Kiselina’s stomach turned as he assessed the tea would make him sick if he had any. His concentration to keep the grapes down made him miss an opportunity to engage with their host, such as life, time marches on. “Oh my, look at the time, yes. The morning is waxing away and we don’t care to impede your important decisions, no. We ourselves have places to meet and people to see. We will indeed be fine law-abiding citizens” Spoken under his breath, “Though I think Daphyra is the only one considered a citizen here.”
”The bailiff will be bringing that 50 gold to the Stonehill Inn then will he? Do wish we had more time to discuss how the Redbrands fit into the security plan of Phandalin. Perhaps the next time will be better, yes? We shall be better than sure to uphold their examples to be honest.”
At this last part, before turning to depart, Kiselina will try to assess if Harbin is aware of how ‘law-abiding’ the Redbrands are or if he has simply chosen to ignore any reports of their ill actions. (Insight: 18)
“You would be doing us all a favor,” Mrs Alderleaf answers, her voice firm, “to do something – anything – about those soot-hearted robbers. It was not this town’s best moment when we elected Harbin town master, but those were easier days. We had no idea what we were in for over the last few months.”
The more details he hears of the Redbrands, the darker Marten's expression becomes. He says, "Yes, ma'am. We'll see what we can do."
Marten takes the rest of Mrs. Alderleaf's answers quietly and stands quietly in thought while Berry presents her the flower circlet. Finally, he says, "Thank ye, ma'am. We're much obliged! You've been very helpful, and we don' want t' take up more o' your time. Have a good day, Mrs. Alderleaf." As he turns to leave, he touches the brim of his hat and gives another short bob of his head.
He collects the remaining flowers and turns to Marten, ready to leave, "Quite some mess we got is into here. First, a Black Spider organising waylaying goblin tribes and taking people hostage, and now, someone named Glasstaff who oppresses townsfolk by extorting protection money for literally no protection at all. I didn't expect that we would wander in such a hornets' nest. Each time we turn our backs some new dilemma presents itself."
Marten says, "Aye. Not what I was expectin' when I took that job from Gundren to guard 'is caravan!"
Marten heads back up the lane from the Alderleaf Farm and toward the Townmaster's Hall with Berry, walking briskly. He's eager to rejoin the others and share what they learned. At first, Marten hoped that the Redbrands might just be an group of untrained and undisciplined guards, and maybe the situation with the woodcarver just got out of hand. But based on everything he's heard now, he's decided that they're nearly as bad as the goblins. Maybe worse, since men should know better!
Marten suddenly flashes Berry a smile and says, "O' course, could be good for us, eh? If the town is payin' a bunch o' thugs to do nothin', m'ybe they'd pay us to take care o' some o' th' hornets!"
vidruth waves off daphyras sympathy with his free hand "was years ago now, ive dealt with it" he grunts, then asseses kiselina with a keen eye, he didnt think the paladin had it in him to be sarcastic so someone, let alone use it to gauge a reaction. a look of respect crosses his face, replaced with more waryness. like kiselina he doesnt touch the tea.
"thanks fer the invitation milord, it was enlightening" are his last words as he follows the others out

This Mug immediately shared with me a transcendental tale of an Infinite Mug that anchors the Universe and keeps it from folding in on itself. I filed this report under "illogical nonsense" and asked why its sign is in Times New Roman font, when it is basic knowledge that Arial Black is a far superior font. I wondered: How did this mug even get past the assembly line with its theistic beliefs and poor font choices?
quote from Romantically Apocalyptic byVitaly S Alexius
"I think it be best if you leave these folks alone, and besides it takes the four of ya to handle the lady and old man?" Nosam stays where he is, posturing a more readied stance, hoping an attempt at an exit isn't needed or an engagement with them for that matter. The 4 on 1 may pose an issue if someone else doesn't show up. He isn't entirely sure where everyone is, but they can't be more than a block or two. Nosam gives a dwarven yell, "BERRY!! MARTEN!!"
Daphyra points in the direction of the shrine. "I'd better check in with Sister Garaele and see how Sildar is faring. Do you two want to head that way too, or have you something else in mind? That conversation with Harbin was... strange."
Berry: “For your help, I would like that you accept this little flower circlet as a gift,"
Mrs Alderleaf looks genuinely surprised. “What! Oh, thank you Mr Berry, this is lovely. And I have just the place for it! Wait here.” She disappears into her house, only to return a moment later with a small hammer and a nail. She climbs atop the gazebo bench (asking for Berry help with a smile), and taps the circlet into place at the top of the trellis. It seems perfectly placed, as though the gazebo had been incomplete without it. Crossing her arms in satisfaction, the halfling offers her farewells.
“I have a feeling those Redbrands are in for some trouble Mr. Fairview. Berry. Good day. Oh, and if you’re still here tomorrow, I’m opening a bottle of preserves. No one within a hundred miles makes them better…”
Marten and Berry take their leave. In a couple of minutes they arrive at the town hall. A youngish man can be seen at the base of the bell tower. He begins to pull ropes and the noontime bells start to ring.
This is the building in which the captive goblins were left last night by Berry.
Across the street, you see the Lionshield Coster. Weapons, armor, furnishings, etc, are for sale. The large, crossbow-bearing woman called Chrissie from last night sits on a chair just beside the entrance, chatting noisily with one of the crossbow-bearing men from last night.
On the town green, Sister Garaele can be seen with several children who are running and chasing each other, screeching merrily in a game of tag.
If a dwarf yells in the distance, their voice is covered by these closer sounds.
And here from the town hall, you see Kiselina, Vidruth, and Daphyra.
KISELINA, VIDRUTH & DAPHYRA
Kiselina: ”The bailiff will be bringing that 50 gold to the Stonehill Inn then will he?”
Westen stops what he was doing and his eyes flash balefully at Kiselina. “Fifty gold???”
Only as he pronounces the words does he recall his earlier hastiness.
“Oh. Yes. Fifty gold.” He chokes the words out, but then a light glints in his eye.
“Yeah sure. He’ll bring it. He’ll bring it as soon as we know the Triboar has been cleared. After all, ya wouldn’t expect me to take your word for it, would ya?”
Kiselina will try to assess if Harbin is aware of how ‘law-abiding’ the Redbrands are
Kiselina would need to ask direct questions to suss this out, which he has not done. However, with an 18 Insight roll, Kiselina is fairly sure of one thing. The town master’s words have been spoken without intent to deceive.
Kiselina, Daphyra and Vidruth leave the town hall.

