Ceo asks; ”What if I could get the leader of the bigger horde to fire those siege weapons on the opposite hoard? I have a way with words, and it wouldn’t take much to turn the hordes against each other. I could even try to divide their horde further, turn each against them.”
For reference, Ceo is offering to cast Charm Person to turn the leaders against each other.
"I'm planning on firing at them from about 550' to 600' away. How close will you need to be to convince them?" Grim asks
"Well, timing is an important part of the plan. If it's still dark before the two hordes join up I'll try the plan. If it's daylight, there's no point. So it depends on how fast the Goblins are moving. I'm not suicidal. But if the timing is right, it could delay them substantially as well as reducing their numbers"
"Well, if you really want to go ahead, but better be fast. I'm staying hear helping the rest with burning the bridge; which should slow them down substantially aswell."

"I like your idea, Grim, as it would set our enemies upon each other, but it would be a risky ruse to try and pull off with so little preparation. Perhaps you are right, and we should just cover the retreat of the refugees and burn the bridge behind us. I will go and check on the status of the incendiary pile at the center of the bridge," Randall says to the eager warrior.

“I think he means the - not one but - two hordes of goblins. This seems quite out of character, yeah? Like we’re about to be in one of those parts of history which are verrry interesting but you don’t actually want to live through yourself.” Petcan runs his fingers through his hair. “I’m not sure there’s any way for us to answer a question like that from here.”
"I will stay with the refugees and tend to their aches and pains. I am sure not all of them are used to walking all day, and we can't afford for them to slow down with the goblins behind us," offers Randall. Looking ahead, he wonders aloud, "Where are the riders we sent? Should they have not alerted the city and have returned here to tell us the news? Should we send someone ahead to ensure we are not leading the refugees into a trap?"

“When we get these refugees safe, I am going looking for some answers. Petcan, would you mind joining me?”
OOC: as a Lore bard and a Wizard, I would assume we have the highest chance of finding answers?
Petcan is neither of those things lol
Oh, yeah, sorry that’s Whisper. Unless anyone else would like to join, I guess I’ll find answers on my own once we get to the city. But yeah, I forgot about them messengers, they should have been back shouldn’t they?
"Well, we haven't gotten word back from the messengers, and they should have had time to get to the city by now. Let's hope it is just as simple as the city readying for a siege and not letting our messengers back out to rejoin us and let us know what is going on," says Randall hopefully, adding, "But sending scouts ahead to see what is going on at the city is probably wise. If there are two goblin hordes joining south of us, there may be more around, and it wouldn't do to lead the refugees right into them."

"I wish I was sure this wasn't a trap, but indeed like brother Randall says; the messengers should have been back by now. How many horses do you still have Master Reeve? It might be best if we take a couple of horses and ride ahead to see what's up there. the hordes behind should be delayed by a good amount of time, so it would be save for you to stay here a bit longer while we scout ahead and come and report back."

“So, in other words, we’re right in the middle of a strategic operation, a trap. What kind of person can convince THREE goblin hordes to attack ONE place?”
“Did any messengers get through to warn Laurentiis of the refugees approaching with the goblin horde of our own on our heels? If so, did they make any strategies to deal with the goblin horde already between them and us?” asks Randall, grasping at any hope of avoiding weary refugees getting slaughtered by goblins or mired in the swamp.
