Hello! Long story short, for a small campaign I'd need to balance the Psionic Soul Sorcerer down to be on level with all the other subclasses. I'd need suggestions on how to go about it.
For example, the talent die recovering at a short rest and with a bonus action seems way overpowered if you consider all of the spells that can be learnt temporarily, cast without components, and massively improved.
Any way you could think of to make it more balanced? (without simply not allowing it)
The subclass is fine. Sorcerers start with the lowest number of Spells Known and unlike warlocks they can't augment that with invocations. The sorcerer spell list isn't big on utility spells and the extra spells they learn have to be from the divination or enchantment schools, which generally have limited combat uses. Each additional spell they pick is also a chance to shoot themselves in the foot and shrink their Psionic Talent Die.
Psychic Sorcery is neat but spellcasting monsters rarely have counterspell and Sorcerers already have access to Subtle Spell. It's going to be more of a social interaction tool than a combat tool.
Alright! Thank you for the heads up! I just started worrying because I carried over those said concerns from the player currently playing the psionic sorcerer.

Remember, they can only reset their Psi Die 1ce/day. With the natural ebb-and-flow, it will probably be below maximum a lot of the time. You should be fine.
Psi Replenishment. As a bonus action, you can calm your mind for a moment and restore your Psionic Talent die to its starting size. You then can’t use Psi Replenishment again until you finish a long rest.

I don’t think you need to worry about it. The Psionic Sorcerer is pretty well balanced as is. You should be fine.
