The merchant looks confused, "What? You've all saw the wares. All I have in my cart are simple tools and goods. I've not have the conscious nor coin for such things. Besides that, what I knew of the road is that it was simply close to the forest. And I've already heard tales of what kind of monsters are in there." He feeds his mule an apple, "But...can we keep going? I'd rather not attract predators from the forest with the corpses...not mentioning the one in the back."
Elwin recalled: leathers, skins, tools. He hadn't exactly dug through all the material, but still, he hadn't really spotted anything noteworthy in the wagon. Was this damnable noble seriously just trying to steal basic goods and wares from merchants? Maybe she just liked expensive rare fruits from distant lands, wanted a particular one, and was gambling with the bandits' lives in the hopes of it turning up. Typical.
He shrugged and turned back toward Kosh. "I don't know what this's 'bout, but looks like Lady Bianca's request sez more 'bout her than our merchant friend here." He enjoyed mocking noble titles by saying them like that.
Turning back to the merchant, he smiled and continued. "'Pologies, friend! Had to suss things out a bit, yeah? Clearly, you's good though. Our rest is 'bout up, so we'll be on our way momentarily." He said the word with a bit of over-enunciation, as if he wasn't really used to using it. "That's 'less anyone's got a 'jection or two?"
Unless there are objections to moving on, Elwin will wait a few more minutes for Yuno to recover. Once she's up, he'll distribute 8 gold to each of the others, quickly re-cast the warning symbols on the foreheads of the bandit corpses, and finally hop back into the back of the wagon, covering up again just in case. (Stealth Roll:5)
I'll go ahead and add the 8gp to Elwin's inventory for his cut now.
Gedyr will ride in the back again, not concealing himself this time. He will also investigate the cart closely seeing if he can find any secret compartments or other goods that don't seem right.
"Lets not forgo the bounties. It would be a waste to just let those bandit's fingers be eaten by wolves or some such when they can also fetch a pretty copper. It seems these lot won't be needing them anymore anyway." ( I presume the detect magic before didn't sense anything?) Janter looks puzzled a bit and asks "How exactly do you all suppose they know the fingers turned in are actually from bandits, and not bits of innocent people set upon by such bandits when turned in?"
If they hadn't been already, he goes about clipping the fingers off the corpses to bring with them for the bounty, wrapping them in cloth cut from clothing of one of the slain, carefully ties the package closed, and stowed in his pack, and settles himself back in the cart. "I'm surely hoping this doesn't leak..."
"Lets not forgo the bounties. It would be a waste to just let those bandit's fingers be eaten by wolves or some such when they can also fetch a pretty copper. It seems these lot won't be needing them anymore anyway."
"Already got 'em, mate," chuckled Elwin as he tossed the small burlap sack to Janter. He was actually glad to be rid of them; it wasn't that they grossed him out, rather, he just hated keeping track of details.
"How exactly do you all suppose they know the fingers turned in are actually from bandits, and not bits of innocent people set upon by such bandits when turned in?"
The warlock shrugged and smiled. "Honor system? Seems a mite foolish to me, but they seem to pay out each time, so I guess it's working for 'em."
As the party settles back into the cart, the merchant is relieved to leave such a bloody scene behind him. The cart goes on its way and after a short while, the merchant speaks, "And...did I hear you all right? Did you all say a noble? I mean sure we got some of the kingdom's knights and dwarves here but no nobles. The only few that seem like nobles is those big merchants back at Saltmarsh or those people trying to stake a claim in the marshes."
"And...did I hear you all right? Did you all say a noble? I mean sure we got some of the kingdom's knights and dwarves here but no nobles. The only few that seem like nobles is those big merchants back at Saltmarsh or those people trying to stake a claim in the marshes."
"Well, she calls herself Lady Bianca," called Elwin from the back of the cart.
"If she's NOT some dandy noble, she's takin' to actin' like one."
He listened intently, trying to discern if the merchant might have heard the name.
Kosh waits patiently for folks to decide that not standing in the road is a proper course of action, then walks beside the wagon, between Yuno and the woods. "It's time we returned to the keep. Turn in the grisly trophies and get back to The Work."
The merchant was more responsive to the mention of a noble. Yet the name itself doesn't stir any signs of familiarity nor recognition. Perhaps the mention of a noble made the man curious, as he said they weren't normal to see in the region.
@ Gedyr
The carriage is very old. With some parts rotting or haven been replaced recently, While it is possible to make additions to the cart, the first issue would be repairing all of it. As you can see with the weak planks and rusting iron fittings, there are no means to hide anything.
(Sorry about that Kosh.)
As the carriage arrives in the small town, Yuno finds herself awake from a sudden rocking of the carriage. The carriage comes to a stop near a small store as the merchant waves to the storeowner. "I'll be sure to pay you all once I've done my deals with my friend here. And I can give you all a ride towards the keep since you all probably don't want to stay with this corpse for that long." The merchant says as he starts to unload some wares.
The people of the town do give some glances and stares. Some of admiration, fear, or lust, with most of the onlookers being young lasses or children who stare in awe. While there are the few that avoid staring or the store itself. Otherwise, the elderly in the town is the only one that gives little attention, not afraid nor stunned to see adventurers.
I'm assuming Yuno wakes up with 1 HP. Can I spend a hit die to heal like you can on short rests?
Yuno groggily sits up rubs her head with her blackened arm. "Oww..." She suddenly sees that she's in a village and goes Shit shit shit! I need to act innocent this instant. In her head. She decides that instead of trying to act innocent on such short notice, it would be better to just clam up and look confused. So she remains seated on the cart and looks around at the people looking at the party but she doesn't say anything or act menacing.
Kosh offers Yuno a waterskin, "You had a close call." His tone is awkward. He knows he's supposed to express empathy, but really has no idea how to do that.
Yuno takes the waterskin and drinks. She says, "Yeah, well the leader was a pansy to not finish the job. You know that's what I'd have done. She looks at the chopped fingers and says, "Glad the rest were able to take him." She then grins and says, "I claim credit 'cause I softened him up for the rest AHAHAHAHAHAHAH."
She notices Kosh's uncharacteristic awkwardness and says, "What's a matter with you? What's with your sudden tone shift? Your sudden awkwardness is enough to give a girl mood-whiplash. " She then makes a face that is very obviously faking surprise and touchs her cheeks with her fingers to make her faked surprise look even more fake and theatrical. Still holding the grin, which the only thing she isn't faking about her current facial expression, she says with a gasp, " You're one of those guys who are shy around pretty women! So did you fall in love with a girl in the village? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" She then falls backwards on her back and continues laughing while lying in the cart.
"I have trouble reading people. It's like they're written in another language. You're honest. At least out there." He gestures to the woods. "It makes things easier."
Yuno sits up and says, "Honest? Me? Are you even listening to yourself? I'm a-" She bites her tongue, relieved that she stopped herself before she blurted out something she'd regret. She quickly turns her gaze to woods Kosh gestures at and changes the subject, or at least tries to, "The woods? Were you raised by wolves or something?"

Me, Myself, and I
8 Gold added in advance.
I think it would take 1 hour for Yuno to wake up since DM said she will wake up on Short Rest.
(OOC: I can't wait to level up and take Fighter so I can take two-weapon fighting for more damage)

@DM, let me know when it's time for Yuno to wake up. She will wake up with 1 HP or can I roll a hit die+CON to add to that 1 HP?
