. I do agree that XP progression is slow here. I don't want to just boost the amount of XP every encounter gives so I'll try to speed things up some other way. The RP yielding more rewards thing seems to be a step in the right direction. I'll try and come up with a solution.
Just drop the XP and use milestone advancement. You got a compromised group of players that both like RP and hack&slash. I do not think that anyone is going to stop RP because they have somehow “secured” their level progression. That would speed up things.
On the posting pace topic, I’ve pointed out my opinion before, more posts doesn’t necessarily means a better game, and we all agreed on a 1-2 post per 24 hours pace. Going on a “posting frenzy” could speed up things when there is a one-to-one PC-NPC interaction, but if we go back to resolve entire scenes between just two people because they happen to be online at the same time, the rest feel unattached to that part of the adventure in particular, or the whole campaign. I suggest moderation :)
Sorry for the lack of posts recently. I've been very unwell, and when I had a weekend to post, my desktop decided to pack it in. Hopefully I'll be back to posting regularly soon.
Yes. He said he got too busy to continue the campaign. I think we might have also lost Skiirod and Folki because they aren't responding to any of my PMs.

Healers? Where we're going we don't need healers...
Actually, healing's pretty useful. Let's just beat the bad guys before we need to use healing. Easier that way :-p
