"You only think you do not care about Her. But you care about all She does, because She is the wind and the trees and the mountains. But I will be quiet on such matters - it once offended the Elves I lived with. Tell me more about Gruumsh, if you will."
Kisiki keeps a weary eye on Sarith the whole night. Now is not the time to talk about it, though. They will discuss Sarith's predicament in the morning.

Phodoxia has just about had enough of Kisiki's religious fundamentalism, but there are far worse fiends to worship, as the orcs' account of the gnolls is an uncomfortable reminder. "It's one thing to call someone, some high creator being, by different names," she mutters, "but when you describe a whole different person from the other, who is and likes and wants different things, you're not making sense anymore. Whoever made the sense of natural order and law doesn't stick tails on goblins as blessings."
Phodoxia hadn't paid much attention to Sarith himself. She had been more concerned at what seemed like the group banding together again against a member of the group that they decided they didn't like or who had crossed some line. It'll be us next, she keeps thinking to herself nervously.
Shoowaa's comment gives her pause, though. She knows he's pretty connected to natural things. He can turn into a spider after all. "He's got a disease, huh," she muses thoughtfully. "Yes, let's cure him! How do we do that? Calminius lets me do some healing sometimes, but I don't know much about diseases. I know a lot about poisons, though. Is he poisoned?"
Petmailer spends his four hours meditating, sitting in the corner with his legs crossed, back against the cavern wall, senses on edge. When it is his turn to watch, he spends his time softly talking with the orc who would have been on duty, trading stories, relaying the concerns that he has seen in the leadership of the Drow, his concern that evil forces, ? demons? could be leading his people astray. He tries to leave hope for an alliance with orcs, or at the least, against any evil demon seeking to gain power by using their respective peoples as pawns in their game.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Unless anyone else has something to bring up, we can progress things to the next morning. In general chit-chat with the orcs, they can give you some information about the area immediately around where you are staying that night, but otherwise, they are as lost as you are.
The large rift that Fargas described which his party was looking for is nearby. This group hasn't been to the darklake and doesn't know how to find it. Sarith knows these passages better than anyone else, but he is having nothing to do with the orcs and doesn't participate in the watch. He bandages his wounds, finds a spot to rest his back against the wall and spends the night trying to heal up.
The next morning, the orcs pack their stuff up early and get ready to set out in search of the passage that will lead them back home.
In the morning, Kisiki answers Petmailer, "His problems run deeper than his javelin wounds. He is bad and will get worse, but he won't let me cure him. It is not he who refuses aid, but the parasite inside him. He is a threat to our group like this - he must be cured or he mustleave."
Then Kisiki turns to the group as a whole. "Do we still travel to this rift? I would not turn away a divine boon that would aid us in leaving this place."

