(@Ori: Is mending enough to heal a construct fully? Seems a bit overpowered. When healing it before, you did restore actual HP to it, so lets keep doing that.)
Yessaris then goes to work on Attorney. It takes some time but the construct eventually restores fully (let's say after the long rest).
Following the yuan-ti's recommendation, Ingus then whistles. A large bright green monitor lizard uncoils from below his long leather overcoat. It stares at the passed-out Graxx for a few seconds before it snaps it's jaw at the tabaxi's neck. The rogue bleeds out within seconds, and his body fades away.
Fast-forwarding a bit (we can backtrack if needed): Tupoc tries to repeat the same sleepless trick, taking advantage of some of the cleric's dried blood on his fists. Mumed half-expects it to happen this time around.
-> Mumed's WIS saving throw vs. Dream {DC 18} (his advantage cancels out the disadvantage): 25
The human healer manges to have a restful night after all.
(OOC: Anything else anyone would like to do before the rest?)
With pre-rest preparations completed, the two groups go their separate ways. Many hours pass, and the combatants all regain their strength (go ahead and complete a long rest). Upon opening your eyes, a new companion can be found in your midst... a dragonborn. Given the circumstances of his death, you can all safely assume this is the new incarnation of your old tabaxi friend.
(@Grx: Please introduce your new character.)
A few more hours pass before a single opponent shows up: Sparklegem. Uncharacteristically quiet, the gnome drags a large sack on the floor behind him. He drops it in front of the group and simply says: "We've sparred enough. Let's make sure the next time is the last time."
-> This is a Bag of Holding. Inside, you each find a magical item of your choice (any rarity except legendary). You also find six spell components of your choice (any gold value per component, but just one casting worth for each of the six). Magical items must be distributed one per PC. Components can be distributed as you see fit.
-> Go ahead and level up to 19th level!
(@Palfatreos & @Grx: Feel free to each roll an insight check against an enemy of your choice. Once the fight starts, this offer expires. and we are back to having to use reactions to study enemies.)
(@All: Please go ahead and post your pre-combat preparations. Additionally, roll your own initiative. We'll follow the customized initiative rule for this combat once more.)
The group sees a golden dragon born wearing fine black clothing. He carries a dagger at his side but does not look like it has ever been used. He keeps his hands pressed together but has the similar smirk of Graxx that was known before.
"Hello friends. I will be more useful in my new form than I was before. It can't get much worse!"
Nox reach in the bag with her slimy hand and take out a odd looking staff
While she donne attuning to it she prep some magic
Find familiar (Ritual) owl on the edge of the map either side. Mage armor (Lvl1) Mirror Image (Lvl2) Phantom Steed (Ritual) x5 everyone get one 10 feet infront them except Selhrac. Riding Horse (1hp and 100 feet speed instead) if sombody don't want the horse set the remaining 10 feet away from Nox. Greater invisibility (Lvl4) concentration Contingency (Lvl6) trigger condition Dispel magic (Lvl3) on myself if a spell put a negative condition on me.
after crossing all the thing on here paper checklist she looks at the rest "Third time the charm?"
Generally quiet, Nox takes the opportunity provided by the gnome's visit to examine him a little closer:
Limited Metagaming License:
Name: Eldon "Sparklegem" Scheppen; Background: Sage; Feats: Lightly Armored, War Caster, Resilient (Charisma), Squat Nimblebess; Successful insight checks against Sparklegem: 2 (more info available with further successes; anyone may try as a reaction).
The new dragonborn companion (do we know his name yet?) notices what Nox is doing and attempts to gather some information himself:
Limited Metagaming License:
Name: Eldon "Sparklegem" Scheppen; STR: 12(+1); DEX: 14(+2), CON: 19;(+4) INT: 20(+5); WIS: 14(+2); CHA: 13(+1); Skill proficiencies: Acrobatics, Arcana, History, Insight, Medicine; Languages: Common, Elvish, Gnomish, Primordial; Successful insight checks against Sparklegem: 3/3 (completed!) Unlocked -> arcana check against Sparklegem: 0/1 (anyone may try as a reaction).
After that, both Nox and Selrahc begin preparing for the fight.
(OOC: This is a reminder that insight checks against Mumed, Xavier, Ingus, and Milo are still available as reactions during combat. The DC has now been lowered to 17. As for Baern and Sparklegem, you can instead roll an arcana check, also as a reaction with the same DC.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Tupoc approaches the bag next and selects a softly humming cube and a small golden statue that he immediately turns and gives to Abe. He then attunes to the cube and makes some preparatory spell castings and attacks:
@All: Abe & Yessaris have been updated to level 19. Including with the necessary item fixings and so forth.
