"Fine with me. C'mon now. No laggin'. Let's find our way forward, right?" He looks to Arden to lead the way ..
"No worries there. Oh look south is some piercers but since we know they're up there its safe to get through. East is some ropers so we'll need to be careful if we go that way so we spot em good enough. After that I'm a bit fuzzy on."

Arden settled on Nik'thul's saddle before nodding in agreement. "Aye, we'd be happy tae have ye join. Two potion makers be better than one, ey? I'll take the lead." Unless someone stopped Arden, he would begin traveling east with his shield readied.
Jaeajo follows along at the end of the now larger party, strumming a tune on his lute. Migh' be somethin' good enough to help us all, if I work on it a bit more, he says in his slow deep voice.
Uneven Floor. The uneven floor is strewn with bits of chewed-up armor and bone, as well as the occasional copper piece or silver piece.
Ropers. This 30-foot-high cave holds a forest of stalagmites, some of which are broken.
Having been warned of the ropers in this area you cautiously advance into it slowly. The familiars leading the way but not by much with Arden in the lead. Now you pause waiting to see if you can spot the ropers.
As you each scan the area you spot them both, but they are split up. One to the north and one to the south. These beasties are large in size with tentacles and a big set of teeth.

History or something similar with adv since you were aware of them from the Alchemist.
DC 15 check gains the following information on your attackers.
You know the Ropers are pretty healthy and are pretty slow too. Speed 10ft, Climb 20ft. Multiattack. The roper makes two Tentacle attacks, uses Reel, and makes two Bite attacks.
RP2 is on the ceiling 30ft up while RP1 is on the floor 20ft away.
Ooc - Alrighty... knowing all of that, Arden would go for the one on the ground first. Remember he's got a +4 aura of protection action 10ft around himself.
As Arden spots the ropers, he called out to the group with an easygoing tone, "Big, ugly buggers, ey? Slow like a rock, too. I'll take the one on the ground first! Watch out for the tentacles, though. They got a nasty bite waitin' after they reel you in."
Move: Zig'Thul will get Arden closer to RP1 on the ground.
Jaeajo continues to move at his usual leisurely pace as if unconcerned about the two Ropers but quickly changes the tune on his lute to a more martial theme. The music gives Bardic Inspiration (+1d8 to a d20 test) to Cleggan (Bonus Action) and casts Dissonant Whisper against the Roper on the ground (2nd level - One creature of your choice that you can see within range hears a discordant melody in its mind. The target makes a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, it takes 4d6 Psychic damage and must immediately use its Reaction, if available, to move as far away from you as it can, using the safest route. On a successful save, the target takes half as much damage only.) He ducks back around the corner, saying, I'm no fish to be caught.
Cleggor turns and sees Jeajo and Arden focusing on the roper to the south on the ground, he turns and looks at the roper to the north, RP2 and wants to keep them from getting pinched off, surrounded on either side by these things. He pulls out his staff and points at the roper on the ceiling, and all of a sudden in between them, right next to the roper a large flock of spectral birds, (hawks!) appear, biting and nipping at the roper, tearing it with their spectral claws and beaks. He conjures such a large mass that he hopes that prevents it from moving south, ceiling or no.
Casts : Conjure animals, bringing in spectral hawks 5 feet to the south of RP2, and they attack! DC 15 Dex save or RP2 takes 9 points of slashing damage.
