Amble was in the middle of casting a healing spell when Undertow's life was taken right in front of them. Lamenting the loss of a new acquaintance and realizing the ranger is now beyond their druidic capabilities, the tortle grabs Undertow's corpse and spends a few seconds placing it gently in a protected corner {AR-24}. Then, not being able to see the threat that initially knocked the beast master down, Amble retracts into their shell in a defensive move.
-> Amble's AC increases by 4 and they gain advantage on STR and CON saving throws. They are also prone, have speed equal to 0, and have disadvantage on DEX saving throws. Finally, they can't take reactions.
10. Amble (87/90; lime) - Shell Defense,Emboldened Bond (d4);
09. Undead Sailor (x3) - two of them are turned/roaming and effectively out of combat for now;
MAP:
NOTES: I assume that the Driftglobe is shedding Light from where Gulp is, although it is currently out of play. Same applies to Bubbles' Candle of the Deep, which is in play. The light blue musical note token represents Shanty's Tentacle of the Deeps. The sand-colored square centered on Gar represents his protective cube, but it is invisible and not all players realize it is in play. I am placing Shaolar back in the map for convenience, but not all player know where he is.

LAIR ACTION
The general area begins to rumble with a familiar vibration. All those opposing Gar who are outside of his protective cube find themselves having to fight back coral shoots.
-> STR saving throw vs. becoming restrained {DC 18}:
Barnacle: 20
Bubbles: 18
Whale-Gulp: 26
Amble: 26
Barnacle struggles a bit but finds that a little spark of radiant motivation goes a long way. Whale-Gulp proves to be too massive for the coral shoots. Bubbles fights off the growing tendrils with ease. Amble is more than adequately safe within their shell.
(Bubbles, Whale-Gulp, and Shanty are up next. Bubbles and Gulp can see/locate Gar but are not necessarily fully aware that he is within a protective cube. Bubbles saw where Shaolar went but does not know his exact location, while Gulp can locate the genasi easily. As for the malignant sea current, Bubbles can tell that something attacked Undertow but cannot see what or where it is. Gulp can locate it with echolocation. Finally, Shanty is now aware that some walls are preventing him from moving too away from Gar after observing Barnacle's struggle, but does not fully understand the magical effect in play. Let me know if anyone has questions.)

Still filled with rage, and perhaps even more so seeing Undertow fall, he moves swims toward where he saw the invisible creature attack and swings Last Rites from left to right in large sweeps, attacking recklessly (but without GWM feat) but a little more methodically, knowing that he needs to control his swings to try to catch the creature with the weapon.
Gulp-whale made a few melodic sounds singing the location of the second enemy. He hoped that at least Amble could understand him, but if not, he could show. However, before swimming away, he tried to get the enemy in front of him.
Attack: 31 Damage: 33
(The idea is not to hit Gar, but to move him with the cube. Would it be possible?)
Then the big body gracefully moved towards Shaolar - to show others where to strike.
Bubbles moves closer to where Undertow fell, his rage being further fulled by his companion's death. As he moves {AQ-28}, the barbarian catches a glimpse of a faintly nondescript face in the water. Betting on a hunch that whatever creature this is has not moved, Bubbles swings Last Rites in a wide arc, which forces him to think about the angle of the blade and, hence, making it a more thought-out attack.
The enchanted weapon catches something in its arc, prompting Bubbles to swing a second time. (Malignant Sea Current takes 34 magical piercing and radiant damage.)
(@Blue: What you are thinking of is a shove action. As I mentioned, Gulp is not fully aware of the existence of the protective cube just yet, so a well calculated attempt to move it seems a bit odd for this round. If you'd like to try that in your next round, after interacting with the cube this round, then sure, that's fair game. Note that this is no guarantee that the cube will actually move. You'll have to try and see. For this turn, we'll just go with the attack as rolled.)
Whale-Gulp moves a bit closer to Gar and attempts to wack it with his tail. The gigantic appendage whirls with ferocity but fails to strike Gar. Instead, it strikes his protective cube and bounces back.
Wanting to point out the location of the other enemy to its companions, Whale-Gulp abandons the fight against Gar for the moment and swims toward Shaolar. The passage is a bit tight, but the whale can squeeze himself into position if needed. Shaolar is now just 10 feet away from Whale-Gulp.
(Hoped more for the side effect - the intention is for the tail attack to hit Gar, but since the cube takes the hit, it could flinch (or not?). DnD is very limited and artificial but logically a fterr standing structure should react to the blow, should not it?)
Since squeezing is an option, the Whale tries to bite its enemy (and blocks the passage with its body):
Attack: 28 Damage: 21 (if a hit - a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw or be swallowed by the whale. )

Whale-Gulp squeezes into the tight entrance and bites Shaolar. The tight angle favors the genasi, who avoids being swallowed despite the large amount of damage. (Shaolar Quanderil takes 21 piercing damage.)