Before the long rest, as she's sitting discussing Sarith's condition with Shoowaa, Phodoxia glances over at the injured drow and a Healing Light pulses through his wounds, closing them a little. "He's not going to let that arrogant lizard heal him," she says. "Can't you cure it too, Shoowaa? You know fungus and things. Maybe he'd be more likely to let us help him and not Kisiki, who is sure he's right when he's actually dangerously wrong about really important things." She gives a meaningful glance to the other goblin's accursed tail. "I wouldn't trust him either."
Healing Light: 5
After the long rest, in the morning, when she overhears Kisiki's question, she'll repeat to Shoowaa nervously, "We've gotta convince him or they'll all turn on him."And maybe us too.
Vethna shrugs off the orcs and simply keeps watch when she is suppose to and then rests otherwise. In the morning she is simply ready to move out. "Yes, I think this rift is our best next destination." She agrees.
Tanis is uncertain of how to react to Sarith's purported condition. He has not led us astray, nor threatened to kill someone in their sleep as Buppido did.
Ultimately he leaves it to the others. As far as the rift that Fargas had been looking for, if it is nearby, Tanis is reluctantly willing to try finding it and using it to escape if possible. But he doesn't trust ancient magic, especially with all the demon lords apparently gaining influence throughout the Underdark.
"If all of you are for trying the rift as a means of escape, then I will of course go with you. But I am wary of it and ancient magics. I think it is more likely we will need to continue to Darklake to try to elude drow pursuit. And then possibly on to some other Underdark location, possibly Gauntlgrym," he looks at Eldeth, "or another such known exit point. Maybe one of the ones Jimjar mentioned - Blingdenstone?"
To Petmailer's question - yes, everyone gets a long rest.
Everyone in the party looks refreshed, except Sarith. His wounds are partially healed up, in part do to Phodoxia's aid, but whatever is going on in his system is taking a toll on his stamina. But he is still very guarded and on edge. Kiski's read is correct that whatever is infecting him does not want to be removed and will fight any efforts to do so.
The orcs take their leave and head off in the opposite direction that you were headed.
Eldeth perks up at the thought of Gauntlgrym, but she will tell you that is a great distance away - far past the dark lake. Very far to the west.
Shuushar will tell you that he believes he knows of this rift Fargas speaks of. His people told tales that it was created by a giant worm tunneling its way down into the depths of the underdark centuries ago. He believes he can lead you to his city Sloobludop on the eastern shore of the Darklake from the rift, if the rift itself doesn't provide a means of getting to the surface.
Sarith listens to some of this. He knows of the rift and can get there from where you are. It isn't the most direct path to Sloobludop, but it does not add much to the travel. But he believes that much of the upper portion of the rift has collapsed over the centuries and the drow didn't believe it to be a reliable path to the surface for any of their raiding expeditions. He agrees with Sloobludop that there is a fairly easy trek to the darklake from the rift. He tells you that once you get there, he will leave you all at that point. He has no interest in getting to the surface or staying in the city with the Koa-Toa. It is still his goal to sail across the darklake to the west and take stool back to his home in the Neverlight Grove. This mention of the grove again triggers a spontaneous release of spores from stool and you all see visions of this strangely beautiful massive, fungal settlement.
Jimjar will chime in and offer that Blingdenstone isn't that far if you sail across the darklake from Sloobludop to the northwest and he can definitely get anyone wishing to return to the surface safely there from his home town.
Derendil just listens, taking all of this in. Fargas clearly wants to get to the rift in search of this lost tomb.
Tanis stretches. His eyes seem darker, even when he stands in the light, which is the only time he is visible anyway.
"The rift then? And then darklake, assuming the rift does not offer a way out. After which we can decide whether to go to Sloobludop or Neverlight Grove or Blingdenstone or elsewhere, splitting up or not. It's understandable you wish to depart, Sarith. Thank you for guiding us this far."
"Work for me, anywhere away from the wretched drow is a good direction for me." Vrah chimes in as he stretches out the kinks of sleeping on the cold ground.
You set out the next morning and move in the direction of the rift. Today, Sarith has said he wants to take the lead and scout in the front. (You're getting into more heavily tracked areas and he knows these paths well. We won't roll survival for staying on course, but if anyone wants to roll perception to keep an eye out for monsters or other groups of traveling humanoids, you can.)
Due to Shoowaa's spell, the goblin druid has a clear indication of where there are plentiful spots to harvest edible mushrooms. From time to time as you journey during the day, he encourages you to take short detours and you all are able to replenish your supply of clean water, scavenge some zurkhwood (the large mushroom stalks that can be used like wood if anyone wants to take some for later use), and are able to gather 3 or 4 days worth of food. Shoowaa targeted one particular type of mushroom with the spell, but places where those are found often have a lot of other species growing. Shuushar collects a number of mushrooms which can be used for flour, spices, and other uses.
You find one particular spot where there are some steam vents and you find a species you haven't seen before. Shuushar calls them Ormu. They are a bioluminescent green moss that grows in warm and damp areas. It sheds dim light in a 5-foot radius, and can be harvested, dried, and made into a phosphorescent powder or pigment.
You don't see any creatures or signs of any other parties passing through this area. With that perception however, you do notice from time to time a faint vibration in the stone beneath your feet.
Vrah would have requested the Orc leader to share his watch and then basically spend all night swapping monster stories.

"No it's some sort of fungal infection? Kiski said he could cure Sarith."

Vethna stays out front as well, and keeps an eye out for any dangers... Perception roll is a 19, rolled in the game log.
Vethna:
You don't see any creatures or signs of any other parties passing through this area. With that perception however, you do notice from time to time a faint vibration in the stone beneath your feet.
"You feel that?" Vethna asks the drow out front with her. "Something in the ground..." She pauses as she waits to see what the drow thinks of it.
