Amaruve, Jean, and Perspicacious pass the next hour chatting amiably with Wanton and a handful of other Tonies. The food is excellent and plentiful, and there is no shortage of conversation. As the sky begins to darken, the main doors are thrown wide and all of you (except for Lil' Big) are led to the open air pavilion just outside. It looks as though the entirety of the rest of the town is there. They're dressed in their festival finest and when you arrive a great cheer rips through the crowd. Enormous clouds of multi-colored steam erupt like fireworks all around the space, and a rotating dais slowly rises and spins with a great clanking of pistons and gears from the center of the pavilion.
Wanton, his nephew, and a few other Tonies form a sort of ring around Amaruve, Jean, and Perspicacious, while Carmella leads Fiorello through the crowd to the main table on the dais. There's a brief ceremony, a great deal of applause, and a short while later all of you (again, save for Tony) find yourselves alone with your drinks on the dais as the rest of the town continues to celebrate in the pavilion below.
A little halfling boy arrives some time later with a card in his hands. He passes it nervously to Perspicacious then darts away back into the crowd. It reads:
The game starts in fifteen minutes - Taesn's barn. -Wanton
"Well, then. That was pleasant," says perspicacious as she finishes her current drink. Brandishing the card at the others, she invites them to join her as she makes her way to Taesn's Barn. As she gets up, and looks around at the others, she asks, "Say, has anyone seen Lil' Big? He got whisked away after that grand entrance, and I don't think I've seen him since."
The crazy gleam in Big Tony's eyes grows brighter and brighter as you speak, then suddenly he disappears. He reappears a half second later behind you. He used his shadow step! The tip of his long, thin stiletto lightly jabs into the side of your neck as his enormous paw twists your arm behind your back, restraining you.
His voice drips with venom as he whispers in your ear, "Always, I try to teach you the quiet way. Always you jabber jabber jabber, ever since you are little boy. You inherit the gift that your brother did not, and what do you do with it? You use it for flash then you throw it away." The stiletto digs a little more sharply into your neck. "I am thinking that I simply make more children. Your mother, she is old. Maybe she has heart attack and I must start new family, yes?" His voice takes on a musing tone. "I have duty to pass the moxie to next generation, as was this little one's duty before his magical faerie castle. Yes, I think that is good. Shame about the rug, though... The blood, it will never come out of the silk..."
(You have a heartbeat to make a decision here, Tony!)
Amaruve shrugs. Tony is probably being shower with gifts and praise. Nothing to worry about among his family. He does pause to look back longingly at the buffet table. Maybe Tony will bring another turkey along to the game... There's no time to go searching for him.
Time seems to slow down around LBT. His breaths seem to span minutes, and his mind races. Where he would normally rely on his moxie, now, he has to rely on his wit. The environment seems to darken into that same endless void. Only Lil’ Big, Big, and the furniture remain.
Big Tony, formidable opponent, difference in experience, extreme. Use it against him, he’s been through a lot, shows it. Land a blow to the hip, never did recover fully after that brawl in the lower slums, did it Pops? Opponent reels, press the advantage, disarm the knife, twist the wrist down. Big Tony has the size advantage, leverages for slam, elbow to the nose, the great equalizer. Big Tony doesn’t just give up, he’ll charge, use the rug. Flaunt it. Toro, toro, and, into the desk. Use his recovery time to slip out the door. Give old snake-eyes a glare back.
Lil’ Big snaps back to reality, it was a weird moment of clarity, but a good plan nonetheless. Now, he just has to execute it: 17
Tony wham-bam-pows the old man, who winds up in a crumpled heap in front of his desk. Tony, you attempt to blast out the door, but it's sealed with some ki-empowered moxie-charged symbol. Of course. That never used to stop you, but as you are now...
Tony turns back to the old man and sees shadows begin to gather around him. The candles snuff out, and the last thing Tony sees before the room is thrown into complete darkness is Big T's considerable mass lumbering to his feet. The lounge is perfectly still and silent for a moment... Then there is the sound of a short scuffle followed by a heavy thud. The darkness leeches out of the room, and Tony sees Vermalk, of all people, standing over the unmoving form of Big Tony.
She turns to you, her face as emotionless as ever; Tony spies a slim hollow needle with a drop of blood at its tip held lightly in her left hand. After a moment, she says, "I serve the Tony family, little one. For good or ill, the survival of the Tonies helps to ensure the survival of all peoples on this island."
She raises her right hand, which flares briefly with white light as the door unlatches. "Go find your mother and your uncle. They should be at the home of the eladrin flight master." She looks at you a moment longer, weighing you in her slitted eyes. "He is not dead- not yet. The ongoing leadership of this family will be decided when he wakes, but you must be gone before he does. Go."
Tony opens the door, “Guess this goodbye, Pops. I’ll always be loyal to this family, it’s where my heart is. Love ya... and, Vermalk, thanks...” Tony will then walk out and look around for his group.

