Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.
There are two doors on the south side of the room. The left one (east) leads to a blank wall that gives the impression of a long corridor. After seeing the optical illusion the first time, Milo can point out the difference immediately. The right one (west) leads to a winding corridor. There is a door leading south in the middle of the corridor and another door leading east at the end of the corridor.
The door leading south is made of wrought iron. Something is glowing behind it, and the door seems stuck when someone tries opening it. It is not locked, but something is jamming the hinge and opening mechanism. There doesn't seem to be any trap, but it would require a show of strength to unstuck it.
The door leading west is made of wood. A bar of wooden plank on the other side of the door is visible through a finger-thick gap between the door and the frame. Opening it would require smashing it down if there is no other way to lift the wooden plank from this side of the door.
"Thanksh, Nature Walker!" Inge looks brightly at Wadi through a mouthful of food. "And good newsh, I can confirm the rationsh are shtill fresh!"
Finishing her ration-sized snack in a couple more gulps, the clanswoman stretches and burps.
"I took no wounds back there, though I feel like I should have. Strange place, we've come to. I can keep watch if anyone needs to rest. But after that, should I... try to smash through one of the doors? Maybe you can give me some more of the primal guidance beforehand, Wadi. Or is there something smart we can do like we did with the angel. Maybe stick something thin through the cracks of the wooden door to lift the bar?"
Milo will attempt to lift the bar with a dagger and if that is too small, with his rapier (though he will stop if it looks like the bar is too heavy for the rapier as he doesn't want it to be damaged)
Brix marveled at the ingenuity exhibited in the design and execution of the mechanizations they had encountered. With the angel seemingly defeated he stepped off his platform and follows the others. Seeing the others working on the wooden door he sets his sights on the metal one. He sees the fouled hinge and takes note of the jammed lock.
While you all work on that one I'll see what I can do here." He announces. Brix pull out his tool roll and lays it out at his feet. He then takes a good look at the trouble spots to see if he can get the door functional.
Milo tries to sneak a dagger into the gap to lift the bar. The blade easily slides in, but the bar is too heavy to lift with the dagger. It is doable, but not with a dagger. Perhaps something with longer blades to give more leverage. Unfortunately, the rapier is too flimsy that the blade will be damaged if it is used for this purpose.
After investigating for some time, Brix can see that the door must be pulled open. However, the problem lies not on his side of the door, but on the other side. While the hinge and the lock are a little rusted and off alignment, the door itself seems to be melted to the frame from the other side. A hard pull would unstuck and open the door, but it would require someone with greater strength than him.
Standing at the crosspath he says "Well. We need to figure out which way we want to go. The door straight ahead or the one down there. For now, I'd say lets go straight ahead. Since the door seems stuck, Inge, can you give it a push if I rally you on (guidance) and maybe someone else helps her push it open?"
"If you say that the door is melted from the inside, Brix," reasons Myrla, "I would advise caution to open it with force. We might set free what is in there. It seems particularly hot." She tries to touch the door carefully to determine if it is indeed hot or warm and lets the others know. "The other door, on the other hand, is barred from the other side as if they don't want us to get in. That sounds safer to me. I can offer a shovel with a solid long handle, perhaps that fits through the gap? If not, did someone bring a pole? We could use it to build some leverage against the ground to press the bar up easier. Or, perhaps, Inge's Glaive if we lack a pole? I think it should be sturdy enough and not bend, but I think that's your call Inge, and I'm not sure if it will fit. Or, alternatively, we could fiddle a rope through the gap and make a loop to try and lift up the bar. If nothing else helps, we could try to burn it, the other door kind of suggests that. One door locked by fire, perhaps we can open this one with fire."
Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.
Feeling a little protective of her Glaive, Inge nevertheless trusts Myrla enough to give it a shot.
Approaching the wooden door, reversing the weapon as she often does in combat, she attempts to use the haft to lift the bar on the other side of the wooden door. (Unless she gets the feeling it will damage the weapon, in which case, she will not).
The haft of the glaive is too big to be inserted into the door gap. However, the blade is thick enough to fit through the gap but also handle the bar's weight. Carefully, Inge inserts the blade of her glaive through the door gap and pushes upwards. Her strength and the leverage the longer blade offers make it easy to lift the bar. A blue light flashes on the other side of the door as the bar falls to the ground and the door swings open. Beyond is a room filled with dust and sand. A cyclone of dust and sand spins lazily through the room, making it difficult to see what other things are in the room.
She holds her glaive in one hand, crestfallen, and partially raises her cloak as a veil to cover her mouth and nose. Inge's grumble is a little childlike and petulant. "So many traps and puzzles, and nothing to actually, you know... fight normally in here so far."
She looks to her companions, clearly hoping one of them can suss out the secret of this latest conundrum.
"Dust and sand, my nemesis - They even follow me into the bowels of this monument," says Myrla in despair. She tries to get a look into the new chamber, even steps carefully inside by a few feet. She tries to ascertain what lies in the direction towards where the other door would lead (Perception: 7) but she proves just as vulnerable to the dust and wind as Inge.

Inge, Myrla, and Wadi step into the room. The dust and sand immediately buffet them, obscuring their vision despite not having much speed or force. This is not a typical or normal dust cloud.
From within the dust cloud, Myrla and Wadi can see moving silhouettes. They appear small and very agile, sometimes moving out of sync with the lazily spinning dust cloud. An inanimate object would not behave as such.

Milowill see the others enter the room, and before entering himself, will look around the door for any inscriptions that might give a hint such as in previous rooms. Investigation: 18
Brix remains in the doorway and observes what is happening to those who entered the room. With his small stature he's worried the tornado will toss him about.
Inge stifles another cough and shakes her head. She keeps her voice low.
"Any of you magic users have any way to slow down the dust devil? Not looking forward to charging into that, but I will if I have to. Or we could just close this door and figure out a trick to open the other one."
Milo is hesitant to step off again until the others do it with no reaction from the statue. Once he gets down, he goes to the doors to the south, attempting to open both.

Wadi says to Inge "Well done Barbarian."
To Hunteros "Glad to have you back."
"Ok, do we need a rest? And, do we rest here or the next room? I might suggest here, since we do not know what awaits us."
Taking out his healers kit, he asks the party "Anyone needing healing," (Looking at Milo and Hunteros) "Step over here and we'll get you patched up."
