Nosam starts to feel the rhythm of the battle rejuvenate him as Kiselina advances, spreadpalmed, while Daphyra casts spells, attacking the head Redbrand, while defending Berry.
The head Redbrand ("Donjon-man", R6) fails his WIS save (9-1=8) and takes 6HP necrotic damage. He grimaces and his eyes fasten hatefully upon Daphyra.
(In answer to Kiselina’s offer of peace, the head Redbrand rolls an INT save. A high roll will allow him to make a smart decision, a low roll means his emotions rule him. INT roll: 2+1=3. Bummer!)
The head Redbrand, earlier today, was at the receiving end of a brilliantly pointed criticism of not only his leadership, but of himself as a person. “Weak” was the word. And so when a harengon in a preacher’s dress points her finger and hurts him in his head, a little lever in his mind flips, and he simply goes mad with rage.
“RAAAAHHHHHRRRGGGGHHHH!!!,” is the most intelligent thing he can think of to say in response. His men find this suitable, and redouble their efforts to slay you.
Round 4
Redbrand 5, the older fighter with a history of nasal fractures, continues battering Nosam.
Redbrand 5: Shortsword vs. Nosam: 8 / 7 slashing damage
Redbrand 5: Shortsword vs. Nosam: 18 / 5 slashing damage
Redbrand 4, the lean, slithery fellow with slick black hair, likewise continues attacking Nosam.
Redbrand 4: Shortsword vs. Nosam: 9 / 4 slashing damage
Redbrand 4: Shortsword vs. Nosam: 8 / 4 slashing damage
You are now situated like so:
Berry, Marten, and Vidruth may now post in any order.
Berry grimaces after the swords lash out at him and grunts in reckless approval to the leader’s battle cry. Then, he receives him with a stab of his shortsword while he swipes the scimitar farther out at the one he couldn’t hit before.
Move: none Action: Shortsword @R6, hit with 10/7+5 for 8 piercing damage Bonus: Scimitar @R4, hit with 2/10+5 for 3 slashing damage Free: Reckless Attack
"pathetic" vidruth says darkly to the remaining redbrands, striding forwards, staff thudding on the ground as he reaches into his bag and retrieves a flask, weighing the contents muttering something about "need to get some damn shot" and "losing me touch"
he does some very rapid calculations even as he speaks, squinting at his targets, before tossing the flask a few inches in the air, where it suddenly accelerates towards one of the redbrands
move: to S13
action: cast catapult up column S, (targets r3, then if r3 passes the save targets r5) DC 13 dex save, or be struck. when a target is struck both the flask and the target take 9 bludgeoning damage.

This Mug immediately shared with me a transcendental tale of an Infinite Mug that anchors the Universe and keeps it from folding in on itself. I filed this report under "illogical nonsense" and asked why its sign is in Times New Roman font, when it is basic knowledge that Arial Black is a far superior font. I wondered: How did this mug even get past the assembly line with its theistic beliefs and poor font choices?

