"I will stay with the refugees and tend to their aches and pains. I am sure not all of them are used to walking all day, and we can't afford for them to slow down with the goblins behind us," offers Randall. Looking ahead, he wonders aloud, "Where are the riders we sent? Should they have not alerted the city and have returned here to tell us the news? Should we send someone ahead to ensure we are not leading the refugees into a trap?"

“When we get these refugees safe, I am going looking for some answers. Petcan, would you mind joining me?”
OOC: as a Lore bard and a Wizard, I would assume we have the highest chance of finding answers?
Petcan is neither of those things lol
Oh, yeah, sorry that’s Whisper. Unless anyone else would like to join, I guess I’ll find answers on my own once we get to the city. But yeah, I forgot about them messengers, they should have been back shouldn’t they?
"Well, we haven't gotten word back from the messengers, and they should have had time to get to the city by now. Let's hope it is just as simple as the city readying for a siege and not letting our messengers back out to rejoin us and let us know what is going on," says Randall hopefully, adding, "But sending scouts ahead to see what is going on at the city is probably wise. If there are two goblin hordes joining south of us, there may be more around, and it wouldn't do to lead the refugees right into them."

"I wish I was sure this wasn't a trap, but indeed like brother Randall says; the messengers should have been back by now. How many horses do you still have Master Reeve? It might be best if we take a couple of horses and ride ahead to see what's up there. the hordes behind should be delayed by a good amount of time, so it would be save for you to stay here a bit longer while we scout ahead and come and report back."

“So, in other words, we’re right in the middle of a strategic operation, a trap. What kind of person can convince THREE goblin hordes to attack ONE place?”
“Did any messengers get through to warn Laurentiis of the refugees approaching with the goblin horde of our own on our heels? If so, did they make any strategies to deal with the goblin horde already between them and us?” asks Randall, grasping at any hope of avoiding weary refugees getting slaughtered by goblins or mired in the swamp.

Does anyone know much about Laurentiis? Is there anything special or different about it? Anything that has changed about it recently that might shed light on what is happening?

If I need to roll, I got +5 to History, and a few other skills depending upon what is necessary.
OOH! This place has an amazing woodcarver that makes the most beautifully sounding instruments! And I’ve heard there’s this bakery on Main Street that bakes these most delightful little cake balls on sticks! I think they call them “cake pops”?
"Desserts are nice, but the real problem here is surviving long enough to taste one. Our options seem limited. One, we keep going and attack the goblin horde from behind with whatever strength of arms the refugees have--hopefully just before they reach the city--and we hope that the army of Laurentiis traps the goblins between us and defeats them before we are slaughtered. Two, we divert to the north and try to find a place to hide everyone, which seems unlikely given the difficulty in hiding the passage of so many people. Third, I suppose, we could try to go distract or draw off the goblin horde ahead with a small force, distracting them enough that the refugees could slip by while the army is busy with us. I'm not sure if any of those are great options, but what choices do we have?" says Randall, retreating for a moment to say a prayer in this desperate situation.

"This is very worrisome, we need the army to come out now there is just one horde here, not only when there are three. Did they see any siege weapons? Because the others hordes coming even have those as well."

”I have no such magic to make “kabooms” from a distance, Ceo, but perhaps if we sneak up on the horde on their left flank and occupy their attention with ranged attacks and general harrying, the refugees can sneak by past their right flank (at some safe distance) and get to the city,” replies Randall.

”That’s a good idea too, and would be quite the distraction,” answers Randall. He turns to the messenger and asks, “What kind of armaments and siege weapons does the horde between us and the city have? How many troops are there and did you see any irregulars?”

"The goblin horde ahead doesn't have any siege weapons! Maybe around a thousand goblins total, with a small group of bugbears if that's what you mean by irregulars. Why would you ask about siege weapons?"
Petcan holds up calming hands. “I think we’re all feeling just a tad helpless to do anything. We want to help, to fight! What can we do?”