Tony opens the door, “Guess this goodbye, Pops. I’ll always be loyal to this family, it’s where my heart is. Love ya... and, Vermalk, thanks...” Tony will then walk out and look around for his group.
Vermalk doesn't respond to Tony in any way. She simply conjures a snake-like band of twisted rope that winds around Big T's ankles and wrists as the door closes.
Tony makes his way to Taesn's barn, which is currently host to a few hundred floating, flaming oil salamanders. These are, of course, the same fire spirits that you all encountered in the Fesitval of Steam a few days ago. The steam skippers are lumbering about in the field, performing some unknown tasks.
As Tony climbs a ladder to the upper loft, he is met by a chorus of happy greetings. Among the sawdust and positioned under the amber lights of a pair of Salamanders are his family and friends. Fiorello is there, huddled with Carmella (Tony's mother) discussing something of apparently great importance. Cordelia is there, too- sitting cross-legged off to the side with a pair of sleeping cats in her lap. Seated around the table are Amaruve, Jean, and Perspicacious. Uncle Wanton is there, as are several of the card game regulars: Taesn is there, of course, as is Tuppin, the halfling elemental wizard is there (apparently cleared of all charges for the giant smoke beast that inexplicably appeared in front of Amaruve at the Steam Festival). There's also a handful of some of the more well to-do members of Nibiru, all of whom would undoubtedly find their business interests shaken in the morning following the events that just transpired in Big T's lounge.
Wanton smiles and pulls out the chair next to him. "Knew you'd show up eventually, kid. Let's play a few hands, shall we?"
(Okay! The name of the game is Chicanery! Thanks, BD for creating and sharing this with us! Penguini is still out, so this is how we'll play this: You all are competing for an unnamed magical item from Wanton's hoard. Being the clever adventurers that you are, you spend the evening knocking out the competition until just Tony, Perspicacious, Amaruve, and Jean are competing. Below are the rules of the game:
Both players roll a d6. This is the 'Mark'. Each player has two six-sided dice and one four-sided die. The objective is to beat your opponent's total. If you beat your opponent's total and don't exceed 10, or total less than 2, you win. If you exceed 10, you are 'Caught'. After the initial roll, each player may roll a d4 and either subtract the value from their total or increase their total. This is a 'Trip' or 'Pull'. Anyone may choose to 'Stand', neither tripping or pulling. Each player then chooses to either roll their second d6 for their total, this is playing 'Straight' or pay the ante again in order to discard the first d6 rolling 2d6 (plus any trip or pull), this is using an 'Accomplice'. Both players roll for their total. The higher total wins unless it is greater than ten. If the total is a tie or if both players are either 'caught' or 'slow' the game is a push.
Tony will play Perspicacious on dicord. Amaruve will play Jean here on DDB.
Let me (or BDaddly) know if you have any questions!)
Tony, oddly serious despite the party atmosphere, sits down, “Yeah... sure. Whadda we playin’?” He’ll take his seat across from Perspicacious, he’ll still smirk and give an eyebrow bob to her, but not much else.

He follows the lead of the other players near by, sliding a gold coin onto the table, and he rolls the cube (Mark 1d6: 1), then gestures to Jean.
He tries to look confident, uncertain if he's off to a good start (Deception: 1)

If you'll Pardon me for a few moments, it's been a while since I relaxed over a game of chance. And if would seem Wanton there coulis stand to part wit a piece of gold or two." As he approves Wanton, Fiorello reaches into a small sack of coin and places one gold coin on the talks in front of the goblin. "Shall I part you from your wealth this evening?" he asks with a wink. Then he grabs a cup of dice and rolls his first. 1d6: 1

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Amaruve fish's out a second gold coin and rolls it onto the table with along with the funny triangular pyramid die (d4), mimicking sweeping gesture of one of the neighboring goblins. Apparently that means you're trying to trip up your opponent.

If your character needs something from a shop, we can retcon that they purchased anything at all earlier today before the dinner. Just deduct the gold from your total)
Fiorello stands and leans in toward Wanton with a serious look and says, "You may have beaten me here, but next time you'll not be so lucky." Fiorello pauses for just a moment and then bursts into laughter adding, "I jest of course," as he bows with his hand opened toward Wanton. "Well done good sir, your skills with the dice have undone my game. I'm afraid I was no match for you. Thank you for the diversion." He raises his glass to toast the remaining players, "May good fortune fall upon you all. This night and all others!"