Abe is, for the most part, lost in his own little world since the days previous defeat. Watching Mumed more closely in the fight taught him much, and if not for Tupoc, at least some of his prepartions would've personally involved mirror the tower shield wielding man. Setting such concerns aside, he draws a familiar set of beads and softly smirks to himself.
"A word from benign divine, if nothing else." He says solemnly, and after accepting Tupoc's gift, steps aside to fully immerse himself in final preparations.
Request: To assist in the coming conflict with Lysanderoth's team to the absolute best of their ability, ensuring Abe and his fellows victory.
Prep Spells:
(4tht level)Death Ward on self. (4th level)Aid on self, Nox(before invisiblity), and Yessaris. (8th level)Holy Aura on all allies. Using the Necklace of Prayer Beads, casting Planar Ally, sacrificing one of the three remaining spell components in equivalent gp value to satisfy conditions of assistance in one battle(the current upcoming one).
Yessaris is nothing if not sedate about events. The arrival of a newly reborn Graxx earns a eye twitch as if irked by something is the closest he comes to being anything more. He draws from the bag an Ivory staff that after a few studious once over at least seems to warrant an appreciative nod out of the Yuan-Ti to gnome. From there he finds his own corner to make final preparations using Nox's ooze horse to cover up at least part of the projects.
By its end, he presents Abe with a cloak and platinum ring, hands out a few different strange concoctions, and goes through the tenuous process of booting a few other pieces of tech throughout both himself and attorney, for what may yet be the final chance....
Yessaris' Prep & More: Bag Draw - Guardian Staff, attuning promptly. Also, if allowed, would like to use one of the "spell components" for Warding Bond, even if it means the rings will still break after a single use.
NOTE: All allies and foes, including pets and summons, are benefiting from Holy Aura (counter: 9). Everyone begins the fight already mounted. Please keep track of your summons (Owl, Riding Horse, Firemane Angel). Most enemy preparations are tracked above this time around.
Nox ride to BT18 and cause Synaptic Static at BV-26, BW27 INT save DC19 on Baern,Mumed, Xavier and their mare. On fail 43 psychic damage and -1d6 on attack, ability, concentration check for 1 minute, at the end of there turn they can make INT save to end the effect. On succes half the damage. She then ride to CE18 in a zig-zag pattern (for the horse)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(@Palfatreos: I'm putting the owl at {CE24} instead because in its perceptive, there is a wall there. An investigation check is needed if it wants to try going beyond the wall. Also, your horse will need to dash in order to get Nox to both of the spots you want within the same turn, so N-Horse will not be dodging. Finally, thanks for the map, it really helps out. That said, Nothing in your post seems to relate to the blue line you drew, and the red line also seems to originate from an unrelated spot...)
While her owl flies near the wall, Nox and her horse rush to the center of the battleground to initiate combat. She casts Synaptic Static on a few of her foes:
INT saving throws {DC 19}:
Mumed: 18
Xavier: 14
Baern: 22
Xavier and Baern feel an psionic dagger penetrate their brains (each taking 43 psychic damage). Mumed manages to protect himself from it, at least partially (taking 21 psychic damage).
-> Mumed's concentration check {DC 10}: 14 -> Edit: this save was actually a 24.
Her spell placed, Nox orders N-Horse to dash toward the southern edge of the room.
Atop his mare, Sparklegem advances to {BW23} and eyes Abe. Raising his middlefinger in a lewd gesture (somatic component), the gnome tries to trap the aasimar in a Mental Prison.
-> Sparklegem's WIS saving throw vs. Sanctuary {DC 18}: 22
Before Sparklegem can finish his casting, Nox interrupts it with a Counterspell (reference).
EDITED OUT PORTION IN THE SPOILER BOX:
-> Abe's INT saving throw vs. Mental Prison {DC 19}: 17
The area immediately around Abe is surrounded by hideous maws filled with dripping teeth, though the aasimar cleric is the only one who can see them. They laugh and menace at the same time, freezing Abe in his spot (Abe is now restrained). Furthermore, Abe cannot focus on anything else, being unable to see or hear anything beyond the mouths surrounding him. The fear is so intense, that it harms Abe's sanity. Yessaris feels some of it as well, through his Warding Bond (Abe and Yessaris each take 31/2 = 15psychic damage).
-> Abe's concentration check {DC 10}: 15
-> Yessaris' concentration check {DC 10}: 25
Sparklegem then retreats to {CD23} with the help of his mount's dash.
Despite whatever gnawing pain the initial interactions bombard the mind, Yessaris grits his teeth behind closed lips and narrows his focus on Baern again; scrutinizing the half-naked dwarf's gear more closely now that most other 'secrets' were known to him.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
