Lothar walked up to Elmar and said, "Well met, Barthen. I am Lothar and seeking some assistance. I am delivering these goods as requested by Gundren Rockseeker to Barthen's Provisions. Are you the right man to deliver them to? Also, I wonder, where can I find the owner of the Lionshield Coster?"
Tibern will place the money for a single room and a meal on the counter. Afterwards he will find an empty table and take a seat, using the time they had to relax and plan for a concert he may possibly offer to perform later.
Silas will give this young lady 5gp, and tell her " keep working hard, and praise be to ilmater. Take this and go spend the night in the inn and get food for that child. I recommend the spiced potatoes" then silas will go to the inn and meet up with the party.
Glen walk about for few minutes looking for some who looks like they might have some useful information, or at least know where to look. He spots a shifty looking man wearing a grimy scarlet cloak. Glen approaches and addresses the man.
The man looks back at Glen suspiciously “And just who would these enemies of yours be?”
Glen sees the man shift his cloak just a little to reveal his hand resting on the grip of a dagger attached to his belt, “This town is Redbrand territory, we got all the power here and we ain’t looking to share.”
It would appear that the shadiest looking man here is not just a commoner and therefore not affected by heart of darkness. I see what you are going for with the new attitude and I like it but remember it only works with commoners and as I understand it only if they do not see you as a threat, so you can be scary and even a bit intimidating but not directly threatening. Anyway this guy is more than a simple commoner, you don’t get the feeling he is going to attack you, just that he is trying to intimidate you. You may still be able to get info out of him.
“Ah, yes! I’ve been expecting you.” Barthen replies, opening a log book on the counter.
“Now let’s see here, Gundren left 50 gold to be paid on delivery so here you are.” Barthen hands you small purse containing 50gp.
Barthen then has two young men in his employ unload the supplies from the cart. “You said the rest is going to the Lionshield Coster, that’s just south of the town square, cant miss it, big sign out front. Linene is usually there pretty late so you should still be able to drop this stuff off tonight. You can leave the cart and oxen with her, I will pick it up tomorrow morning.”
”I expected Gundren to return before the supplies, did he tell you when he expected to get back? I know he and his brothers were eager to get started.”
Glen smirks, casting the produce flame cantrip. He holds it close to the mans face “you shure you don’t want to share” he snuffs his fire out waiting to see his reaction.
Vandal pays a total of 9 silver and receives a room key, a large bowl of stew and cup of whiskey.
Tiber pays 8 silver for a room key and bowl of stew.
Silas:
The woman looks at Silas, “Good sir, you are too kind. Life has been so difficult since my husband Waldo was lost. Two months ago He and a few other men from town went to try to drive off those orcs in Wyvern Tor, I told him not to go, they we just farmers not soldiers, but they went anyway. He said with that reward we would be able to move out of here and start a new life. I know he ment well, but they never came back. They had some plan to bring casks of oil out there and burn the orcs out, but I guess they never got that far.”
The woman begins to sob, “I should be going, I need to get home and put my son to sleep. But tomorrow morning I will stop by the Inn and try... what did you say, spiced potatoes? Triad bless you sir.”
The woman heads home for the night looking a little more hopeful about tomorrow.
The man becomes visibly frightened for a moment before regaining his composure, he smiles and says, “You’re scary, I like that. In fact, I might actually be afraid of you if there weren’t for four of my buddies standing in the shadows with bows drawn on you right now.”
He motions to a few spots, and sure enough there are 4 figures is grimy scarlet cloaks in the shadows with bows drawn. “I told you this is Redbrand territory, all I have to do is give the signal, but you know what? I like your style and Glasstaff may have a use for another wizard. You meet me tomorrow at noon at the Sleeping Giant and we’ll talk, but for now I have places to be.”
The man walks away and the 4 others all go their separate ways. Glen takes notice of the fact that on the streets of Phandalin there always seems to be at least one person in one of those scarlet cloaks wandering about on each street.
Bron pays 5 silver for the room and 4 copper for a mug of ale. Toblen tells him arms and armor can be bought at the Lionshield Coster, just south of the town square, and other goods and provisions can be bought at Barthen’s Provisions. There is also the smithy in town if you want any repair or custom work done.
He'll down the ale in mere seconds then slam it down prompting for another round of ale. Reaching in his coin pouch tucked to the side he'll take out a gold coin and flip it to the barkeep for the information.
Silas goes to the innkeeper and says "good sir, I am a gnome of the cloth, a servant to the triad. And because of that i do not carry around much money. But if you allow it, in exchange for some scraps and a bed, I will do whatever work I can help you with utill you seem fit. I am here with a party, but I have not know them long. I don't want inconvenience them in any way. If you find this agreement worth while, I am sure the triad would see you favorably."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Glen thinks to himself how good it would be to kill this “glasstaff” person and gain control of all his men. He looks out after the man leaves smiling he waves. Done with that he decides now would be a good time to get some rest (what’s the time of day?) he changes himself to look just like the man he met, then heads over to the inn. After walking in he walks up to the inn keeper after seeing Silas talk to him. Glen waves to Silas then looks at the inn keeper in a low voice he says “I need a room, I don’t want trouble” he taps his dagger strapped to his leg (intimidation 11)
Lothar considered Eldath's words, and thankfully took the gold from him. "I'm afraid something bad has happened to the dwarf. He is missing, but we are setting off in the morning to find him. I think he is in a place called Cragmar's Castle. Do you know it? And business is the dwarf into, meaning, do you know anyone who may want to hurt him?" He watched the boys unload the cart, and he was thankful to be done with this business. Lothar needed some answers.

At the Stonehill Inn:
Toblen Stonehill, the Inn keeper, is having a busy night. Until a few moments ago it was pretty slow, a couple local men, a farmer and a miner, sat at the bar. His wife and her friend sat at a table near the window with his young son, and he let the barmaid handle most of the work. But a few moments ago a group of adventurers showed up, and Toblen is quite happy for the change of pace and is quick to accomidate.
Toblen has just finished refilling Bron's ale and thanking him for the generous tip when he sees a new person enter. "Elsa, could you bring a bowl of stew to our tiefling guest over there?" he says to the barmaid, who quickly complies.
After greeting Silas and hearing his request he offers the gnome the loft in his stable for the night in exchange for washing the nights dishes.
Suddenly the room goes silent as a man in a grimy red cloak enters the Inn's common room and walks up to Toblen at the bar. Toblen's wife quietly takes her son and friend into kitchen.
The man in the scarlet cloak speaks quietly to Toblen and pats his weapon threateningly.
"I've no rooms for the likes of you. You scum may have Townmaster Wester under your thumb and be getting your protection money from half the good people in town, but this here is the Stonehill Inn not the Sleeping Giant. You are not welcome here."
Meanwhile,
Lothar tells Barthen of Gundrens capture. Barthen is upset by the news "Gundrens and his brothers, Tharden and Nundro had discovered the location of Wave Echo Cave and were preparing to reopen the mine. The Rockseekers are the rightful owners of the mine but anyone after great wealth of power might want to take control of the place. But I don't know anyone who might bare a grudge against them if that is what you are asking. As for this Cragmar's Castle did you say? I've never heard of it, but I am not one to go exploring. I have heard there are lots of old ruins around here perhaps it's one of those. Gundrens brothers have a camp outside town somewhere, I haven't seen them in a ten-day so I expect them to come into town to resupply any day now, they will be devastated by this news."
Seeing the man patting his weapon in such a way, Tibern will reach for his dagger. He would have gone for his rapier but it was easier to hide that he was drawing the smaller weapon. He made sure to not be threatening as it seems that the bartender had it under control for the most part.
