"Alright, let us focus on saving these refugees, and lets hope the army of the city makes the right moves." Bow says before turning to the messenger.

"Thank you for the information, if you see any chance of getting back with a horse that might be good to tell them about the siege weapons, if not you are welcome to join us in leading the refugees away."

"If you lot of adventurers got these refugees this far I'm sticking with you. I used to hunt in that area as a lad and know the terrain well so I can guide you around the goblin horde."

The messenger looks around and then adds, "We should get moving unless anyone has something else to do?"

"Nope lets go, Ill tell there captain that we will continue moving."

The 'Refugees of Garrum' head North and after 2 hours of sludging through spongy ground, shouts begin to ring out and when you gather to see what is causing the ruckus a couple of half bird, half beetle creatures have come crashing out of the nearby trees. They have bony, spiked protuberances all over their bodies and their arms end in wickedly curved hooked claws.

 I think we’re trying to get into the city with the refugees so we can get a better plan than six guys fighting hordes of goblins. 

Seeing the damn creatures Bow readies his hand crossbow, He imbues it with ride of the dawn taking 4 damage in the process before firing of a shot at the nearest (using sharpshooter bonus)

Your bolt clacks off the chitin armor of the bird-beetle and it lurches towards you swinging it's hooked claws.

Petcan casts phantasmal force, splitting the magic in two to hit both bird beetles as his chest glows bright red/white again all the way up to his neck and smoke exhales from his nostrils. 

The bird beetles see a swarm of birds pecking away at them

Bird-beetle 1 INT save: 4 

Bird-beetle 2 INT save: 15 

Swinging it's arms about it's head, bird-beetle 1 swings wildly toward Petcan.

Attack: 7 Damage: 15 

Attack: 19 Damage: 10

Grim attacks bird-beetle 1 with his Longsword

1st attack: 19 misses

2nd attack: 20 Damage: Critical 11

Bird-beetle 1 screams in rage and pain not liking the taste of Grim's steel at all.

Randall:

Seeing Bow in trouble with the first of the creatures, Randall calls on the power of the Morninglord as he advances, interposing himself between the archer and the insectoid bird.

As he takes up a defensive position directly in front of the enemy, a glowing mace takes form and whacks at it!

Hook Horror 2 attacks Randall with both swipes of it's hooked limbs.

Randall:

Narrowly avoiding a decapitating strike from the Hook Horror, Randall takes a glancing but powerful blow from the follow-up strike.
