Features: Walls: The pallisade walls are 10 feet high, between them is a muddy ditch 6 feet deep. Gates: Both the inner and outer gates have been destroyed. The wood that makes them appears blackened and rotted. Guard Towers: Two guard towers flank the gate, rising five feet above the top of the walls. Light: The area is dimly lit by the radiance of Imane's two major moons.
"No!" The cry leaves Ilya's lips as she watches two of Vinande's defenders fall outside the gates. She hardly looks like a warrior type, wearing a black dress with a high neckline and open shoulders. A wide decorated belt wraps around her waist, and a small golden necklace hangs from her neck. Her clothes have seen better days, ripped in several places and marred by mud and blood. In one hand she grips a dagger, on the other she wears a slave bracelet. The ring attached to it is unremarkable, but the bracelet itself is crowned with a clear crystal.
She thinks she catches flashes of others coming up the hill, how many more of these things are going to come tonight!? The frustrated thought crosses her mind as she tightens her grip on the dagger. "Just die damn you!"
Charging forward, she thrusts the dagger into the large shadow cat. The crystal on her wrist flares with a golden light, matched an instant later by a similar flash from the dagger's blade.
Movement - South into melee with the cat (G) Action - Dagger to Hit:18, Damage:5, Divine Smite(2nd Level):15 + 4(if Fiend or Undead)
Glyptemis, seeing the flash of light through the broken gates, notices Ilya fighting the shadow cat and has to restrain himself from charging in. Not the time to throw yourself into danger he thinks, trust the others, stick to the plan.
"Hey, there's someone on the other side of the gates fighting the shadows! I'll try and distract them!" He tells the rest of the group, muttering a guttural, croaking incantation as several of the runes on his shell light up, fly off his back, and go whizzing off towards one of the smaller shadows, slamming into it from all sides with a cracking sound.
(Action) Magic Missile 3x at C for 8 force damage (Bonus) N/A (Movement) None
OoC: For my smiter pair, roll the extra 1d8 against these creatures. Also, Glyptemisunless I'm mistaken that should be 9 force damage? 2+1 for each dart. That's what I've applied to the creature anyway. if I'm wrong, oh well it's 1 damage.
The dagger catches on the bone beneath the panther-like creature's shadowy flesh. As you suffuse the blade with radiant energy the light spills forth, blasting holes in its form. The radiance goes above and beyond what you expected, burning away the rest of its body. Its blackened bones clatter to the ground below you.
As Glyp's runic projectiles rock the immaterial body of a Shrouder (C) at the gate, the two further in (A and B) move forward to attack Ilya.
Between the two gates, one of the Shadows(E) lifts an arm and extends a shadowy tendril to the defender between them. You hear the woman cries grow weak as her very strength is drained. With her prior injuries the strain proves too much, and she collapses.
"Dammit,"Kalamin seethes as three people are slain before they can reach the gate in time. He runs forward, glaive already spinning in his hands as he approaches the two small shadows. He slashes at the one to his left that Glyp's spell had unloaded on before spinning and cracking the other with the blunt end of his glaive in quick succession.
He brings the weapon back into a defensive posture, ready to strike again should anything else come within his reach.
Movement: 20 ft. NE Action: Glaive Attack To Hit: 21 Damage: 14 Bonus Action: Polearm Master - Bonus Attack To Hit: 19 Damage: 8 Reaction: If a new hostile comes with 10 ft. of Kalamin.
Polearm Master Opportunity Attack (Glaive) To Hit: 9 Damage: 11
OoC: Also, Glyptemisunless I'm mistaken that should be 9 force damage? 2+1 for each dart. That's what I've applied to the creature anyway. if I'm wrong, oh well it's 1 damage.
OoC: I rolled a 2, a 1, and a 2 on my 3d4+3 (1d4+1 x 3), so that's how I got to 8 total damage. I accidentally did it as 2 rolls in dndbeyond (2d4 followed by 1d4) so that's probably why it looks weird.
Leftenant moves east about 20’ to get a clear shot at Shadow D. After firing he moves back another 10’, just to ensure that he is out of (what he believes) is melee range of these creatures. “Friendlies coming in!” He shouts towards the gate. It was an indicator he and his men had used in the past to alert those on the inside of a compound or secured area know assistance was on the way…often with enemies in tow. He hoped the later part would be able to be explained away once they were inside. Attack: 13 Damage: 4 Colossus Slayer (if applicable): 5
"More of these things! I don't have many blessings left to offer, but I'm not afraid. I can't be!"
Juno moves forward 30ft and say a quick prayer. She holds her prosthetic arm, the fire within licking out between the grooves of overlapping metal.
"My Lady, grant us strength. Bless us with your light that we might burn away this blight in your name!" And she will thrust her prosthetic arm out, unleashing a wave of fire.
Action: Casting Burning Hands (The corner of the square she's in should let the 15ft cone of fire catch both creatures in the gate)
Dex Save DC: 14 (Fail is full damage. Succeed for half)
Neither creature seems particularly agile this time around and Juno's flames wash over them, letting out a keening wail over the roar of the flames. When they finally abate, their forms are reduced and patchy. You can see bone through pale black mist that clings to them like robes.
"Perhaps you never truly left Baria, Kal." Lyra's voice is wry, her heart sinking at the chaos in front of her. "Perhaps it is we who have been transported into the nightmare of an undead onslaught which were your final memories."
Lyra runs northeast thirty feet to engage Shadow (F) in melee. As she moves, she tries to thread her dark beam of force between the two shadows at the Shrouder (B) which is engaged with the woman inside the gate, but her haste throws off her balance and aim.
Movement: 30' northeast into melee with Shadow (F).
Action: Eldritch Blast at Shrouder (B) (attack comes after 25' of movement, just before entering melee). To hit: 10 Damage: 5 force
Lyra's blast of dark energy shoots just past the Shrouder(B), blasting into the barricades behind it. The Shadow(F) turns on her, extending its dark tendril. But its attack is merely batted away by her warhammer.
Where did they come from? The question springs into Ilya's mind between attacks once she realizes the newcomers were actual people instead of more blasted monsters. "Inside quickly, more will come!" She calls out to them. Her dagger hand slashes out to her left as she steps forward, the blade flashing with radiant light again.
Movement - South 5 feet. Action - Dagger to Hit (B):14, Damage:5, Divine Smite(1st Level):7
Glyp steadies his crossbow and lets loose a bolt with a loud *thunk*, heading straight for the Shadow (F) that's engaged with Lyra. "I got you covered!" He yells
(Action) Crossbow , 19 to hit for 10 damage (Bonus / Move ) N/A
Golden light flares once more, and the Shrouder(B)falls to Ilya's smite. Lyrawould hear a thwip as Glyp's bolt flies past her head, nailing the Shadow(F)directly in one of its eyes sockets. It lets out a frail gasp as its smoky body dissipates.
The remaining creatures try to retaliate, but their blows against Lyraand Ilyaare too weak to break their defenses.
(Ooc: Glad you are on the mend Being sick is never a good time. Rest well.)
Leftenant continues to circle to the right trying to get a clear shot at the shadow skinned undead (E). Just when he thinks he has the shot lined up, he draws back his arrow. However, he finds that it hard to aim as the moonlight has cast a shadow of its own around the gate. As the arrow sails through the air he hopes he hadn’t cut it too close to Lyra to put her in jeopardy of injury.
