On Klarg: this is the first time I've ever actually used a simple barbarian as an NPC in the arenas. Last time I rolled a 1, Sha'kar deleted Klarg before he ever acted. I don't think I'd even picked his items yet.
Sha'kar arrives, and Klarg sinks into the ground, like someone hadn't even baked the clay he was shaped from.
I picked Bugbear as a non-human race I thought would be interesting with Barbarian and then stole the name from the obvious source. All he really shares is a name and some limited personality.
On a more serious note, I have an Aarakocra player in my level 3 match who is just flying straight up into the sky. Thoughts?
I'm fond of Aarakocra for purely sentimental reasons, but they sure do present a problem...
(Or maybe it's not a problem, idk.)

@BDaddly: I consider doing the same for NPCs. But then I realized, eh, go the "easier" route and just make them all human variants. Keep the more bonker ideas at bay that I might cook up.
On another note, was there ever a height limit on flight in the arena? I know there was a heavily hinted one in the underground ran by Persuasion way back when, but not sure if that was a loose port or just something special added there.
@Futurisitc: As for the beasts inquiry pushed forth by Futuristic_kf way back when, and though it would suck for those wanting flying monkey and tressym's as familiar, I'm fine with the limiter on any from adventure books.

Dang Nabit! I keeping getting ninja'd left and right! D:<
My leanings would be a barrier limit to prevent the eventuality that is -- I fly to maxium longbow/heavy crossbow range and with sharpshooter fire with outright impunity -- scenario. Even with matches with objectives, there are two whose limited to just knocking out the opponent while avoiding eventual obstacles.
And if there is to be a limit(assuming there wasn't one), should it cap out at the max range a spell can get without augmentation (Spell Sniper, Eldritch Spear, etc). A bare minimum, maybe 60ft, at most 150ft.
Though I guess the alternative would just be people grabbing the same weapons and hopefully getting lucky shots.
I'd say she's fled the arena. Usually I just implied that I didn't want people being unsporting and they simply self regulated. I can dig up a quote here from my PMs though...
I've requested that the winged folk not abuse their flight. So they've all self regulated. Flying out of range of your opponent's ranged attacks is equivalent to climbing over the arena walls.
Hard limits might be 25 feet, half the arena width (40 feet), or the whole of the arena's width (80 feet).
Edit: side note, I'm entirely too chill. I'd very likely give a player a warning in PM like, "if you continue to flee the battle you will be considered to have forfeit. Please remain within 40 feet of the ground."

Too late to delete Klarg before he acts, but hopefully Sha'kar can still delete him from the fight at some point here :D

Too many heals on that team! He just wouldn’t stay down!
pretty sure I know the answer but doesn’t hurt to ask: I’m guessing Tiny Servant would be considered a summon? (But I didn’t summon it, just infused it with the ability to move!!! :p)
Yes Tiny Servant would be considered a summoning spell since you're creating a creature (even though it used to be an object). Similar to Animate Objects, which was (I believe) the original reason for banning summons.

Except your team had 10,001 options for getting around the unhittable person. :P But eh, t'is what I expected going into the coliseum with my particular build. Unless I luck out on facing a largely attack roll reliant team, I'm gonna get schooled in just every possible way for most matches. X)
What matches are due to be starting next? Another level 4 after the level 3 finishes? Another level 3? Some other higher level? I'm happy to jump in and DM a match as long as it's not the next level 5 one after the current level 5 match finishes.
3rd and 5th is looking close to over, so it should be the 6th, 3rd(if 4th is low on particpants), 5th, and so on. That's assuming there's no special event just before or for the 6th level match.

I'll run whatever match (again, not level 5) that is most useful. I'd much prefer to run a level with an even number of players though, so Amaruve can stop haunting me.

Hey! I got hit!!!! Once...
it just only took away my temp HP and didn’t get to my normal health.
it’s not my fault Klarg couldn’t roll higher attacks!
edit: and the other team had their own unhittqble person!
