Erric is on board with walking forward, holding the torch in one hand and a loaded sling in the other. Is the door at the end of the hall closed or open?
"Do we want to try the same tactic as we did with the zombies, the second time around? Meaning, we all position ourselves, and then someone opens the door, and we ready attacks, and close it if things look dangerous? Doubt we'll be dealing with mindless corpses again but it might help protect us. We're really not looking great..."
Jambiya nods decisively. "Erric is right, it was good plan that kept us alive. We should at least start that way. Then, when we open it and it's just a harmless empty room, we can laugh at ourselves." She steps back and Readies a crackling eldritch blast.

Erric looks at the layout of the second floor and wonders if this tracks at all where he and Maldorn found the casket in the real world. He thinks perhaps not, but he's trying to position that room and this in his head. He readies a rock in his sling and a torch in his other hand, assuming Anafrey is fine with being the door opener again.
The door opens into the room. The door is on the right side at the end of the hallway (the stairs ended on the left side, and you walked to the left to get to the door). The door handle is on the right side of the door, so the door will open away from you and to the left.
"Tie a rope to the doorknob, push the door open, step back, and yank on the rope if we need to close it?" Erric says, while humming a tune to himself absentmindedly. He's oddly not panicked like he's been since the mirror cracked. He's starting to accept that this is reality now, trying to peer out windows and see if they're similarly obscured as the swirly doors.
Maldorn puts away his horn, which he hald already unhooked from his belt in hopes his suggestion would be accepted. Once upstairs, the old ranger loops his bow around his back and draw his daggers. He slowly walks to the front of the group and down the hallway, putting his ear to the closed door at the end of it without saying a single word while Erric and Jambiya perfect the new version of the old plan.
Erric will duck down quick to the floor and look under the door to see if there is light of any kind coming through, and helping Maldorn perceive sound/motion etc (if Maldorn wanted an advantage roll).
Erric, all the windows are obscured. There aren't any right where you are now, but there were/are windows on the exterior walls of the kitchen, dining room and entry room, and all of them were/are similarly obscured by swirling, dark clouds.
Maldorn hears no sounds coming from the other side of the door. As far as Erric can tell, it's pitch black in the next room.
The door opens and everyone peers in. From the light of the torch, you all see you're looking into a plush, 30x20 bedroom. You would guess that this was, or is, the master bedroom. The chamber is dominated by an elegant four-poster bed, in which a beautiful woman lies in a restless sleep.

It is closed. (I totally would have said that in a spooky voice if I had said it aloud.)
Jambiya will approach the door cautiously. Does it open in, or out?

"It's not the best door for our plan," Jambiya notes. "Someone will have to be in the doorway to be able to shut it again."

Jambiya will pause in their discussion to let Maldorn listen in silence.

Anafrey lets out a dejected sigh and flings the door open.
~♡~
(We've tied a small rope to the door handle and given Anafrey the end to be able to yank it back per the last post with the idea.)

Maldorn also prepares an arrow, after putting away his daggers once more.

“Well, you are holding the torch, Master Jeric, might as well lead the way... I’ll cover you with my bow.”
Maldorn mindlessly uses one of the ends of his bow to scratch an itch on his head. It’s easy to notice that he is uncomfortable with his surroundings.
