 Would a well time shield spell save count the damage?

 Yes. 

Count will cast shield to fend off the attacks against him and keeps his focus on the most injured enemy (gloomstalker I assume).

Attack 1: 3 plus 19 Damage: 5 plus 5

Attack 2: 1 plus 17 Damage: 6 plus 5

He will use his BA to use his harvest devine energy (channel divinity) to regain a 2nd lvl spell slot.

 Gloomstalker is down. That goes to the corpse! It’s really not looking good. 

It hits nadir for 6 bludgeoning and 4 necrotic damage. Dc14 con save or have your max hp reduced by 4. You guys are up! Remember your wisdom saves.
