Xavier's spell reveals Two unbroken funeral urns stand in each corner, each urn has an aura of abjuration magic emanating from within the urn. Anyone who approaches can see that the urns have a wax seal stopper. The wax-seal stopper of an urn is broken easily, and an urn can be broken like any clay vessel of the sort. Xavier deduces that breaking the wax seal or smashing the urn will release the magig stored inside, for good or ill.
In additionally to the urns the air above the of molten material is slowly filling with smoke infused with abjuration magic.
"Abjuration magic doesn't sound too bad," says Eiren. "Might as well see what these are capable of. I don't think we have anything to fear from the fire in the middle, as long as we don't go near it."
Eiren will use his magic to ritually cast the identify spell on one of the urns, if everyone doesn't mind waiting for 10 minutes.
Eiren learns that the urns contain the siphoned off essences of the reddish creatures and when an urn is opened or broken, the act releases a gas that causes any creature within 10 feet of the urn to gain resistance to fire damage for 1 hour.
"I need a rest," says Eiren. "Can we take a breather for an hour? And then when we are done, we could all use five of these urns to ward us against fire damage, and then carry the other three with us for emergency usage?"
Assuming that you want to rest here (actually it's a good spot for it), you all can take a short rest. Let me know how many Hit Dice if any you are using.
Eiren will rest as well, using his four remaining hit dice. 32
He will spend his short rest in close proximity to the object in the center of the room, trying to see if he can glean any useful information about it through meditation.
If the group has time, he will spend 10 minutes casting find familiar to recall Qu'oth, as an owl again.
As the party rest Eiren studies the Molten Pool in the center of the room after a while he realizes that it is not the pool itself that is magical. Although he doesn't think it would be a good idea to venture into the pool. But rather it is the smoke that is magical. A successful Arcana check DC 15 reveals the following (in spoiler below). Eiren and Xavier you can make the check with advantage, anyone can make a normal roll..
Binding Smoke. The smoke tendrils form chains that have no solidity, but their abjuration magic holds the any creature trapped within the smoke. While it is bound in this smoke, the creature is susceptible to the charm person spell and has disadvantage on the saving throw.
How do you want to proceed Eiren?

That seems ominous, anyone have any ideas? Should we break the urns? Or try and move on away from here? Or just observe and see what happens?

Each urn is 1 foot tall and weighs 5 pounds. So carrying them might be tricky if you want to keep them intact, but it is possible.
