Smoke plumes from Odrith's nostrils; low mumbles follow, "Looks like I don't have time to finish eating.
With effort, Odrith relaxes the consternation on his face and speaks to his companions. "I don't believe the city watch will be able to move fast enough to solve this. We should head to the Bent Nail and try and speak with the fellow that fled the scene. I also shouldn't be the first to speak. We all know I don't present the kindest front in a conversation." His head swivels on his shoulders as he looks around. "Anyone know where it is?"
Splitting up could help them nab whoever was responsible without too much being hidden. And Chalk wanted to be in the spot where she might best be able to find out some secrets. But at the same time, intercepting the likely assassin would make it easier to enter the Temple. The matter stumbles around her head for a moment before "We should split up," Chalk intones and chatters, "Use your time wisely." She gestures to Whit, "Whit, follow in," before chiming as church bells.
As they travel along she relates her plan, "They'll try and cover their tracks." "This is a 'diplomatic' situation. Let me talk to your manager." "Lodge the complaint." She trails off. Ok so it wasn't exactly the best plan. The ending needed some work. She scribbles, 'sneak?' on her board with a nice drawing of a window.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kaivius grabs Odrith's arm and stomps towards the bar. Of course no one consults her before splitting up. Never mind the fact she'd been so hung up on what the old man was saying that she hadn't noticed Chalk and Whit leave. And now she was left to coax the truth out of some ruffian and all she had as backup was Odrith... The big lug was more likely to scare anyone off than convince them they meant no harm.
Stopping outside the door of the Bent Nail, Kaivius whips on Odrith and jabs a finger at him.
"Now look, you don't exactly have a friendly face, but please try not to loom over the man when we find him. Sometimes it's hard to tell if you're concentrating on someone benignly or because you want to eat them."
Without waiting for a reply, Kaivius pushes open the door and goes inside the bar. She scans the room looking for any sign that the charred man had been here recently.
Finally realizing Chalk and Whit slipped away, Odrith raises a hand and opens mouth to form a protest but is brutishly dragged along Kaivius's warpath. No protest of being dragged along was forth coming, the idea of protesting couldn't even be pondered. All mental faculties were tied up in trying to not get stepped on while being dragged at a canters pace.
Finally at rest Odrith opened his mouth before fully know what to say, but knew he had to say something, a furry finger stopped the words in his throat.
*Odrith gets a talking to*
Standing there in a dumbfounded silence, Odrith watched Kaivius's furry horse rump disappear into the tavern.
"Blazes" Odrith mutters before following in shortly after.
