"And would it be nice to have more?" Says the second kobold, who is now back to talk to Anasfrya. "I intend to help you. Ignore the noble, he lets his 'importance' get to his head. But friends here speak truth. The world revolves around heroes, and I know more than you think about heroism. You are as beautiful as you are wise, but wisdom is something you can always grow in. A single candle such as I can light a thousand more. Should you fail, you may discover the sacredness in tears. But pass or fail, you will need my help."
Anasfyra coyly hid a soft laugh behind her hand as she turned her head to face the returning kobold. “How uncouth, little one. To say I am as beautiful as I am wise, but that my wisdom may yet grow? Such a thing implies that I am not already at the peak of beauty itself, nor that I may reach it. Or…perhaps that was your attempt at flattery.”
She took another bite of the fruit, a demure smile peeking out from behind it. “You did not grow up amongst the Courts, I dare accuse, so I will allow you the benefit of my doubt. Now. You speak of help, truth, and heroism. But I wonder, help in what form and to what end? Whose truth? And heroism under the banner of which ideal?”
"Do you know anyone from the north? You must be on the lookout for your allies."
Cunning enters just to catch the last of the conversation. As the kobolds pass him he fixes a glare on them "The North you say? Where exactly in the North would that be I wonder?"

Cunning nods to Ana & Titus "Kobolds, eh? Can't trust them. Of course it could be worse, it could be goblins. At least kobolds know how to bathe." He stops to fill his plate. "Also before we leave I must thank our host for his generosity, I now have some very fine hand axes. Sadly my original ones are only useful now as mementos".
Thrudor walks in and takes a seat ready to leave at a moment's notice. He plops all of his things down on the ground behind him and takes a seat "Good Morn, Good Morn. Quite a restful sleep I had....Thank you. How has everyone's morning been? This is the first time in a long, long time, I have slept so late!"
Jakus comes out of his room, looking pretty tired. “Didn’t sleep well last night,” he mumbles as he fixes his hair, trying to make himself presentable. Jakus sits with the group, but away from the kobolds.
"I apologize. I did not mean to insult. I was saying you are both beautiful and wise, but you may need help navigating the north. We live there, and also know of the beasts within. We can help with your wisdom with new information." He turns to Cunning. "So you have reason to not trust us. I apologize in the noble's behalf, he lets his 'royal blood' get to his head. But I'll ask you this. You said kobolds cannot be trusted? The noble only said that this task would be too difficult, although he did insult you as well. But if that deserves a spell that almost killed his small body, what do you deserve for insulting my entire race?" The kobold takes another sip of tea. "How often do you think we are insulted? Your friend keeps calling us 'little one', which is an insult to our power. You must be stared at often, Tieflings are some of the most hated races here. But I respect their efforts. We are despise as well, which you made very clear." He takes a long sip of tea. "How about you rethink us."
Titus looked around at the kobolds as they continued engaging in their machinations, but then returned to examining the dart--probably a dagger, to them--left next to his plate. Carefully picking it up, he turned it over, scrutinizing it from every angle. Poisoned? Well, he wasn't fool enough to test it at the moment, but if true, it would doubtless come in handy. He still wasn't entirely comfortable with it, but deciding it was best to avoid an accident from leaving such an item lying around, the fighter quickly secured it in one of the sheaths attached to his belt.
He mulled over the situation as he resumed watching the scene play out. He'd never considered himself a loner... he had been a marine, after all. But he also was never much for unnecessary entanglements. And even though he might have avoided whatever web the kobolds (malicious or not) seemed to be spinning in their alleged search for allies, such a useful tool, even freely gifted, was clearly just another thread seeking to draw and bind their party.
"Exercise caution, indeed," he thought, taking Ana's words to heart as he quietly listened, hoping to get a better understanding of the situation. Then, realizing everyone seemed to be occupied with the goblinoids, he took a moment to discreetly wave over a server and whisper something to him.
