This Mug immediately shared with me a transcendental tale of an Infinite Mug that anchors the Universe and keeps it from folding in on itself. I filed this report under "illogical nonsense" and asked why its sign is in Times New Roman font, when it is basic knowledge that Arial Black is a far superior font. I wondered: How did this mug even get past the assembly line with its theistic beliefs and poor font choices?

(OOC: @willow_ivyleaf - Vidruth may need to move at least another 5' away from the fire, depending on what @1973 responds to my question on the OOC group message thread.)
Berry replies to Marten‘s idea, „I don’t know how to make it down there without a torch and with one, I’d be an easy target. Not to mention it might not be much of an surprise if they spot light in their shaft. We could try to smoke them out and make them come to us. You don’t have more oil or anything flammable? Ideally something that smokes, they are on the higher ground.“
(OOC: I wasn’t sure if the DM encourages dialogue out of turn - since we only have one turn even though in any order. I felt I could do some more talking as Berry had an otherwise quiet turn. If it is preferred we abstain from multiple posts in one round, please inform.)

Encouraged to a point. Rounds are about 6 seconds long by the book. How much dialogue does that leave room for? Not a lot.
(OOC: continuation of Marten's action from post #478)
Marten crouches down and jogs forward (to Y9) as Berry flies back from the pool and Nosam moves forward. As he rummages in one of his sacks, he says much (more quietly than before), "Berry, d'ye think ye could get past them goblins at the bridge? Whadya think o' sneakin' up that fissure In the wolf den? Hit 'em from the rear just as the attack starts here?"
Before he gets an answer, Marten sees the fighters lining up on the west side of the stairs. He retreats back to his position, scattering his bag of caltrops over Z10 as he goes. "Watch yer step, Mistress!", he cautions Daphyra as she moves forward. The way he sees it, the fighters are aligned on the west of the stairs, and the top of the stairs creates a bottleneck anyway. They'll either want to lure the enemy into the pool chamber where the caltrops will limit their ability to disengage into the eastern corner, or they'll be filing into the chamber to the south to stand their ground there. In that case, the caltrops will limit the ability of the goblins from the other side of the bridge to swarm up and down the steps hit-and-run style.
Besides, if Berry doesn't try to go around through the fissure in the wolf den, they've got a fighter who can fly right over the caltrops!

As the flames leading to the southern chamber die down, leaving only the original torch, which, though ruined, continues to smolder (10’ bright light, 10’ dim light radius) you hear, echoing from the chamber, a shout in the same rough, low, growling voice as before.
“Klarg will make a throne out of you’s bones. And rule goblins from it! Hahaha!”
This statement is followed by a wolf howl which strikes you as ferocious rather than plaintive.
Here is an updated battle map:
Please post actions for around 8 in any order.
N.B. All creatures in the southern chamber are hiding. In order to spot them, you must establish line of sight, then make a Perception check.
Berry collects himself and stands up with a grunt. He flies over to Marten in a way that he’s not seen from inside the chamber (on the ceiling?) or with maximum cover and shield. Kiselina knows there are other occupants of these warrens, the group hasn’t explored that other section. But the focus is on this southern chamber, and that’s where it needs to be. He expected a stray arrow out of the dark, he’s glad it didn’t come.
He puts the javelin away, grabs the torch from the niche, and moves in preparation for however the group handles this chamber…and the denizens that reside within.