Marten: Round 4
Marten had hoped that these bullies would surrender or at least run away at the first sign of real resistance, but in response to Kiselina's demand, he just hears a loud roar and more sounds of fighting.
Marten draws a goblin arrow and pops out from his hiding spot. Based on everyone's position, he decides to attack one of the Redbrands engaged with Berry and Nosam (R6 or R4). With his friends engaged in a chaotic melee, he decides not to risk another "trick" shot. As soon as he releases the arrow, he runs back around the stables (counterclockwise) to get a better angle on the fight and to help prevent any of the Redbrands from escaping to the east.
Movement: 60' of movement (including dash): move to Q19 to attack and then dash east, around the stables, ending at W15 (or right around there, depending on the boundary of the stables at ground level). Action: Attack R6 (or R4 of Berry killed R6), Shortbow (80/320): 11 Damage: 11 Bonus Action: Cunning Action, Dash Free Action: Drawing an arrow.
Redbrand 6 tries to parry but merely knocks Berry’s blade to slide across his knuckles and down his forearm (for 8HP), forcing him to switch his blade to the other hand (RP). Redbrand 4, having been badly burned by Vidruth’s earlier fire bolt, succumbs to Berry’s second attack.
Vidruth’s spell sends his flask flying toward Lantern-jaw and Broken Nose, but the ruffians roll DEX saves of 14 and 19 respectively and both somehow manage to dodge the flying flask, which explodes against the men’s bathhouse wall.
Marten’s arrow strikes home, thunking heavily into the Donjon-built Redbrand’s chest. The old ruffian stops in place staring at the arrow in disbelief. His weapon drops. He falls slowly to his knees clutching the missile, then rolls forward into the mud, the arrow cracking under him. He moves no more.
Redbrand 3, Lantern-jaw, having made little headway with Nosam, and seeing all of his despicable friends except for Broke Nose (R5) laid low, disengages and flees north between the men’s and theirs’ bathhouses, and is now out of view of all players (probably around S2)
Redbrand 5 drops his sword and pleads with Kiselina. “ALL RIGHT! ALL RIGHT! I GIVE, I GIVE!! HAVE MERCY MILORD!!”
Nosam, Daphyra & Kiselina may now act in any order.
Daphyra looks towards the heavens and clasps her Bastet amulet. She closes her eyes and murmurs a prayer, invoking the Goddess's power. Tendrils of dim light emanate from her, forming a twilight dome around her.
Action: Channel Divinity - Twilight Sanctuary. All colleagues within 30ft gain 6 THP at the end of their round.
Furious with the group of Redbrands and grateful his friends showed up when they did. Nosam heads to R5 with hammer ready to pulverize his head. "I would recommend thinking through these answers before you spout off with some nonsense. What's the meaning of all this? What were you harassing Elsa and the others about?"
ooc: unsure if this should be intimidation or investigation (rolled both)
Intimidation: 5 (3+2); Investigation: 20
Nosam also asks the others about next steps and are we pursuing the runner?

"Hammer ready to pulverize his head" makes it Intimidation. Investigation is more like a scholar researching through books, or a detective examining a crime scene. I will give you advantage on this roll, however, making it a crit. The man blubbers and snarls in turn, but in time, spills his guts. Because of the rolled 20, the party may question him extensively and expect honest answers. That will take time, however. First: Does anyone pursue Lantern Jaw?
(Ooc: Had composed something else, but am switching to this action instead since Nosam so convincingly laid into nose-job.)
Kiselina dashes to the northeast out of the courtyard (between Hers and Theirs bathhouses) before heading north after lantern-jaw. He hopes to catch sight of him at least if not cut off his movement. Move to V3, 60’ of movement.

Berry ignores the weak coward hat threw away his weapons and jumps into the air to pursue the other. If he doesn't see him, he dashes and flies over the bathhouse trying to cut off his escape to the North.

For the damage I used only unarmed strike damage with 1+Strength+Rage, if it is a d4, then add 2, and an additional 2 if it does critical damage.) Free: Reckless Attack

(Sorry! Saw that after my post. Answer is yes... obviously.)
Kiselina and Berry are able to quickly corner Lantern Jaw, and he is rounded up along with Nose Job (I like @Kohlmetz' moniker).
Umberto, responding to Daphyra's Twilight Sanctuary, blinks to wakefulness and stands on rickety legs. Elsa comes to his aid.
Nose Job & Lantern Jaw reconfirm Elsa's earlier telling of events:
Elsa: "I was giving you food all right,” she turns to Nosam and the rest of you, “but just so you’d keep leaving the Stonehills and us alone! And Umberto saw me and didn’t know what was happening and came to my rescue, sweet old Umberto! All he did was ask you what your business was and you took that as an opportunity to torture him in front of me and eat the buttons from his own vest??"
"We... er... didn't mean any harm. It was all just er... a bit o roughhousing, that's all. No harm done, right?," they ask, noting that Umberto is all right.
They can also tell you the following:
They confirm the location of the Redbrands' hideout under Tresendar Manor, and the location of the entrance (Marten & Berry already know this information from Mrs. Alderleaf).
The leader of the Redbrands, whose name you have heard before, "Glasstaff," is a human wizard. He is so named because his magic staff is made of glass. No one knows if that is his real name or not. Glasstaff’s chambers are in the western end of the underground stronghold.
A mysterious figure called the Black Spider has hired the Redbrands to frighten off adventurers and intimidate the locals, for reasons unknown. The Black Spider has sent bugbears to reinforce the Redbrands and provide extra muscle.
The lower part of the complex is guarded by a hideous “eye monster."
The Redbrands have a handful of captives in a holding area “near the old crypts,” which are guarded by Skeletons.
vidruth grunts "led by a wizard" he complains "damnit, im terrible at dueling. and im unsure but an eye monster sounds like some sort of aberration, oor maybe a spider, hard to tell with these dimwits"

