Irisquietly follows the others downstairs, careful and slowly entering the chamber. She takes a moment to get a closer look at the artwork on the stone door before turning to the group, silently jerking a thumb towards the hallway they can't see the end of.
At first glance the piece seems innocent enough. It depicts the same robed female as upstairs, hood pulled down low over her face. Her posture is the same on the door, her palms facing outward with her arms on either side of her. An additional figure kneels at her feet, a woman with long hair wielding a greatsword with the point in the ground. As you take a closer look however, you notice a disturbing detail in the petroglyph. A sphere is set in the center of the greatsword, with beams coming from it as if radiating. The beams end at the edges of the carving. The edges of the door are lined in a great fire that consumes people, buildings, forests, and animals alike.
Hildr tiptoes across the chamber and into the corridor to the right, nodding toward the stone door as she goes. When she reaches where the corridor veers to the right, she carefully glances around the corner—all the while remaining as quiet as possible.
Gawainquietly moves downstairs with the others, staying behind in the main chamber for now while the others explore the hall. If he hears signs of trouble, he'll follow.
Moving quietly through the angled hall, you peer around the corner to find a few more turns. All in all, you travel roughly 40 feet through the hall before it finally opens an oval room, about 35 feet in length. There's a 5 foot walkway in the room, the rest of it being sectioned off by a series of iron bars stretching from ceiling to floor. Inside what is obviously a holding cell you can see a few old buckets and some decaying straw scattered about. Huddled up in tattered robes in the corner is a humanoid figure, their face concealed by the hood over their heads. By the steady rise and fall of their robes, you would judge them to be asleep or unconscious.
Every fiber of Crannoc's being is on edge, being underground in man-made tunnels. He feels there may be a trap here somewhere, either an ambush or using the huddled figure as bait or both. He prays for guidance from Silvanus', though his god seems far away down here.
CrannocPerception plus Guidance to look for hazards or an ambush: 12 + 4 = 16
He whispers his misgivings to the others. "In case this is a trap, I can try to use my Mage Hand and telekinetic shove repeatedly to open the cell and pull the humanoid figure to us for questioning rather than our having to enter the chamber to wake them. No harm done if they are truly a captive."
If the others agree, Crannoc tries to put his plan into action, opening the cell door (if unlocked) with his invisibleMage Hand and then using his Telekinetic Shove to gradually drag the comatose figure towards the party without entering the room.
The lock crumbles as Hildr smashes it, falling to the ground with a soft clang. The figure stirs with the noise, shaking awake completely as they begin to slide across the floor. "Wha-?" Off balance, they fall over prone, twisting around as Crannoc's telekinesis pulls them closer to your party. As they finally reach you, the hood falls to their shoulders, revealing a face marred by burn scars that run down their face and neck.
As the figure squints up at the party, Crannoc would recognize the slight glaze in their eyes: damage from whatever fire gave them those facial scars. They aren't blind, but he'd know they definitely have trouble seeing even up close. "Brother? Is that you?"
Hildr takes a step back, then another, before falling into a defensive stance, her sword held aloft. Although she appears impassive—facial muscles taut, eyes alert, fixed on the figure before her—the warrior woman is disquieted by the prisoner's disfigurement.
She has seen and done a lot of very harsh things, but cannot make sense of this evidence of what seems to have been pointless torture—perhaps the result of some ritual? Sunless, sightless...
Hildr beckons to the paladin, the sorcerer, and the bard to join her and Crannoc and pose their questions.
Gallant will walk in behind with his party and he will give bardic inspiration to Hildr. “Oh thank the Gods your still alive!”

Crannoc switches Silvanus' Guidance to himself once more, attempting to emulate his companions' quiet progress, following behind Hildr.

Gallant would try to look for a mask before moving any closer.

Gallant doesn't see any sign of a mask underneath the hood.

Hildr heeds Crannoc's words and waits to learn what, if anything, the nature priest discerns about the makeshift prison.
Crannoc sees no signs of ambush in this area: no arrow slits, no shuffling sounds in the walls, and no cover by which someone could be hiding behind.
If the others agree, Crannoc tries to put his plan into action, opening the cell door (if unlocked) with his invisible Mage Hand and then using his Telekinetic Shove to gradually drag the comatose figure towards the party without entering the room.

Hildr stands aside, amazed.
The door rattles as Crannoc's invisible mage hand reaches out, trying to open the door. A simple and slightly rusted padlock keeps the door secured.
Gallant will look to the group, "Does anyone know how to pick a lock?"
"No, but I can bust one."

"Thanks for the assist, Gallant. Clearly, the gods smile on your melody making."
With the cell door ajar, Crannoc quietly nods thanks to Hildr and Gallant and continues telekinetically pulling the comatose figure towards the party.
If there is no further mishap, he attempts to assess the humanoid's condition, with guidance from Silvanus', stabilizing them if necessary.

He leaves any actual searching, identification or eventual communication to the others, at least for now.