NOSAM
The Redbrands, Elsa, and Umberto wait for a long moment for a response to Nosam’s call for help as the noon bell rings on the green. Children can be heard playing in the distance. No one answers and the red-cloaked men bare their ugly teeth in rancid smiles.
Two of them still hold Elsa and Umberto, but the other two exchange a look and, both, now holding daggers, take a few steps toward Nosam, flanking him but not yet engaging.
“You leave Mr Lightfound alone!,” Emma shouts. But the men merely smirk, taking another step closer to Nosam.
A new voice comes from the doorway.
“Call em off. And back off yourself.” It’s Toblen Stonehill, standing in the doorway with a loaded crossbow raised and taking careful aim at the oily-haired ringleader.
A second crossbow, held steadily by the innkeeper’s wife, can now be seen pointing out of the kitchen window.
Kiselina is of the same mindset as Daphyra, to check up on Sildar. There are perhaps one or two other leads to follow up on, but the Paladin feels an unusual holy urge to seek the noble warrior. As the group crosses the open area to the shrine, if Chrissie or others make eye-contact with the Paladin, he will humbly nod to them. He wishes them each a good day as they pass.
Marten and Berry take their leave. In a couple of minutes they arrive at the town hall. A youngish man can be seen at the base of the bell tower. He begins to pull ropes and the noontime bells start to ring.
This is the building in which the captive goblins were left last night by Berry....And here from the town hall, you see Kiselina, Vidruth, and Daphyra.
Marten waves at the others and says, "Tea go all right, Kis'lina?" He nods as he greets the others, "Vidruth. Mistress Daphyra."
As long as they don't have any urgent news from their tea with the townmaster, Marten is excited to share their news. He glances around to make sure that no one is too close to the group before he says, "We learned somethin' o' value that could help 'gainst them Redbrands. But m'ybe it's best to wait 'til we're on th' road back t' the caves 'efore we talk about that."
Marten has no need to for the Lionshield Coster's wares at this time. He doesn't want to visit Sildar: visiting with the sick or injured is mostly just talking, and he doesn't know Sildar well enough to feel comfortable in a long conversation. Marten says, "I reckon the wagon'll be ready soon. I'll go back t' th' Inn 'n' see whether Nosam's ready t' go."
vidruth nods to marten, speaking calmly in goblin "mans a (lowlife/coward/pathetic). but i guessed that already, doubt he will end up being a serious problem" then seamlessly transitioning back to common continues "went alright, and yeah, it could probably wait. reckon ill go with you too, 'm always worried ill upset sildar"

You cross to the Inn.
KISELINA & DAPHYRA find Sister Garaele on the green, overseeing the children.
Kiselina: “if Chrissie or others make eye-contact with the Paladin, he will humbly nod to them.”
They do indeed make eye contact, and then nod back, neither warily nor particularly cordially.
Daphyra: "Sister, you look like you are very busy with these young people! How was our friend Sildar doing when you left him?”
“He is doing very well, Daphyra. He needs more rest, but I think by tomorrow he will be much improved. He was awake when I left him, though he may now be asleep once again.”
Marten & Daphyra, thanks to your high passive perception scores, you hear what sounds like someone yelling in anger followed by the clanging of steel on steel. Roll a perception save DC12 to make out where exactly it is coming from.
(OOC: I'm not sure what that means. Marten, Berry, and Vidruth crossed to the Inn, but I'm not clear where the fight is happening. Does Marten's group need to spend 1 round just to find the fight and get line of sight? Or are we immediately in turn-based action, and we can try to move and take an action in the fight already this round?)

Berry trudges along with Marten and Vidruth. On his way to Barthen’s he has to pass the tavern and so he joined them for his section. Not expecting anything, he is deeply concentrated on finishing his second floral circlet, which arguably is much harder to make when one is walking, he finds.
(OOC: All hold except for Nosam. Nosam please post your round 1 action(s) when you can. Also, Merry Christmas, everyone, and happy belated Hanukkah too!)

(OOC: I will give you further information in a subsequent post following both of your perception rolls. Let us see what Daphyra rolls.)

Berry trudges along with Marten and Vidruth. On his way to Barthen’s he has to pass the tavern and so he joined them for his section. Not expecting anything, he is deeply concentrated on finishing his second floral circlet, which arguably is much harder to make when one is walking, he finds.
