You cannot add specific feats through anything. You can make a feature where they can choose to add a feat of their choice, much like Variant Human. But that is it.

Unfortunately, last I checked, the "choose a feat" modifier does not actually work for us.

I don't think you checked very well then. .¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Coz, yes, it definitely does.

Instead of granting feats as subclass features, why not create something unique to your subclass and let them choose their feats as they level up like normal?
The “Feat->Choose a Feat” modifier only works properly on races, not anywhere else.
I literally posted a video showing that's not true.

They might be wanting to replicate previous editions where you got ASI (only the ASI, not feat) every 4th level and a Feat every 3 levels.
I've come across quite a few games that do this or just allow both ASI and the Feat at 4th level/etc.

Fair enough. Was it items that it wouldn't work on then? That conversation was quite a bit ago, but maybe Sposta remembers. I'll see if I can't find it.

I didn’t say it doesn’t work on subclasses, I said it doesn’t work properly on subclasses. Try giving it to the same subclass twice and see what happens.
How can i grant feats with in homebrewing a subclass. I'm trying to add feats but without getting the drop bar to choose.

If I am understanding you correctly, I believe you will have to recreate the feat(s) manually.
You can create a copy of whichever one you need and see how it works, and then just copy it into your subclass as a granted feature/option.