This is only marginally successful. Druidcraft:
You instantly light or snuff out a candle, a torch, or a small campfire.
This is more like a brazier with smoldering, moist coals which someone doused with water, and no kindling. Berry is able to create a 5’ radius area of dim light emanating from the coals.
As Marten stows his bow and removes a torch from his backpack, he shakes his head and wonders whether they're all going to die anonymously in this cave. Of course, maybe Gundren wondered the same thing when he was captured. They still haven't seen any signs of prisoners, but the crates and barrels in this next chambers looked like they might be stolen provisions. It feels like they're getting closer.
As Kiselina makes his way to the group and Berry repositions, Marten moves in a low crouch across the chamber entrance again. He reaches out with his new torch and lights it from the one on the stairs before it sputters out. Finally, he moves back to a10 to make sure that he's not in view of any of the goblin archers until the whole group is ready.
Trying to lighten the mood, he shouts to Nosam in a loud, carrying voice, "Ye gotta wonder why then goblins follow Klarg if he's such a coward that a teeny, tiny fire sends him runnin'--eh, Nosam? Seems like this 'mighty Klarg' would rather hide like a baby than fight like a warrior!"
Once Kiselina joins the group, Marten says more quietly (mostly to Kiselina), "If they're not comin' out, we don' need to be hasty, eh? M'ybe we should toss a flask of oil into th' middle o' th' cave first. Then wait for Vidruth or Berry to light it up before we all go in. That gives us a better chance t' spot the little devils."

Round 8 Results
Berry’s use of Druidcraft allows him to create a 5’ radius area of dim light emanating from the coals in the firepit in the southern chamber.
Kiselina grabs the lit torch from the wall and moves toward the southern stairs.
Marten is able to light a torch. In answer to his taunts, the low, growling voice answers.
“What he say? Oh, hahahahahaha! Humans so stupid. Use word ‘coward,’ which in goblin tongue say ‘smart old man.’ Human word ‘brave,’ in goblin translate as ‘idiot.’ Klarg smartest one here! Humans murderers, come into my clan and kill everyone. But not Klarg! You goblins stay with Klarg and be coward, hahaha! Smart old man!”
Daphyra scans the southern chamber and can also ready an attack. It is triggered however when she notices one goblin, Goblin15, hiding against the far wall behind a crate. Her Toll the Dead goes off, and (WIS save 5-1=4) the goblin takes 6HP necrotic damage. It covers its ears, runs from its spot toward the southern stairs, then falls on the ground, its ears blackened and desiccated from the spell.
Vidruth notices no traps, however, stepping directly into the line of sight of three goblins triggers their attacks.
G16 fires its shortbow at Vidruth: 16 to hit / 3 piercing damage.
G17 fires its shortbow at Vidruth: 22 to hit / 6 piercing damage.
G18 fires its shortbow at Vidruth: 10 to hit / 6 piercing damage.
Enemies
Two of the goblins shots strike Vidruth and the half-orc wizard goes down. That was their reactions. Now for their turns.
Three goblins now look for the source of G15’s death: Daphyra! They get up from hiding behind crates against the south wall, move to around W15, and fire their bows at the harengon. They then move out of sight once again and find new hiding places.
G16 fires its shortbow at Daphyra: 8 to hit / 3 piercing damage.
G17 fires its shortbow at Daphyra: 24 to hit / 5 piercing damage.
G18 fires its shortbow at Daphyra: 9 to hit / 3 piercing damage.
Additional critical damage from G17: 3
Daphyra also goes down!
Vidruth and Daphyra are both down.
You are now situated like so:
Please post for Round 9 in any order. Vidruth and Daphyra, please make death saves.
If anyone wishes to spot one of the hiding creatures in the southern chamber, establish line of sight, then make a Perception check.
(OOC: I see my multi-posting has triggered the dice police. However, Vidruth was hit twice, for 3HP and 6HP, while Daphyra was hit once, a critical, for 10HP.)
Marten was surprised when Vidruth went all the way to the top of the stairs, but he was less surprised when he heard the twang of bowstrings. When the arrows thunk into Vidruth, Marten starts to move forward. But then more arrows fly at Daphyra, and she takes a bad hit.
"Mistress!", Marten yells as she drops. "I've got her!"
Marten drops his torch and moves to Daphyra. He squats down behind her, carefully supports her head as he moves behind her and raises her lifeless body, his arms wrapped under her armpits in a "bear hug." He walks backwards in a crouch, pulling Daphyra out of the way of goblin arrows, her legs dragging on the cave floor.
Once out of sight of the cave, he sets her down and removes some things from one of his pouches. He removes the goblin arrow, presses something into the wound, and places a clean bandage over it. His hands move quickly at the task, all his attention focused on Daphyra.
He says, "I can keep 'er alive, but I'm no healer."
(OOC: I assume that it's OK for both Daphyra and Marten to occupy the same square while he's stabilizing her. At the end end of his turn, Daphyra should be stabilized and no longer require death saves.)
Daphyra gasps as the first arrow passes over her head, and then curls over as the second hits her in the belly. It goes straight through her chain shirt and into the soft fur of her gut. As she falls, the third arrow clatters to the ground next to her. Her breathing hitches and she looks up towards the heavens as her eyes drift closed.

