Taking the dishes from the table once you’ve begun to finish your meals, the innkeeper gives the group a nod. "The Brewery's only about a mile or two north o' town," he explains in response to Izore and Vonbek. "Follow the dirt road from the northern exit outta town and you'll be there in no time!" With a plate in hand, the auburn-haired Gnome gestures towards one of the windows in the direction you’ll need to take when you set off on your journey. The nervous owner Glowkindle was able to make the trip on his own, so Wrener doubts this group of young adventurers will have any trouble at all. "And don't worry 'bout it, pal," he replies to Garith with a wave. "Pay me back if ya don't get rabies from those rats, alright?" the innkeeper chuckles.
Fiselius gives a nod of thanks to the barkeep, pockets his clockwork bird, and straps his barrel back on his back. He then grabs his staff, shuffles over towards the door, turns back and asks, "Anyone in particular have a desire to lead the way? Or shall we walk there side by side?" He tries to suppress a small bit of anticipation in his voice as he speaks.
“Side by side sound right!” Gathering up his pack and wolfing down the breakfast Gary looks around to make sure everyone had all their equipment and provisions gathered up so they don’t leave anything.
Vonbek grabs some of the leftover bread and stuffs into his pack, thinking they might have to bait some traps as they did when he was a boy. He grabs his stuff and follows the others out the door.
With that, the party of new adventurers depart from the Westshade Inn, bellies full and excitement in the air. As the morning sun climbs higher into the sky, setting the path before you alight with warm sunshine, you set off on the dirt road heading north of the town. As you travel a mile or two along the path, the wilderness grows denser and birdsong chatters in the greenery. Finally, after winding your way up a low hill, a large stone building looms into view. Beside the door hangs a brightly painted sign, reading: ‘The Wizard’s Tower Brewing Co. For the Freshest Pint in the Realm!’
"Well I suppose there's various measurements for 'freshness' one could use. For one, time, boasting that their pints have the least aging in the realm although that would be an odd boast to make. Or they could using it as a synonym of refreshing in which case a survey with a sufficient sample size..." Fiselius says and continues on with various methodologies for measuring freshness that come to mind. After a minute or so he shakes his head with a start, "I'm rambling aren't I? Apologies." He then gestures with his staff and replies to Emmaline, "Entering sounds like a great idea."
Once outside in the brightness of the day, Izore takes a moment to appraise their diverse assembly. What a colourful bunch they all are - a couple of dwarves, a gnome, a human and herself, the half-elf. She muses how this will be a great opportunity to learn more about their customs and way of working. She also considers their gear - the different armour and weapons suggest their group to be versatile in combat, which can prove useful if the rats turn out to be a bigger problem than what Wrener mentioned earlier. Nevertheless, she diligently checks her bow and leather armor on numerous occasions during their relatively brief journey.
Walking in nature soon relaxes her and brings a spring to her step. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, her belly is full and she is going on her first adventure. Embarking on her inaugural quest, she can't help but revel in the thrill of this momentous occasion, sensing a path unfolding towards the destiny she had sought.
And then they find themselves in front of the brewery. While Emmaline and Fiselius discuss what's written on the sign, Izore seizes the opportunity to survey the grand establishment before them
"Let's find this Glowkindle", she agrees with them.
Gary follows along admiring the woodlands and excited to explore. When the party hits the building he looks at the sign question. “Well besides the freshness I wonder if they brew here and deliver to the town.” “Welp only one way to find out” and Gary knocks on the doors.
As Gary knocks on the door, Vonbek does his best to look unimposing, while still keeping a firm grip, on the handle, of his battle axe. He scans their surroundings and the windows of the building, keeping a watch for anything out of the ordinary. He doesn’t expect any trouble, but he doesn’t like trouble sneaking up on him.
The walk in the fresh air has rejuvenated him, after his rest and breakfast, at the tavern, earlier that morning. He listens intently to try and hear the sounds of someone approaching the door.
