Moving at best about 20-22 miles a day due to Gellwin already being infected, it quickly becomes apparent that there is just nothing out there except snow and ice for the most part. It is bitterly cold and windy. The first day passes without issue, and by the end of the second day you start to notice that the ice has suddenly gotten a lot thinner, making ominous cracking sounds from time to time.
We tie a rope to one another with ten foot spacing. We'll use slip knots and half-hitch knots so that we can choose to rapidly untie from the chain in case of combat.
Gellwin keeps flames within his hands to keep them warm and to provide a beacon of light if the weather gets bad. He is interested in the ropework and does as needed.
Cade follows Bone’s directions for the ropework. “Good idea, doc. Though I would have suggested tying them ropes around our necks.” He says with an expression that leaves it entirely open whether he is serious or not.
As Petros ties the rope to himself he says, “From here on, it might be a good idea to start crawling with your arms and legs out as far as possible. Distributing our weight smartly seems like it will be important.”
The miles begin to crawl by as you cautiously make your way through the Thin Sheets, keeping your gear spread to even out the weight. As you reach about a hundred miles or so, you notice just up ahead a short ways, a griffon slumped against a snowbank with an arrow in its wing, obviously keeping it from taking off again.
“A Griffon. A dangerous beast. And somethin’ was more dangerous again.” Cade carefully looks around for features that might provide cover for an ambush. If he doesn’t see any place where attackers may lurk, he carefully approaches the griffon to have a look.
(Anything noticeable about the arrow? how does the griffon look otherwise, apart from the arrow to the wing?)
“You said it yourself, it’s dangerous. We should keep going, time spent trying to save this creature is time wasted as children die.” Petros puts bluntly.
Cade pulls back a bit and turns to his companions. “What do ye think? It doesn’t look ‘ostile to me.”
" I don't like to see anything in pain needlessly......but it looks healthy otherwise and capable of defending itself.....if I had prepared different blessings today I could speak with it."
" But we are in a hurry like Petros says.", he left silent the suspicion that Petros would be utterly unbothered by the deaths of the griffon or the children.
" We won't be long, if time permits perhaps we can assist on the way back?"
" Though.........if we could fly there it would be a much faster trip.......", he said wistfully but not hopefully.
(Cade votes for nornal pace.)
(Petros votes for a normal pace, reasoning that the group can’t be much help to anyone if they get lost.)
Normal please!

Cade does his best to keep an eye out for weaknesses in the ice ahead.

Gellwin frowned, " Any of you any good with critters? I'm ok but I've mostly just handled badgers and bears and the like...."
( Animal Handling +2.............anyone higher? Will give Help Action.)

(Make an animal handling check)
Animal handling: 13
The griffon pulls back as you approach, trying to take off again but unable to, whimpering and falling back down a few feet away again.
( Gellwin was offering to Help for advantage)
(In case advantage can be used: 13
Haha, alright then!)

(last call to interact with the griffon, will move on tomorrow otherwise)