(Ok, sounds like we have a majority for retreat and I need to call it a day. Please, choose who Berry will take with him. Consider that going down with the water might down someone on low HP. )
Berry's heart sinks as he sees both Daphyra and Vidruth fall victim to goblin projectiles. What were they thinking? Walking blindly in a dark cave full of goblins? It did sound a good idea before but after having paid dearly in blood for every inch in this forsaken hole, Berry's subdued fighting spirit has taken a blow too many and he simply wants to get out. Kiselina and Vidruth got washed out before, and Berry saw another sluice gate in the second pool before. He counts one and one together and says in a low voice, "Hey, what about we flush ourselves out? I saw a second sluice gate!" he asks his companions, well, the ones still standing. "I can open the second pool and the water washes us out quickly. From there we shoulder our wounded and leave." He offers to take over Daphyra from Marten's care (He'd leave a sack, a pouch and his rope and Daphyra's gear for someone else to carry - 100 lb - to be able to take on the 170lb of the harengon incl. the armour), or he takes Vidruth, leaving his sack and Vidruth's gear (other than his clothes and the crowbar) with Nosam, and brings her or him to the pool at nearly the exact same spot where he was unconscious only moments ago. "Come!" he whispers and signals to his companions as he prepares to open the water gate.
Free: talk, move Daphyra or Vidruth? Move: to Z7, cover behind stalagmite (not diving this time but mostly submerged.) Action: move Daphyra/Vidruth (if this is a free action, as his action, Berry would lob the bag of ball bearings into the chamber aiming to cover X/Y 12/13 with Ball Bearings, otherwise and if available as a free action he offers the item to someone else, suggesting that it could slow down pursuers.)

Time slowed down for Kiselina over the last several seconds. As he moved into position, he heard the twang of bow strings, looking up just in time to see the first strike the wizard. Vidruth looked pale but then the second arrow landed and he looked so much worse.
It seemed like just a second later when another slew of arrows flew past his widening eyes and dropped the cleric of Beset.
“We have to get out of here.” He says as he watched the fairy grab the haregon and head for the pool.
“It’s an idea” he thinks, not one he would have gone with because of the injured. But the direction has been chosen.
Wanting to save his healing pool from Bahamut, Kiselina grabs the wizard and drags him out of the kill zone to his cover and tries to perform first aid on the half-Orc. (Medicine: 13) “Stay with us Vidruth, Gruumsh can’t have you yet!”
He removes the backpack from the injured, “Nosam, carry this!”
The Paladin then hefts the body up and moves north into the pool heading for cover behind the stalagmite there. (X5 or X6?)

Marten: Round 9
Movement: 30' of movement, a10 > a9 > Z9 >> a9 (dragging Daphyra) >> b9 or, if Berry moves, b10 (dragging Daphyra)
Action: [Tooltip Not Found], healer's kit
Free Action: Talking
(OOC: I assume that it's OK for both Daphyra and Marten to occupy the same square while he's stabilizing her. At the end end of his turn, Daphyra should be stabilized and no longer require death saves.)
Daphyra gasps as the first arrow passes over her head, and then curls over as the second hits her in the belly. It goes straight through her chain shirt and into the soft fur of her gut. As she falls, the third arrow clatters to the ground next to her. Her breathing hitches and she looks up towards the heavens as her eyes drift closed.
Death save: 13.

I wondered: How did this mug even get past the assembly line with its theistic beliefs and poor font choices?
quote from Romantically Apocalyptic by Vitaly S Alexius
Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.

(X5 or X6?)