Soon after Garith knocks on the door of the Wizard’s Tower Brewery, the sound of brisk footsteps upon creaky floorboards can be heard from within. Not long after, the wooden door swings open, and a small Gnome wearing green suspenders stands before them. “Oh! Hello!” he greets you all with a nervous chuckle. “You must be the adventurers here to help with our, uh, rat problem!” Letting out another uneasy giggle, the Gnome gulps at the sight of Vonbek with his battleaxe and takes a step back, leaving room for the adventurers to enter. “Can I interest you all in some ale for your, ah, troubles?” Glowkindle offers.
"A kind offer, good sir. I cannot speak for my compatriots, but I, for one, need a clear head before venturing into combat." Emmaline replies, bowing slightly, "Emmaline Gladstone, humble servant of Lathander, the Morning Lord. It would be an honor to assist you in this time of need. We have quite a hardy crew here. We feel certain we can dispatch your vermin quickly if you direct is to the problem."

Fiselius smiles at his fellow gnome, "While I'm not normally one for ale, I do think it would quite delightful to have a taste of the freshest pint in the realm." he says. "So what's the nature of your rat issue? And, if I may cut to business, how much are you offering for a solution to your rat problem?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gary nods gratefully “No thanks good sir, but the offer of drink is appreciated.” He smiles and makes his way in with the other looking around the interior for any clues to rats for anything out of the ordinary.
“Ah, right, of course!” Glowkindle responds cheerfully, giving the party of new adventurers another nervous chuckle as he takes a few more quick steps backwards, opening the door further for you all to enter. The little Gnome wasn’t particularly in the way, being so small, but he thought it would be polite. “Please, please, follow me!” he squeaks. Once you trail inside, you’re greeted with the sight of the Wizard’s Tower Brewery interior.
The stone building opens to a fire-warmed, high-ceilinged wooden distillery, the smell of ale strong in the air. The scent was wafting from the barrels of rich, bubbling liquid between which the employees dart — a handful of well-dressed Humans and Halflings. His little legs carrying him quickly, the brewery owner leads the way to an oak table beside a bar with hanging glassware and rows of bottles. “Please, ah, have a seat!” Glowkindle invites, scrambling to fill a glass of foaming pale ale for Fiselius and placing it in front of the Wizard hopefully.
“Right, so, the task I have for you!” Glowkindle begins, standing beside the bar in case any of you decide to change your minds and try a drink. “Well, we were attempting to expand our beer cellar, and the, uh, workmen we hired uncovered an ancient-looking wall. Perhaps the remnants of a ruin, you see? Well, they broke through the wall, and out came the rats!” The Gnome emphasizes this part of the story with a dramatic gesture of his arms, followed by an anxious squeak. “Well, they aren’t normal rats. They were attacked by huge rats the size of dogs! B-Big dogs, I mean!” He glances between you all, looking a bit worried that he might be frightening you away. “And, ah, we are willing to pay each of you twenty-five gold should you get rid of them.”
Seeing no looming danger Vonbek relaxes his grip on his battle axe, and tries his best to look friendly despite his gruff exterior. “Thank you for the offer, but water would serve me well. My taste for ale has not wavered, but I prefer my ale after a hard days work.”
“You must be the one named Glowkindle, my name is Vonbek Frostbeard. My friends called me Von, and I think my new friends should be able to as well.” “If you could tell us more about your problem, then we can discuss best how to help you.”
“Thank you for those details. Ancient ruins is not something I am familiar with, hopefully one of my friends is more knowledgeable. Can you tell us the number of rats we may be dealing with, or perhaps the general layout of the cellar?”
"Ancient ruins? I must admit history isn't one of my fortes, but I'll have to think on if they ring a bell. Possibly moreso once we see them.", says Fiselius in reply to Vonbek.

Noting that Glowkindle seems to be nervous about scaring them off, he wonders if perhaps they might be able to negotiate a better payment than 25gp. Of course the notice had mentioned a desire for affordable adventurers, so he'd have to consider what a reasonable counter-offer might be for any potential haggling. He takes a moment to think
[[OOC: Fiselius, having had a shop of his own, would have an idea of what reasonable amounts would be. Would he see 35gp as a reasonable initial offer haggled down to 30gp? Or would it be more on the lines of start at 30gp hoping to haggle down to ~28gp? I'm not the greatest with knowing what the in-world economy looks like.]]