Kiselina returns to check on Umberto, then Elsa, and finally the Stonehills themselves before closing with the detained Redbrands.
“Are you okay? Did they injure you at all? Rest now, you’ve been through enough.” He reassures the gentle employees of the inn.
Stepping up to the remaining Redbrands with a sternness in his voice, his demeanor changes.“I grant you mercy, though I doubt you’ve shown much of it to the people of Phandalin. Most definitely not to the Stonehills and their employees. Speak now, cooperate willingly, and perhaps you will win an ounce of redemption.”
Perhaps it was Nosam’s threats coupled with the Dragonborn’s efforts (he lets just a drop of his acid breath seep to the ground from the corner of his mouth next to the detained) that gets results. Either way, the information is obtained.
“But what to do with it now? I had wanted to retrieve the goods from Cragmaw and look into the castle. However, this seems the immediate need. I can’t fathom a delay in dealing with the Redbrands and this ‘Glassstaff’. To do so would invite them to either reinforce their position or worse, jeopardize the citizenry of Phandalin. But what say you all on this matter?”
Kiselina returns Marten’s rapier…in better condition than his lantern was.
Lantern Jaw's eyes shift back-and-forth when Kiselina speaks of redemption, and finally, a few words seem to bulge forth from his wide mouth like lava gurgling from a cleft.
"There's more than that back entrance. We also get in through the old Manor on the hill. There's a stairway inside, down to a cellar with a cistern. Then a secret door in the corner of that room."
He looks around at the lot of you, sadly. "Now what will you do with us?"
Marten comes around the east side of the stables to see that the fight is basically over. As Kiselina and Berry chase down the one who fled, and Nosam menaces the one who surrendered, Marten enters the courtyard again and feels the refreshing benefit of Daphyra's Twilight Sanctuary.
Marten first asks Elsa shyly, "Y'all right, Miss Elsa?" He keeps his distance but glances at her neck to be sure that the Redbrand didn't cut her.
Then, while the others question the surviving Redbrands, he helps gather and arrange the bodies of the dead Redbrands. He suggests putting them somewhere out-of-sight for now (maybe around S13 and S14). He gathers their weapons and their red cloaks and keeps those separate. If Toblen Stonehill is still around, he asks to use an old tarp or sheet or maybe just some straw to cover up the bodies in the courtyard. Marten doesn't want word to spread of the fight at the Stonehill Inn before the party decides what to do next.
They can also tell you the following:
Marten listens to interest to everything that they learn from the Redbrands.
His only question after hearing about the Black Spider and the bugbears is: "How many other Redbrands are there, d'you know? And how many bugbears did this Black Spider send?"
He looks around at the lot of you, sadly. "Now what will you do with us?"
Marten asks, "Berry, you still got those manacles? We could lock 'em up for a bit while we decide what to do next. Don't want 'em runnin' off to Glasstaff t' raise the alarm."
Marten suggests putting the men in manacles and leaving them at the Stonehill Inn for a while. With the dead bodies somewhat hidden, the party may have a few hours before anyone else notices that some of the Redbrands have gone missing.
He suggests acting soon, sneaking into Tresendar Manor, and freeing the Redbrands' other prisoners. And if the party can take the Redbrands by surprise, maybe they can bring down the group from inside their stronghold?
But if they wait too long, the other Redbrands will be looking for the party or, worse, may come to the Stonehill Inn to take Toblen and the others prisoner.

Marten listens to interest to everything that they learn from the Redbrands.
His only question after hearing about the Black Spider and the bugbears is: "How many other Redbrands are there, d'you know? And how many bugbears did this Black Spider send?"