Titus doesn't show it off, but he likes to relax by cooking, and enjoys developing his culinary skills. He's asking the server if they had any older cooking utensils he could take with them, along with a few samples of some of their excellent spices. Really, it's just an excuse for him to have cook's utensils placed into his room along with the weapons and armor before we all leave.
Once the server nodded and left, the former marine resumed his observations.
Cunning regards the kobold and smiles "Well, I didn't expect to start the day with a discussion on racial typecasting, but I am not so blinkered that my mind cannot be changed. Shall we begin again?" he extends his hand "I am Cunning Green-moss, may I enquire as to your name?"

Thurdor sits and listens to everyone as he eats his breakfast. He is enjoying his breakfast wondering why they others leave no time for food and enjoyment. Business...right to business...such is life in towns and cities he supposes. Time moves much faster here than in the northern woods and small villages.
"Bane Dreamfire. And you have met my brother, Onyx, as well." He shakes your hand... but instead clutches 2 of your fingers because of his small hands. "Here is what I have to offer. We are skilled in battle, but can only do so much with our small size. There is an Ogre in the forest you're headed to. It should not be too difficult, but we are so small that are weapons can't get through its thick skin. Kill him, and we'll reward you. Do you prefer gold or equipment?"
Titus,
The cook has some cook's utensils. He hands you some spices as requested, nutmeg, cinnamon, ground pepper, and a few you've never heard of.
"Kill him, and we'll reward you. Do you prefer gold or equipment?"
That certainly caught the fighter's ear. While not looking in their direction, and still maintaining an attitude of neutral detachment, he nevertheless focused intensely on the nearby exchange.
The other kobold walks back. "This is what I like to see. We have lots of unique items, enchanted armor, etc. Most of our armor is small though. We have poisoned weapons as well."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“And what are you getting out of all of this?” Jakus pipes up. He takes a bite out of an apple. “You seem desperate to kill this Ogre. So either it has something you want, or it is doing something you don’t wish it to do. Which is it?”
"This Ogre is simply a threat to the nearby city, Cynthesia. We'd tried to attack it once but could not deal much damage due to our size. It started out west of Cynthesia in the jungle, which holds a temple we value. We hope to simply prevent further damage."
The Eladrin waved off the kobold’s apology with a good natured chuckle, opting to listen as he turned his attention to Cunning. When the kobold referred to her companion as a tiefling, she made a quiet noise of surprise, and turned to Thrudor. “The little one just called our moss friend a tiefling. Does this mean he is not, in fact, green moss?” She blinked once, her surprise shifting to a joyful smile in the span of said blink. “Ah, and good morning to you, as well, friend. I rose with the dawn. Though, elvenkind generally does not sleep, so sleeping in late wouldn’t be expected anyways.”
Cunning shakes his head slightly, too bemused to be offended "Yes, I am a tiefling. Green-moss is the name of the orc tribe which took me in as an infant and raised me to be who I am today."
He starts to turn back to the kobold, but stops "And before anybody makes any comments about orcs; no, they are not all ignorant animalistic savages. Whilst it may be true for some of the tribes there are those like my own who view violence as a last resort, and even some who have renounced violence completely" he turns to the kobold and bows slightly "in the same way that not all kobolds are duplicitous scoundrels".
"I have an idea," stated Titus, intent on cleaving through the shroud of intrigue. "I suspect most of the party might be concerned about taking on a straight-up assassination job, especially without any evidence of wrongdoing. So here's a counter-offer: if we don't even encounter the ogre, we don't even worry about it. We already have the king's task, and if the ice is threatening even your region, no point in slowing down that job to look for him.
"If we do run into him, and he's nothing but innocent and helpful and charming, we ignore your deal entirely. But if he's hostile towards us, we take him out, and then we can collect our reward later--half in gold, half in equipment. All provided you state the amount and exact equipment upfront, to avoid... misunderstandings."
The fighter looked around at his companions. "What does everyone think, then? Does that sound reasonable?"
