Vandar slowly crouches lower upon spotting the goblins, wanting to get as much cover as possible, but without making any sudden movements. He also motions for the others to remain quiet
When Lothar mentions that Gundren hired them the dwarf seems surprised for just a moment. "I..if you did the job I hired ya for, then I'll be more than happy to pay ya when we get back to town. But if we don't get out of here soon the goblins will find out that their leader is dead and they will come out in force looking for revenge. Now untie me and let's get out of here, we can talk later when it's safe."
The goblins have finished looting the corpse of the bugbear and have turned their attention to the robed goblin, they really don't seem very upset over the death of the bugbear.
(For the record you were paid by Barthen at Barthen's Provisions for delivering the wagon, Gundren had that arranged ahead of time. You came here, to rescue Gundren and retrieve the map to Wave Echo Cave, at the request of Sildar Hallwinter.)
“He’s not making sense. Goblins don’t rightly care too much about their leaders and seeking revenge. A new one just pops up like a weed. There’s more here, I think. Lets not be too hasty to leave.” Lothar said quietly in hushed tones to just the party members and keeping the dwarf tied up.
"The one ya just told me ya did! Now untie me or ya won't be getting paid for anything!" The dwarf says getting agitated and raising his voice. The goblins hear this and turn their attention to the treeline, drawing weapons and nocking arrows. One goblin runs inside through the curtain. The goblin in the robe barks a few orders and the group pulls back to the curtain and behind rubble to take up defensive positions. The goblins do not appear to have actually spotted you, but are definitely aware of your presence.
Silas turns to the dwarf and asks "we must assume that you and your brother know the location of wave echo cave. I mean that's why the goblins wanted you. If you do know you wouldnt mind telling us would you?"
"Funny thing," Vandar says. "We were already paid for the job YOU hired us for. Which you should have already known, considering you're the one that set up the payment in the first place..."
Gundren hesitates for just a moment. "I uh, I took a blow to the head when the goblins got me, and I've had a few bad days since then. So excuse me if I am having trouble remembering the face of every mercenary I've hired." clearly getting anxious to be untied he raises his voice again, "Now untie me or you will never find another dwarf willing to hire ya again!"
The goblins hear this and have clearly pinned down what direction you are in, you can see more activity behind the arrow slits and some more goblins have taken up positions behind cover near the curtain. You can not be certain how many there are, but they are not advancing.
Lothar drew his sword and looked at the goblins through the treeline. He knew that a full frontal assault was likely not to be in their best interest. "Gag him, and let us leave this place." he said.
Ugh, once again sorry for the delay, been fixing canoes for an outdoor ed center the past few days. Had to teach myself to weld plastic amongst other things.
The goblins have still made no move away from the castle. Gundren is now gagged and clearly very unhappy.
It occurs to Silas that you still have no explanation for the fresh blood in the room in which you found Gundren, (gundren is not wounded, nor were the bugbear or wolf before they left the room) also It occurs to Silas that it might be a good idea to search the dwarf who is acting nothing like the Gundren you briefly met in Neverwinter when he hired you.

"For now then us move on." Tibern says before stepping away from the dwarf to talk with the others. "We need to keep a close eye on him."

Thanks for clarifying who paid what.
Vandar nods to Lothar. "I agree, something is off here." He turns his attention back to Gundren. "And what job will you be paying us for?"
"The one ya just told me ya did! Now untie me or ya won't be getting paid for anything!" The dwarf says getting agitated and raising his voice. Tibern sighs and can only shrug. "Let him go but one of us should go with him unless the plan is to carry out a full scale assault on the place."
Silas turns to the dwarf and asks "we must assume that you and your brother know the location of wave echo cave. I mean that's why the goblins wanted you. If you do know you wouldnt mind telling us would you?"
"That mine belongs to me an my kin, gnome. I am not about to reveal its location to anyone who is keeping me tied up."
"Funny thing," Vandar says. "We were already paid for the job YOU hired us for. Which you should have already known, considering you're the one that set up the payment in the first place..."

"Gag him if he is going to yell and alert the goblins. I would rather not find ourselves surrounded." Tibern says as he draws his rapier slowly.
Lothar drew his sword and looked at the goblins through the treeline. He knew that a full frontal assault was likely not to be in their best interest. "Gag him, and let us leave this place." he said.
Silas will gag the dwarf with whatever he can find. He will then cast bless on the party.

Silas having a brief moment of clarity will say. "Why dont we search the dwarf?" Investigation 17