In a tight spot, Shanty tries to force Gar away by sending Dissonant Whispers his way. Gar winces for a moment, but that's about it. (Gar takes 4 psychic damage.)
A prone and grappledSandlot is too good a target for Gar to pass on, especially after the cleric dared to interrupt his most immediate plans: "Fine! If you insist on dying next, so be it!"
Sandlot fights back the crunch of the claw holding him in place. As the trident is about to strike his side, Barnacle suddenly appears out of "not-so-thin water" and extends an arm in front of his companion to receive the blow on his behalf. (Barnacle takes 8 magical piercing damage.)
At the very last moment believing avoiding harm to be impossible, Sandlot risked the reassertion of force from the claw to grab onto Wave once it hit the mark. And through gritted teeth, whether it be from pain of the injury or sheer effort, old muscles strain to try and keep a hold of the weapons before its drawn out of reach.
"... Not too late... it is.... A choice... you still have, Gar... Undeserved... though some may say...."Sandlot said breathlessly while trying to maintain the hold, even but for precious seconds longer. "Away from this course... Your own destruction... Can be averted... But only if... you stop this... Help... This one shall in this." After saying this, the Aged Locathah grunted and groaned as he strained to slip out of the grapple; his trapped parts perhaps seeming to liquify for a moment, as Eldath's magic cast upon him assured his escape. Then he rose to his full height and with narrowed at Gar, sought to rip Wave free of its master's grip with he one hand.
With the other still gripping tightly upon the music box, come what may, Sandlot would make a circular motion with it and call upon his goddess for protection. Not for his sake however, but with a smile at the bard, directing the miracle his way.
Movement: Spending 5ft to escape Grapple(as per FoM), then spending half to get up from Prone.
Action: Attempt to pull Wave out of Gar's Grip. Athletics: 22. (Spending DM inspiration to make it happen)
Bonus Action: Cast (1st level)Sanctuary on Shanty. (Wis Save 15) for any future attacks targeting me boi.
Sandlot makes good use of the enchantment Amble had placed on him and easily escapes Gar's grasp once he puts his mind to it. Swimming back to an upright position, the cleric grabs one of Wave's prongs while it is still retracting away from Barnacle's arm and twists it out of Gar's humanoid hand. "How dare you?"
Sandlot ignores the rhetorical question for now and instead bestows an Eldath blessing of his own on Shanty.

Reaction:
Much like before, Barnacle watches Gar's attacks fall towards his companion with deadly intent. Focussing, he breathes out slowly, closes his eyes and feels the bite of Gar's trident. Opening his eyes, he appears to have again jumped a short distance, and now is face to face with his foe.
(Using protective bond to teleport within 5ft of Sandlot (AI,25) and take the 8 damage of Gar's attack).
Action:
Barnacle narrows his eyes as he feels the touch of destiny upon him. "Finally, it begins."
He thrusts Fork forwards towards Gar's chest.
Attack 1: 23 Damage: 13
Attack 2: 28 Damage: 9
(If it applies, Barnacle uses emboldening bold to add 1d4 (4 to his first attack roll.)
Bonus Action:
Should either attack hit, Barnacle leverages his weight along his trident to unsteady Gar. Using trip attack there's 1d8 (8 to add to damage and Gar needs to succeed a DC16 strength check or be knocked prone.

Although the attack hits, Gar manages to avoid being forced into an awkward stance, which, in turn, allows him to block the second attack easily. (Gar takes 13 magical piercing damage.)
Clearly not comfortable with the idea of being swallowed by a whale, Shaolar disengages and swims away to a nearby corner {AP-15}. He looks somewhat desperate.
LEGENDARY ACTION
Gar continues to attack: "Give it back!"
-> Claw vs. Sandlot: Attack: 19Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
Gar's cool has definitely been taken down a notch.
(@Blue: Amble was within their shell during Gulp's last turn, so they probably missed the whale's attempt at communicating.)
Feeling a bit safer than before, Amble pops out of their shell (bonus action) and slowly swims out of the nook where they laid Undertow to rest. Noticing Bubbles is engaged in battle with something, Amble takes a wide arc around the area, just to be safe, and moves in a circle to eventually reach Bubbles side {AR-29}. The tortle tells the locathah barbarian: "I'll support you as I can."
